KowboyKoop 0
lets just talk about the world's game in this thread' date=' capice[/quote']that is what I was trying to do in both threads...but you or SPM wouldn't let me./sigh you were just talking about the term soccer vs football and whether or not SPM takes offense to it and what not' date=' it went around in circles and when you argue the same point ad naseum you end up beating a dead horse, that is what happened[/quote']oh...so now it has gone from..me trying to start disputes with people and talking about pointless stuff to...oh....you were making the same points/asking the same questions a little too much. I still don't understand it, but whatever. The reason I was repeating myself is b/c I was trying to ask a question..but he thought I was trying to start a fight..I was just trying to clarify my question and AVOID a dispute. PimpRock 0
Mabn... I cant believe you guys debate football... REAL football. I shoulda been checking back here more often...For what its worth boys the term soccer is non offensive, maybe some politically correct types would correct you for using it but its just a secondary term for football.I just got done watching Match of the Day and Arsenal were off the hook. Just a shame they have dropped so many points in the league already. Still, they are gonna need some of that form to take on Real Madrid in Europe in a couple of weeks. My mom (from England) hates it and I seem to recall listening to a British football announcer do a game and someone said the word 'soccer' and he blew up at him..it was pretty funny. Anyways...I figured noone would want to accept their sport having its name "Americanized" from football to soccer. Then again, I am assuming 'soccer' is an American term...it is...right?? I'm going there over the summer for a team trip and it's gonna kick a$$.You coming to Newcastle from the US? The best thing I can say in dont get your hopes up buddy... Although the women are easy up there. Kowboy... Its pretty much a secindary term... like Gridiron for NFL (I think). Of course I can only speak from a British perspective. We do think Soccer is the American term but it would provide a mild irritant at worst. And of course were all far too reserved and polite to challenge you about it. Tally ho. PimpRock 0
My gf is a red and her family are blue (I live in Leeds) and we been to both C.O.M and Old Trafford this season. I though C.O.M was the far superior stadium and atmosphere despite what Fergie said.

Just a shame they have dropped so many points in the league already. Still, they are gonna need some of that form to take on Real Madrid in Europe in a couple of weeks.they easily could've put in 10 today. Henry missed a sitter and that disallowing of the Pires goal from that set piece was really weak. That wasn't a game as much as it was an exhibition at the highest level
PimpRock 0
Agreed man... I cannot think of a more one sided match in recent memory, including all the FA cup games last week. The scary thing is Middlesbro are quite a good side. The REALLY scary thing is that Mcclaren is heavy favourite to be the next England boss....I saw an interview with him afterwards and he didnt have a bad word to say about his team. Bizarre.

ahosang 0
Just a note on the origin of the term 'soccer'.It is not American, but English. It's an old public schoolboy term which is taken from Association Football. The alternative form of football was of course, 'rugger', or Rugby Football.
gkunit20 1
BigD, you like Liverpool right? They're my second favorite. I give them props for the Comeback last Club Championship against a good AC Milan team.
