Flushgarden 0
That's a relief. I would have been depressed for a while had Obama won.

copernicus 0
Yahoo/Politico mustve hired someone from FCP as their headline writer. rcgs59 15
if McCain gets in , I feel sorry for you Americans. As nothing will of changed prior to the vote, and the potential for things to become more doubtful and less productive will continue. Thus improvement for the better will not exsist

Obama off the chart liberal...BHO is not the uniter he claims to be... I will be very suprised if he can reach across the aisle... He is so far left of center in most of his policies it will be difficult...Who ever wins, will likely have only 45-52% percent of the vote... Hardly a united America... it will be a bitter pill for either side...and 4 more years of fighting...and I have always felt sorry for you Canadiens LOL

As nothing will of changed prior to the vote, and the potential for things to become more doubtful and less productive will continue. Thus improvement for the better will not exsistRose, if McCain wins, I honestly don't see that much changing really, only gradual improvement from the place we are now. We are going to improve from the current status quo no matter who wins . But McCain will have an impossible task changing much with the clowns in Congress at the moment. It will be a very tough road so I don't see anything crazy happening soon. I see him as the safe, slow ride back up, and keeping the checks and balances in place. If Obama wins it would mean a significant change, a neck breaking 180 from the status quo. This could be incredibly good or (and imo) potentially incredibly bad. No one really knows what this level of change will mean in the long run. Obama would likely get most of what he wants right away without much resistance. This alone scares the crap out of me, the whole absolute power thing... Obama is the big gamble and the far riskier choice. McCain was/is not my first choice, but I'm more inclined to take the less risky road at the moment.

copernicus 0
No one really knows what this level of change will mean in the long run.Obviously no one "knows". However, the economic and foreign policy disasters that Jimmy Carter brought on the basis of similar (and not even as far left as Blowbama) policies and philosophies is very solid evidence that it will not only be bad, but will take decades to recover from. vbnautilus 48
Palin's words were much clearer when she guaranteed a victory in Pennsylvania. But trust me, I am a friend of McCain's (he has told me so several times) and I can guarantee he meant to guarantee a victory. (if he loses, do the donators get their money back?) rcgs59 15
I think it's funny that most of us up here pay more attention watching CNN and and watching the US news channels than we do our own Canadian channels. Thus I have watched your political election fight for the past year and more. Our Election for Prime Minister was done in a 6 week time span with little press coverage compared to your coverage of over a year. Maybe you need to look at a system to shorten the spam of your election process. Or make it simplier. Cause the longer the process the more stories and accusations that come out where one wants to prove the other as a liar or a cheat. Or more False truths come out of the wood work. Just a thought lol

85suited 0
yes and it has been covered here... We have spent over 600 million on the election ..lots of better uses for that money..terms limits ... 1 - 6 yr term for the POTUS, and lots of changes would be great but wont happen.. Just a thought lolI actually agree with you, though you are wrong. This campaign has been going on for over two years. I guess whoever wins this year will start immediately running for reelection after they are sworn in as president. Guliani tried to be more reasonable and start his campaign later, but this stratagy turned out to be a major gaff, as he was too far behind to ever become a serious contender. copernicus 0
Try telling that to the politicians -- I was just thinking last week that I wonder who will be first to start their campaign in January for the race in 2012.If Obama wins then the next 4 years will be a constant campaign for 2010 and 2012, with party's pointing fingers daily and establishing how fubar their opponents are. Not only wont Obama be a uniter, he will be even more divisive than W.
