I suppose although - the one thing that I thought was interesting about 24 was that torture wasn't even ever questioned - it was the ruleDavid "Jesus" Palmer did it to the head of the NSAEvery agency had their own torture specialistThey've tortured innocent people and said - oops my badIt was as if they were saying - our official policy is no torture and then the entire government went in the back room and giggledIt's actually a serious issue and since the very fate of the world is on the line each year in 24 its never a real argumentThe real problem with torture is that allowing it publicy starts getting knuckleheads like lyndie whateverhername was in on itAnother thing i find interesting is the following - they've tortured like 100 people know on this show and each time its a totally different method - I understand if Jack's in the field and all he's got is a fountain pen - but shouldn't there be one method of torture that's proven most effective? The secret service guy is electrocuting guys - CTU is using needles - someone study this - we should be more efficient in our torture
Well that's the only interesting moral dilemma in the series - is it wrong to use torture, and how can you define when it is ok and when it isn't. Further, when is it okay to use straight-up murder, as Bauer has done many times (the decapitation I mentioned before being the best and most ridiculous). I'm totally with you on the italicized - I love it though. Sometimes they've got that guy with his scary chemicals and his box of monitoring how much he is killing you or whatever, and sometimes Jack just threatens to cut your eyeball out. One that they do use semi-frequently though is the ol' shoot a motherfucker and then press on his wound and withhold treatment until he complies. Two all time favorites (for shock and awe value): 'We have your wife and children and we're going to kill them one by one starting now,' and also 'I just shot your innocent wife in the leg, comply or I'll keep shooting.'

I've just been watching season two the last couple days - i had totally forgotten that jack shot that pedophile and told george mason to get a hacksaw!i agree that it's an interesting thing to explore but if you look at 24 every single episode tells you one thing - ignore the rules and go rogue any chance you get because you (usually Jack) are always rightI forgot tony knocked out chappelle too - the other funny thing about the show to me is that unless you are a main character - you are extremely incompetantthis lke the whole show is stolen from Die Hard where the higher up the ladder you go the stupider you are "Guess we'll need some new FBI guys"every single time a cop is given someone to protect they wind up deadyou could surround Kim with the entire marine corps and somehow Ernest T Bass would get ahold of her by throwing some rocks!

Yeah that's a ridiculous staple of Hollywood action. "You four FBI agents, guard this door....Dammit they're all dead and the super secret terrorist device is gone! I don't believe it! Don't worry, I'll track them down myself with backup from the only 3 people in the world who are definitely not moles, I got this."On a coincidental note, I've also been re-watching season 2 lately, probably because this season reminded me that the show was good sometimes. I barely even saw season 6, it was weird. Anyways though, here's what's been bugging me: Why did the evil sister plan her wedding for the same day as the attack? I'm about halfway through so far and forget a lot of what comes next, but that just doesn't make any sense to me. A couple other random season 2 notes: President Palmer was so badass, and I'm totally missing Chloe.

lol i just rewatched the end of season 2 where david palmer gets poisoned by that womans death handshake - i knew they referred to it later by showing he had a scar on his hand but couldn't remember the long term ramifications and then found this on wiki - who knew you had to play a video game to understand a tv show[edit] 24: The GameSix months after Day 2, Palmer is recovering from his assassination attempt. Although he makes televised appearances to make it appear as if he is strong, healthy, and running the nation, in actuality, vice president Jim Prescott is acting President. The reality is that Palmer is confined to a wheelchair and is heavily medicated. However, terrorists attempt to assassinate Prescott, leaving the Vice-President in critical condition. Palmer decides at this point that he is strong enough to take over the responsibilities of being President of United States once again.A few months later (In the comic, 24: Midnight Sun), after the events of Day 2 and 24: The Game, President Palmer allows the opening to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge near Fairbanks, Alaska. His reasoning behind this controversial decision was so that the nation would no longer be manipulated by the men behind the oil companies (a reference to Max and Peter Kingsley).

Ahhh the death handshake, I had forgotten that bit of genius. I also just randomly watched a bit of early season 5. The opening scene where Palmer gets shot is hard to watch, just waiting for the bullet to show up mid-conversation. Now that was a helluva season.

Season 2 tilted me so hard, definitely the worst plot twist ever.

yeah the thing about the wedding is odd - other than they just wanted to mislead and make her seem innocent as hell becore she turned into Charles MansonI think that you can argue that she got with Reza so that she could use him as a scapegoat for the transactions with Sayid AliShe definitely had no problem using sex as a weapon - later on she blows someone for the bomb triggers :club:

I watched the 30 Rock episode where Jack (Alec Baldwin's character) finds out his girlfriend's grandma hates him because a soap opera character who's evil looks like him. Then Jack buys the soap opera and makes the evil character into a good guy and suddenly grandma loves him. Funny but so true.President David Palmer was such a great character...I wonder if Colin Powell had a chance for the presidency had 24 come out sooner.

Chloe dressing down that Larry Miller guy might have made the entire season worthwhile
QFTIt went something like:Chloe - "Whoever set up this network/system didn't know what they were doing!"Larry - (pause) "I set up this network." (pause)

Larry Miller FBI: What’s the matter is there something wrong?Chloe moonlighting house mother: I’m feeling a little exposed here. If someone is out there working for Dubaku, shouldn’t we be doing this more covertly?L: As far as anyone knows you’re working on shoring up our firewall, besides this is the only space available where you’ll have full access to our server.C: That’s inefficient! Whoever set your network up didn’t know what they were doing.L: I set up our network that way.C: Oh …(wrinkles her nose and after a long pause) … something else?L: You worked with Bauer for a long time didn’t you?C: 7 Years off and on.L: That’s impressive … that you survived the experience.C: What are you talking about?L: Only that a lot of people didn’t. Curtis Manning; Ryan Chappelle; his own wife!C: Are you saying it’s Jack’s fault that his wife was killed?L: You tell me?C: Jack Bauer is the most trustworthy, honest man I know, and he’s my friend. Maybe you should worry less about him and more about the mole in your office working for Dubaku!Larry then wets himself.

I missed the last 5 minutes or so after she alerted the local police (is that what she did?). What did she borrow from Billy Mays, and what did she do with it?

I can usually overlook most plotholes in an effort to be entertained, but really, you give your most crucial piece of evidence to random unknown chopper copper to fly to the FBI. Seriously?
