It gives him a chance to make a nasty check raise and I don't think it gets a call from anything you beat or a fold from anything that beats you. Basically I don't see a purpose for this bet. You are basically bluffing, since you will only get called with a straight mostlikelI guess you might get called with 2 pair, or maybe top pair if the villain is a retard. It's close. Unless the villain is Johnny Chan or Mike Damon, he doesn't have a straight. Our hand looks like crap, too, so I think you'll get paid off by top pair or better often.
