AmScray 355
I've eaten the same breakfast every morning for the past 3 years.6" (measured with a ruler) flaxseed chewy rye (from the same bakery- when I am not near this bakery, I either bring it with, or have it shipped) heated in microwave for 20 seconds1 glass milk (from the same glass- I travel with it)1 cup tea (same glass, same tea)2 hardboiled eggs, taken from the container in left to right- top to bottom fashion. How OCD is this? My girl says massively textbook severe OCD. I say not, I just know what I like.

BigDMcGee 3,355
The fact that you travel with the glass, is really what pushes this over the top.
rcgs59 15
depends do you have any other behaviours that you repeat, or is this the only oneif this is the only one then its a strong indictator but I wonder if there are more things you repeat doing such as hand washing or getting dress, or something else

jeff_536 3
I think having the bread shipped in when you're out of town is a little over the top for me.travelling with your cups isn't healthy, either, i suppose.A question: What would happen if your glass broke while you were travelling...if your bakery burned down? Would you eat something else? Would you come up with a new routine? Would you drink out of a different cup?

navybuttons 15
not that ocd, just efficient. i think guys like you, who understand efficiency, good business, etc. are going to have behaviors which appear to be obsessive when they're not at all. do you think donald trump spends 10 minutes every morning deciding what he's going to have for breakfast? of course not, he probably has someone decide for him or he eats the same thing. it's silly for a man who needs to accomplish a lot in a day to spend more time then necessary dealing with trivial decisions like which socks to wear or, like in your case, what to eat for breakfast.it would become a disorder if there's no logic to eating the same breakfast every morning or if you didn't even like the breakfast but HAD to have it anyway. Randy Reed 0
SymptomsObsessive-compulsive disorder symptoms include both obsessions and compulsions. OCD symptoms can be severe and time-consuming. For instance, someone who feels that his or her hands have become contaminated by germs — an obsession — may spend hours washing them each day — a compulsion. The focus on hand washing may be so great that he or she can accomplish little else.ObsessionsOCD obsessions are repeated, persistent, unwanted ideas, thoughts, images or impulses that you experience involuntarily and that appear to be senseless. These obsessions typically intrude when you're trying to think of or do other things.Typical OCD obsessions revolve around:Fear of contamination or dirt Repeated doubts Having things orderly and symmetrical Aggressive or horrific impulses Sexual images OCD symptoms involving obsessions may include:Fear of being contaminated by shaking hands or by touching objects others have touched Doubts that you've locked the door or turned off the stove Repeated thoughts that you've hurt someone in a traffic accident Intense distress when objects aren't orderly, lined up properly or facing the right way Images of hurting your child Impulses to shout obscenities in inappropriate situations Avoidance of situations that can trigger obsessions, such as shaking hands Replaying pornographic images in your mind Dermatitis because of frequent hand washing Skin lesions because of picking at the skin Hair loss or bald spots because of hair pulling CompulsionsCompulsions are repetitive behaviors that you feel driven to perform. These repetitive behaviors are meant to prevent or reduce anxiety or distress related to your obsessions. For instance, if you believe you ran over someone in your car, you may return to the scene over and over because you just can't shake your doubts. You may even make up rules or rituals to follow that help control the anxiety you feel when having obsessive thoughts.Typical compulsions revolve around:Washing and cleaning Counting Checking Demanding reassurances Repeating actions over and over Arranging and making items appear orderly OCD symptoms involving compulsions may include:Washing hands until the skin becomes raw Checking doors repeatedly to make sure they're locked Checking the stove repeatedly to make sure it's off Counting in certain patterns I'd say you're just anal and don't like change. Damn, eat something different for breakfast.

It's entirely possible that they may have good whitefish yet everything else is terrible, however, it is impossible for them to have lousy whitefish with anything else being worthwhile. Also, see if they offer both straight whitefish in addition to whitefish salad. That will tell you if they cater to actual Jews or not.

AmScray 355
it would become a disorder if there's no logic to eating the same breakfast every morning or if you didn't even like the breakfast but HAD to have it anyway.See, that's what I'm saying...If I hated this breakfast but were eating it out of some superstition or compulsion, that would be one thing- but that's not the case.I've had all the breads from the local bakeries and of the lot, I like this particular one the best.I've eaten different lengths of bread and have found that 6" is the perfect amount- neither too much or too little.I've had all the teas- I know what one is best and that's the one I drink. I use the same cup because I know precisely what level I can fill it up to for steeping. Same with milk. I know that the amount of milk contained in my glass is just right for me. Not too much so none is left to waste, not too little so I'm left to want. Eggs too. I prefer them to be taken from top to bottom so I can quickly asses how many eggs are left and know when I need to buy more. It takes more time if they're all willy-nilly and you have to count them one at a time- by taking them from top to bottom, you can count them in multiples of two and know how many you have almost instantly. AmScray 355
How about sandwhiches, I am not going to eat fish for lunch.Whitefish sandwich is pretty standard. It's served either on rye bread or a bagel. See if they offer both 'whitefish salad sandwiches' and 'whitefish sandwiches' without the "salad" part. Then, you'll know.Matzos balls in the soup should be fluffy and 'airy' - not hard and squishy like dumplings. Order tea- if it comes in a ceramic coffee cup, they're frauds. If it comes in a clear cup, they're the real deal. Also, asses the sour pickle situation... Sour pickles are so, so critical in a deli. If the sour pickles aren't in barrels or big, clear glass jars WITHOUT a commercial label, don't evn bother. If you order your sandwich and get some bullshit prefab "pickle wedge", burn the place down.

If he can do it with no problems, he's fine (sort of). If he gets all stressed out, he's not.How about sandwhiches, I am not going to eat fish for lunch.Just go for the classic...corned beef on rye. I don't like it very much, but most people seem to. Actually a rueben is probably the best way to go.I've had all the breads from the local bakeries and of the lot, I like this particular one the best.I've eaten different lengths of bread and have found that 6" is the perfect amount- neither too much or too little.I've had all the teas- I know what one is best and that's the one I drink.
