He can but he would be wrong...this debate was lame...I could have watched stump speech clips or the news and heard the exact same stuff. McCain continues to come off as a grump...and spent about 2 mins shaking hands and bailed...meanwhile Obama and his wife stuck around and seemed to be shaking hands and taking pictures with everyone. I heard an interesting point that McCain didn't go to the Ayers card or mention any of the other stuff because he is embarrased about the way his campaign has gone despite saying in April that the mudslinging was not going to come from his side.Overall my bias would say that I perfered Obama in this debate but the margin wasn't by much and considerning McCain was supposed to be a town hall guru this has to be considered a disappointment and he is running out of time to turn this thing around.
Come on, now, this was Townhall in name only. In true townhall you get some off the wall questions. I remember a candadate a few years ago was asked what he thought about acupuncture.

I've never been more impressed with Obama as I was tonight. What I saw tonight, unlike the last debate or the Biden/Palin debate was an absolute crushing in Obama's favor. I honestly think he destroyed him across the board. On every question I felt that Obama was strong. Just my opinion of course, I'm sure others may think that McCain won and they have that right. As for me, I was very proud of Obama tonight and think this was a solid step towards nailing down the presidency. Very happy with what I heard and saw...
At this point I'm very happy too. The Republicans need to be smacked down hard for abandoning the principles of limited government, low taxes, and emphasis on the individual rather than the group. The Republicans were the party of the pursuit of excellence, while the Democrats have always been the party of the pursuit of mediocrity. But that disappeared into the Bushes. At this point, the government has expanded like nobody's business and the Republicans are indistinguishable from the Democrats, except for a few dopey Bible thumpers.Let the Democrats have the reigns at this point. They don't have any solutions, just populist platitudes. By 2012 the country will be in such a shambles that the Republicans, if they learn any lessons from all of this, will be able to rise from the ashes. But for now, they deserve to BECOME the ashes.

What evidence from recent history would lead you to believe that either side will learn any lessons and change?? Its wishful thinking at VERY best.

The same thing happened in Canada during the Mulrooney era. By the time that guy was done, the Conservatives were so despised that the resulting election was a bloodbath. They licked their wounds, learned their lessons, and now are back in with a minority government. But at the time, they certainly got what they deserved (and I was younger, poor, and a liberal at the time, so I loved it!).

In a bold effort to reverse his sagging fortunes after a month of dire economic news, Republican Sen. John McCain said Tuesday night that if he is elected president, he will order the Treasury to buy up Americans’ bad mortgages and renegotiate new loans that reflect their homes’ diminished value.
You know, you're right. I just read the quote above on CNN. Eff the Republicans. I was wrong. They aren't the same as the Democrats. They're WORSE. Of all the dumb ass Socialist proposals I've heard, this one takes the cake... McCain is a populist ass kisser, and now he can kiss mine. I'd rather have an HONEST left winger than a DISHONEST right winger. At least I can protect myself from the first.

Yes, and I have designed surveys as well. Very hard to eliminate bias and very easy to build it in. Good point.

So you agree with me then that his only real chance is to get dirty and avoid discussing the issues?
He has no chance to win by doing that.Really his only chance is if he starts telling Americans what Washington is like and to cleanse his soul and tell Americans what really needs to happen to fix the countries numerous problems. That won't happen though. Straight talker my ass. He is controlled by special interests and so is Obama. The US is hooped either way. Corporations run the country and neither candidate will stand up to those corporations.

Hey DN, are you going to be in Canada during the Canuck election? I would assume that you will be putting the X besides Mr. Green Dion. Of course I will be offsetting you with my X besides Mr. Harper. Want me to save you a trip and just stay home and then we cancel each other out? :club: Trust me, just give me the word and I will stay home.......reallly.

Or 8Just like 41 did in 92 because he wouldn't do what needed to be done to win.Just a good thing Clinton was so ineffective in doing anything he had planned to do.
The Dems will not hold it for more than 4, and the economy may be bad enough for most of it that Obamas handcuffed from ****ing it up even more.

There should have taken the $700 billion, split it up and given it back to the tax payers and said "here, pay off all of you debt, get out of the hole and lets get things going again."Wouldn't this stimulate the economy? People would be out from under mounds of debt, would likely buy cars and other goods, make investments, and then we could do like Gov. Bush wanted us to do after 9/11 to go out and shop.Would it be any worse than we are now?

Dem controlled Congress with Obama president... Hmm, if they have ANYTHING good to harp on (whether they deserve the credit or not), that could be significant in getting him 8 years. If Bush2 can get 8... :club:

In my opinion, the only way McCain could win at this point is if his campaign paid for a 30 minute spot on National television and he had an articulate speech that not only laid out his plans, but talked about why things are where they are at, how he proposes to fix them. Illustrates then fundamental differences between he and Obama and shows proof of the lies and half-truths.I picture it like a presentation with a giant power point going on behind him.The general public does not know which statements are less than truthful, and they also won't do the research on their own. It needs to be spelled out and not in talking points.A flow chart of Obama's associations, and his voting record would run huge.He should do this a week or so before the election. So Obama cannot prepare a response.

Yeah because our country doesn't actually HAVE that kind of money. Prices will continue to inflate at a crazy rate because of our money printing disease.People, a huge part of our big problems is the fact that we're turning into a consumer-only based economy. We need to produce. We need save. And only then can we spend. That's not even starting to get into our stupid high housing prices and credit/debt addiction
