99, Shortstacked

Recommended Posts

Down to the last 60 of a 3000-player MTT; the blinds are getting very large even for the bigger stacks. Payouts don't get very interesting until the final table. MP2 and CO have played decent poker, though somewhat on the loose side. Button is new to the table.PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t6000 (8 handed) Poker Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FCP)UTG+1 (t30304)MP1 (t111978)MP2 (t199024)CO (t43850)Button (t99507)Hero (t64984)BB (t58828)UTG (t32440)Preflop: Hero is SB with 9 :club: , 9 :ts . 3 folds, MP2 raises to t12000, CO calls t12000, Button raises to t55555, Hero ???

Button could be making a sqeeze play - fold and watch the action. With no reads on the Btn, you've got to believe he has aces, kings, queens or AK. Dog to the first three and in a race with the AK. This no place for 99 and 4th to act vs a raise, call and re-raise.

Fold. 1) Button raiser is showing incredible strength committing over half his stack2) CO has no fold equity at all, his flat call preflop is either very very strong or he is an appaling player. You're going to be all in against at least 2 players meaning you probably have to fade a whole heap of overcards or hit your nine. You can find better spots with fold equity later
