This is idiotic. My grandfather is 91 years old. He smoked for 70 years and he almost died from a debilitating disease in WWII that made him lost most of his hair, and what he has left is stark white. He was also a truck driver for 30 years that beat his body to crap. Oh and he has prostate and lung cancer. He is 20 years older than McCain.
I'm amazed the Republicans didn't nominate him.

Constitutional law isn't exactly her strong point since she wants more of a "legislative" role in government. Maybe SHE should study up on the job she's applying for.
That's a joke. I think she understands as Vice President she would be the President of the Senate and would cast tie breaking votes.I believe that she understand that if she want's she can go down to the Senate everyday and perform her duties as President of the Senate she would have that right.

neretva's odds are silly but so is assuming that your grandfather's amazingness proves anything. For every guy who beat his body to crap and survived to his nineties we will probably find someone who took their health seriously and died in their 60s and 70s.

His point is why the hell are we suddenly getting all fearful? Biden has had 2 aneurysms and the Republicans never talk about it- why should we? It's a dumb thing to focus on, even though we are all starkly aware that right now some idiot is contemplating what he may do if Obama wins.

suddenly getting all fearful? It is just a logical extension of the politics of fear that have dominated this country for a decade.

So Obama\ Bidens plan to tax only the rich, and big corporations wont affect the poor or middle class?Memo to the naive, unless you are employed by a poor guy or a middle class guy, maybe it wont.If you dont buy products from a big corp, maybe it wont.If you dont own stock, maybe it wont.If you dont have a 401k with a big corp, maybe it wont.if anyone here dont believe the tax increase wont be passed to you, yea right. Finally when Obama raises the witholding on turney winnings to 50% I suspect old danny boy might get some buyers remorse. P.S. Mad props to copernicus for correctly predicting, { altho in different context } who would cry in this debate.

Love how everyone is so bothered that Palin practised for a debate.Yep, that's the first time a politician ever practised for a debate. Before this, they just combed their hair and went out swinging from the hipi_feel_pretty_screen_shot.JPG
I didn't post it because I thought it was true. I posted it because it was funny.
Unfortunately, I'm only qualified to speak as a sucker.
I like you because you know yourself ;-)

Not me, there would be numerous assassination attempts that day. One of them is likely to be successful. Then Robert Byrd will get in and immediately croak then we get Condi. A Black Women, best of both worlds and Obama will have no power to stop here, or her teeth.

Yet the Dems are sure that giving 700 billion to big corporations will trickle down to the middle class. Anbody see a problem with these 2 schools of thought? If I was McCain I would be hammering away on this.

Here is my big problem on the debateCouric asked her for specific instances where John McCain called for more regulationShe said "I'll find them and get back to you"Her whole message is less governmentIn the debate last night she seemed to admit that a lot of the mortgage problem was due to lack of government oversight on what was going on in the financial marketsShe was again challenged on McCain's record of regulation and prodded to answer this in terms of the current problems and she completely avoided the question by saying I'm not going to answer what you want me to answerLook if you still believe in less regulation fine - expound on that point and make your case - but she couldn't answer that question - she didn't want to answer that question and she instead said - no let's go back to taxesIt's the biggest domestic issue facing the country right now and she absolutely refused to talk about it - I don't see how this can be deniedDon't tell me it's the democrats fault - don't debate the issue for her - I'm sure that you can discuss this intelligently - I don't want to get into that debateJust tell me why she refused to answer that question - because a real candidate and I'm not trying to be partison here - I'm not saying that democrats have had any great answersBut a real candidate answers that question to the best of their ability

I don't think markets and the mechanics of it are her strong suit.

And there are pediatric oncologists who are very busy with dying 15 year olds.

Didnt she respond with McCains 2004 attempt to reign in FNMA/FRE that was blocked by the Dems? Or did I project that on her, since its such an obvious winner?

Plus, forgetting the mortality problem, I simply do not need a vacuous airhead delpoyed in any capacity at the highest levels of government. McCain made an utterly terrible choice in this case and did not do his homework. That unfortunately does reflect poorly on him. One of the President's main jobs, after all, is filling employment vacancies. If he made this choice for VP, who would he nominate to the Supreme Court? No, we had better get used to Obama presiding over a monster recession. Good news there too. There will be insufficient funds for him to carry out his Socialist agenda. Then we'll get rid of him in 2012.

She mentioned this in her opening remarks"Now, John McCain thankfully has been one representing reform. Two years ago, remember, it was John McCain who pushed so hard with the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reform measures. He sounded that warning bell."but this exchange can't be deniedBIDEN: Well Gwen, two years ago Barack Obama warned about the sub prime mortgage crisis. John McCain said shortly after that in December he was surprised there was a sub prime mortgage problem. John McCain while Barack Obama was warning about what we had to do was literally giving an interview to The Wall Street Journal saying that I'm always for cutting regulations. We let Wall Street run wild. John McCain and he's a good man, but John McCain thought the answer is that tried and true Republican response, deregulate, deregulate. So what you had is you had overwhelming "deregulation." You had actually the belief that Wall Street could self-regulate itself. And while Barack Obama was talking about reinstating those regulations, John on 20 different occasions in the previous year and a half called for more deregulation. As a matter of fact, John recently wrote an article in a major magazine saying that he wants to do for the health care industry deregulate it and let the free market move like he did for the banking industry. So deregulation was the promise. And guess what? Those people who say don't go into debt, they can barely pay to fill up their gas tank. I was recently at my local gas station and asked a guy named Joey Danco (ph). I said Joey, how much did it cost to fill your tank? You know what his answer was? He said I don't know, Joe. I never have enough money to do it. The middle class needs relief, tax relief. They need it now. They need help now. The focus will change with Barack Obama.IFILL: Governor, please if you want to respond to what he said about Sen. McCain's comments about health care?PALIN: I would like to respond about the tax increases. She then falls back to the old trick about how the Democrats just want to tax you (admittedly its a smart trick) but she says nothing about regulationBIDEN: The charge is absolutely not true. Barack Obama did not vote to raise taxes. The vote she's referring to, John McCain voted the exact same way. It was a budget procedural vote. John McCain voted the same way. It did not raise taxes. Number two, using the standard that the governor uses, John McCain voted 477 times to raise taxes. It's a bogus standard it but if you notice, Gwen, the governor did not answer the question about deregulation, did not answer the question of defending John McCain about not going along with the deregulation, letting Wall Street run wild. He did support deregulation almost across the board. That's why we got into so much trouble.IFILL: Would you like to have an opportunity to answer that before we move on?PALIN: I'm still on the tax thing because I want to correct you on that again. And I want to let you know what I did as a mayor and as a governor. And I may not answer the questions that either the moderator or you want to hear, but I'm going to talk straight to the American people and let them know my track record also. Again, I'm not saying that there aren't possibly quality Republican answers to that question, but she didn't have one and she absolutely refused to answer it after being specifically pointed to it a number of timesIt's not like this was a shocking trick question it's the exact question Couric asked her and that she responded with "I'll find some and get back to you"If she wants to answer - deregulation wasn't the problem fine - but she instead pointedly said I'm not going to answer that

Impossible. You didn't make one.
Here let me explain it in small words. You said McCain had a 1/3 chance of dying in office. I used my Grandfather as an example (which is completely irrelevant) you then came back (expectantly) with another irrelevant example of a child with cancer. Proving you you have no idea what you are talking about, and that your basis (and statistics) for McCain dying is no more relevant than my basis of my grandfather living.

This is a good point, I have no idea why McCain is not out there hammering this fact home. He and other republicans did raise the alarm on several occasions. YouTube clips are all over the place showing the democrats on Barney Franks committee were completely covering up for the buddy Harold Raines who basically cooked the books to get he and his cronies big bonus' Maybe McCain is trying not to politicize the issue,(he nor Obama said much in their debate). Here is an important question to ask. Why is the media not pointing this out? Back to your question. My answer is that I don't know why she didn't discuss it more. Maybe it is too complicated to get into in a debate setting. I want to know why McCain is not out defending himself. He is actually one of the few people who did try and do the responsible thing. Why he has remained silent, i don't know. But if he doesn't speak up it is going to cost him the election. It is all about the economy now.
