Official Palin/biden Debate Thread

Recommended Posts

Pretty much proves my point.Everyone I know or have heard interviewed that has spoken one on one with Bush says he is a very smart guy, but his poor public speaking skills results in a complete belief that he is stupid. The point has been driven home to the point that it is now a 'fact' and will be for the rest of our lifetimes regardless of it's truth. That is also happening to Palin now. People are pretending they know her because they've seen her speak to a reporter a couple times. Some of whom were downright antagonistic about their interviews.I never thought you would actually read Huffington or Moveon, they are just the democrat's first level strategy vehicles for the last 8 years for vicousness and lies while keeping their hands clean. It is filtered by the time it reaches the news, they only report them as bloggers, then quote them word for word as a source.
Well, in fairness, a lot of this is relative. I think most people think he is stupid for a president.....not stupid in general. If there was constant tv back in the day, a lot of presidents might have come off as stupid or hickish (Andrew Jackson, LBJ, Ulysses S. Grant and a bunch of others jump to mind). So, yes, I get your point and agree with it mostly. As long as you admit his public speaking is a complete disaster.I think you are also right sort of on Palin. This is what happens when you pick someone to be VP when no one knows them at all. There has been this huge rush to get to know here and all people have to go off is "If Putin invades Russia, I have to look out for that" and "I read what people put in front of me". She may be smart but so far she has come off as a bit dumb.

She is not stupid compared to the man on the street. But to be second in command of the most powerful nation on Earth? Utterly frightening. A HOCKEY MOM CAN'T BE MY PRESIDENT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
Silly boy, pretending the president job is tough...You just hope thigns go good, and everyone thinks you did it, and if goes bad, you will get the blame.Other than that you can only get into wars. And even then you need congress to okay it after a few months. ( Like Biden did with Iraq )

First, her approval ratings in Alaska have dropped significantly since she was tapped to be the VP pick...
All the way down to 68%Despite being lambasted by the national "Media" and Democratic Spin Machine.Compare this to a congress struggling to stay in the DOUBLE DIGITS of approval ratings.Wanna bet what is going to happen to her Alaska approval rating after the debate last night?

Frightening why? What will she handle on a daily basis? Do you have any clue how she will be used, how she will be "deployed" if you will? Of course you don't, now carry on with the blathering mindless rhetoric.

You know what. This is pretty silly. No, she isn't stupid - She ran a business, was a Mayor, and was elected Governor and served well in each case.Just guessing, but I'll bet you haven't accomplished 1/10th of what she has accomplished. You certainly have the right to think/say she is stupid but you look pretty silly to me when you do.
You're right, I've never been Mayor or Governor. Accomplishments are defined in different ways so comparing me or any other person (and our accomplishments) not in the public sector to a career politician will be very difficult. That said, she's still dumb as a rock. I mean it's come to the point where heads of state have to speak in such simple terms so as to not offend people with that "fancy" talk. They're running for the highest office in the country! I don't want someone who joe six-pack or hockey-mom can relate to, I want an intelligent, coherent thinker. I guarantee that if YOU were to have a debate with her, not knowing who she is, you'd come away thinking "what a ditz!". I guess it doesn't really matter though since banks and corporations are pulling the strings no matter who becomes president.

Maybe the drop in Alaska is because they'd like to see her doing the job they ELECTED her to do instead of traipsing all over the country campaigning. I'd be interested in seeing how the difference in approval levels for Obama, Biden and McCain have held up with the people they're supposed to be representing.

15-18% drop after she was picked for the chance to have a prestigious job is a big (and odd) dip in my book.I bet it will go up after last night though. Thats true.

Maybe the drop has to do with the 24-7 coverage of how stupid she is and how terrible she is and how she is fit for nothing except starring in porn. Last I looked even eskeemos have the pikshur bocks. It's fairly obvious what has been happening to her.

This shows how stupid you are.If the banks ran the country they would just have congress give them billions of dolllll..............HEY WAIT A MINUTE!

His speech after 9/11 was pretty freaking good. So was his State of the Union Address after that....his 30 second sound-byte speeches the past week or so during this "crisis" have been HORRIBLE.

Love how everyone is so bothered that Palin practised for a debate.Yep, that's the first time a politician ever practised for a debate. Before this, they just combed their hair and went out swinging from the hipi_feel_pretty_screen_shot.JPG

I know, but as a whole, he sucks as a speaker

I think you're just sexist.
Not at all. There are many intelligent women who can cogently discuss political philosophy and run our county in time of war or peace. But Sarah Palin is definitely, and obviously, NOT one of them.

"Also, I dislike Palin too but she is only the VP candidate." A VP that, God-forbid something happens to McCain should he be elected into Office, will take over the Presidency. She just doesn't have enough experience to run this Country. If she was a Democrat I'd still feel the same way.
She has more experience than Obama.......that is a no brainer.

Here, let me explain it you. The Vice President becomes President if the sitting President croaks. Given McCain's age, the odds are 1 in 3 or so that he will die. That makes the odds 1 in 3 that we'd have this vacuous hockey mom, as leader of the free world and primary architect of the defense of western civilization.YIKES! Oh wait. She can see the Russian ICBM silos from her house. No prob...

Constitutional law isn't exactly her strong point since she wants more of a "legislative" role in government. Maybe SHE should study up on the job she's applying for.

Nice credibility there, remember: 87% of all statistics are made up. ...but you even managed to get your made up statistics wrong: The odds are 100% that McCain will die, we all will.

His post 9/11 speech was credited as one of the best ever on any topic, and last week's Wall Street speech as one of the best ever at explaining a financial problem to the general public. He's also extremely funny when speaking in a non-political setting.

So your irrational fear of death drives your decisons? This is REALLY what it comes down to for you? How very logical and persuasive, hmmm, I just may have to change my vote and go back to sucking my thumb and peeing the bed at night. I am convinced that in your scenario she would be all alone with no cabinet, no secretary of state, no secretary of defense, no generals, nobody to help poor little Sarah. It would just be her all alone!!! What will she do? Oh, lordy, the U.S. will be in total dissaray, apples will be going bad on the shelves, banks wont pay me in cash they will hand me cornbread instead.

This is idiotic. My grandfather is 91 years old. He smoked for 70 years and he almost died from a debilitating disease in WWII that made him lost most of his hair, and what he has left is stark white. He was also a truck driver for 30 years that beat his body to crap. Oh and he has prostate and lung cancer. He is 20 years older than McCain.
