Is It Possible That Somehow We Can All Win?

Recommended Posts

Unlikely...because all I heard from Obama during this campaign is how bad america is, how bad bush is, how selfish I am, how un patriotic I am because I dont want to pay more taxes...I will give the Democrats the same united support they gave the GOP the last 4 years.... ZERO
I don't think it's much of the Democrats fault as Bush haters. It seem to be across the board from around the world to deep within the GOP party, and all voters alike. He has been the most hated president I ever had seen. As not supporting Obama or McCain as your president that's your choice, but they do say, united we stand divided we fall. And if and when it comes to bloodshed or any violence I suppose that will be okay too. You will just sit back and allow it to happen without speaking out saying it's wrong or doing anything to try to prevent it. You need to show the world, that you are better people than what George Bush left an impression of. When it comes to the next election then speak out but at least let there be peace in between. You need a shorter election process, one that takes 6 months not a year in and half this is dragged out too long lol. This is stressfull lmao

to answer Scott's question about what is considered rich.I'd say 0.If you're at break even currently, you're rich. Everyone else owes $300k on their house and $20k for their car and $20k on their credit cards.I envy the homeless dude. He's doesn't have a nut to make every month just to get back to zero.I'm kidding, obviously. The number for being "rich" differs all over the country. I could live in Montana, make $45k a year and probably do "alright" while I would be collecting food stamps in SoCal and NYC with the same wage. That's the thing, there is no simple answer and that's why Bush was popular for a while. Simple answers to complex questions. That's why I don't dog Barack for not giving simple answers to abortion questions and such. (and yes, I know he chose the $250k)

your worst pick is "interesting". Guess it makes sense given your libertarian views. Even if I hated the New Deal as much as you probably do, I would still put a three term president who guided us thru WW2 and is on Mount Rushmore ahead of Franklin Pierce or Andrew Johnson.
Four term president. He was elected four times. He isn't on Mount Rushmore.:club:

It seems that this year the Democrats are particularly angry and out for some payback against Bush and the Republicans. They really seem to want to bloody our noses.
'our' noses? heh.
The only way I can feel good about Obama winning is some pro online poker legislation is finally passed...but I don't know if that will happen or not.
I haven't kept up on the goings-on with the online poker legislation, but I don't see any pro-online gambling legislation coming any time soon under either party. I hope I'm wrong just for the sake of getting rid of archaic, useless thinking.

Obama said he's going to tax the rich and all those big evil corporations and give me free health care, yay! <brain shuts off> "uh actually as far as this country's history goes, if you increase the tax rates obama wants to increase, the real result is people lose their jobs because companies cut jobs to make sure they still have the free cash flow to pay the dividends they owe the stockholders. oh, and when you increase the capital gains tax, people just stop selling their investments that appreciated unless they have losses to offset the gains, so tax revenue actually goes down. it's way more likely that you lose your job and the government can't afford your health care anyway..." <eyes glazed over> Yay obama!! Get those rich bastards!
QFT....so sad really. it will be a blood bath but at least some of you voted for "change we need"...including BG sorry it had to be said!!

Naked Cowboy hit the nail on the head. Obama counted on voters being sheep. And, it happened, hypnotized by promise and beguiled by idiotic premise, because semi-chocolate thunder makes it sound so good. I pointed out to a girl at work that if Obama was allowed to start his plans 4 years ago she would not have her job. Not most likely, she wouldn't. There would have been no reason to hire her. Do you know what she said? "He will change things." I mentally punched her in the face. Lot's of people changed things, lots of people made history, change for the sake of change and history for the sake of history is meaningless, and in this case dangerous.

Uh, that's Teddy on Mount Rushmore. FDR, with his court packing scheme, is the president who broke the back of the Constitution, and is therefore most responsible for the $10 Trillion dollar federal debt. He's responsible for the Welfare For Corporate Farmers programs that make our food expensive and makes it impossible for family farmers to compete with corporations. He's responsible for turning a routine economic correction into the worst economic crisis in the nation's history. But mostly, the court-packing thing. It was the end of constitutional govt in this country.

This is a great country and whoever wins, it will continue to be a great country. Chris Matthews pointed out this morning that there have been many countries that have had to build walls to keep their people in. But we're the only country that has so much promise of opportunity that we actually have to contemplate building a wall to keep people out. And regardless of what you might think of either candidate, I don't think that's going to change in the next 4 years.

I don't believe for a second that an Obama presidency will be all that different then it was when Clinton was in office and I would stake my left nut that regardless of who wins many taxes will go up.

This is what the Republicans do best - scare people unnecessarily. The world and the United States as you know it will not end if Obama is elected, any more than it ended when Clinton was elected, when Carter was elected, when a democratic congress was elected. If the United States is anything, it's resilient and it changes very slowly and incrementally no matter who's in office. If you think for one minute that a Democratic Presidency spells the end of the world then you were also probably hording foodstuffs and water etc for Y2K. The United States didn't end then and it won't end now. So stop being a drama queen.
BA-DUM-CHING! G-NIGHT EVERYBODY!DON'T FORGET TO TIP YOUR WAITER! :club:
You know there are times when even leftwing commentators get it right and this was one of those times. Did you read what he said or are you just so blindly partisan that you can't do it without seeing some kind of socialist conspiracy like 85 does?

Yes, and so have the democrats, and it's true. I could buy up 4 hours of prime time on every major network and have PhDs in their respective fields explain why most of obamas concrete platorms (by concrete i mean things like economics and taxation, healthcare, etc rather than idealogical issues like abortion) are complete ****ing nonsense and don't work independently or in conjunction with each other and it wouldn't change anything, because the majority of voters don't think about those issues in any terms beyond soundbites.Obama said he's going to tax the rich and all those big evil corporations and give me free health care, yay! Get those rich bastards!I'm sorry, but that's why obama never gives specifics of his economics or tax plans when asked. He doesn't have to. Even I'll admit his soundbytes sound SO GOOD and he delivers them so glibly, that most people don't have any interest in hearing the specifics.
Great Post mr. no beard.
Second worst: LBJWorst: FDR
I knew these would be your answers (thought possibly carter instead of LBJ)

JFTR, though Ive said it before, Carter is the worst by such a wide margin its pathetic. It might be a tie between Ford and LBJ for second worst.

Drama Queen, Seriously... screw you. I have every right to be concerned about the socilaist direction of this country and its affect on my family. If you don't believe Obama is a socialist, you haven't listened to a single thing he has said during the election cycle.McCain is closer in policy to Bill Clinton, than ObamaObama is so far left he iscloser to communist/marxist/socialist than the center History teaches the dangers of government that overreaches -- political control taking precedence over free economic growth, secret police, mindless bureaucracy, all combining to stifle individual excellence and personal freedom - RR 1982

thanks. I was assuming everyone skipped it wasn't sensationalist enough or something.
I didn't skip it, it just depressed me too much to type. It's just a little too true, and it's the reason I'm not optimistic about seeing wholesale reform of politics in my lifetime. Too many people hear "we'll give you stuff for free", and shut their brains off and put their hand out, not realizing *it's their own damn money*!
