Citizen Erased 0
I'm sorry if this is not the place to post this, but I'm not sure where else to post it and I kinda need to just tell people of what happened, and no one's on AIM/ MSN at 6am (UK) so here goes...Okay, so I went to my usually "hang out" for a Friday when I'm home from Uni, which is great as I know loads of people there, and anyone you don't know is just really friendly and will help you out. Had a great night. Reunioned with some old friends, met some new people that were awesome, and had an all-around good night. At 3am, the place shut and we got ready to go home, but ended up staying outside the place until around 4:20am as a girl couldn't get home so we spent about an hour helping her out, and eventually we worked it all out and she got back with a friend fine. So we start walking home, three of us - me and my best friend since primary school (3 years old - we're now both 19), and a guy I'd met that night. The guy left about a third of the journey in, and so it was me and my friend. Before we left we said that we'd been looking forward to this walk as it's great, and never has any trouble. We used to do it every Friday without fail for two years and doing it again reminded us of when we were in college (Im now in Sheffield, not Manchester, for University) as we hadnt done it for ages. So we talk about everything. Music, entertainment, going out, and also life things. You know the topics. So all's going fine and we're loving it. We're about 40 minutes in to the walk, and get to the bridge that's about 5 minutes from our houses (we live a minute away from each other). It's a bridge, but has a main road going by it so it's totally in the open. Just like a road going up. We're walking up it and two people are coming down on bikes. I stand behing Mike to give them room to pass. Of course, there's the daunting feeling in my gut that this could go wrong. They stop and ask the time. I look at my watch and say "Wow, five past five!" and smile at how late it is, trying to get a laugh or something from them. They say thanks, and ask if anyone's around where we came from that they should look out for. I answer, "No, mate, I didn't see anyone." So they ride off, and me and my friend keep walking. Two minutes later we're coming up to the other bridge. This bridge is different. It's got two sides to it. One for pedestrians and one for bikes. We're almost home. Once we're over this bridge, we're on my street, and I've walked over that bridge thousands of times, so we're basically considering ourselves home. We're talking, anyways, and I look back and see two people on bikes about 50 yards away. I assume it's the same people we just saw coming back and going home or something. I'm distracted by them though and am naturally very pessimistic in these situations, so I continue talking to Mike, but in nonsense since I'm not thinking what I'm saying. I look back again and this time the two people are about 10 yards away, and are wearing balaclavas. Now I know I need to do something. I immediately hit Mike with my hand, but before he can react the people have jumped off their bikes. They walk over, and the taller one, who was about 5' 11" comes over. I'm about 5' 8" and my friends about 5' 10". These two are stood in the bike lane on the right, and we're on the pavement to the left. Me and Mike are facing sideways/ the bike path, and I'm about 2 feet to Mike's left (closer to where we're heading). So the guy turns to us and says "sit on the curb." Of course, I know I just can't do that. I'd be helpless. Suddenly, he moves no more than 6 inches towards my friend, and I just seize the opportunity, and I run. I run faster than I've ever ran, and I'm scared. Immediately, the taller guy starts chasing me. At first, I'm no more than a few inches out off his arm span. I mean, I thought I was getting caught and I was done for. Whilst hoping for help, just hoping, he shouts, "Stop and I won't hurt you". Obviously I keep running. By now, my adrenaline has taken over and I'm in flight. With this guy shouting, he obviously sacrificed some stamina and had fallen to a few feet away. As I got to the end of the bridge, he stopped. The bridge splits in to two paths at the end. To the left are steps, towards my house. On the right is a bike path that goes adjacent to a main road on a curve. Whilst running, I decide to go right as I know the area and designate myself a path. I turn right, and get to about 20 metres from the bridge when I look back. The guy who just chased me is walking back to my friend, where his fellow thug is waiting. I don't know what to do. I just want to run back and get them to flee, but I know that's not an option - it just wouldn't work. So I continue running. I run into the closest housing estate and consider banging on people's doors to wake them up, knowing that every second was vital. I realise that it would take anyone too long to get ready, if they answered at all. I pause for breath to ensure my path's clear, and to take just 5 seconds to think. Immediately, I start running to the main road, where there's a phone box. I run in it. Dial 999, and just yell "police" down the phone. The operator comes on, and I explain what's happened in a frantic manner. I have to repeat it as I'm so out of breath. I tell the woman the location, but it's on a bridge so this takes too much time for me to be comfortable. Eventually she understands. I give her the address of my friend, where I intend to be waiting for him, and my home address in case that wish to find me. I end the call, which lasted probably no more than a minute, but felt like 20, with a desperate "please, hurry up" and I hang up.I run to my friend's house, intending on waking his dad to help him. I stand outside and stop. I don't knock on. I don't want to worry him at this hour, and I know Mike wouldn't want me too bring his dad in to this. It sounds weird, but I was sure it would be a mistake. But now I was just standing there, helpless. I'd phoned the police, but they surely we're going to be there for at least 10 minutes and by then my friend could be unconscious. I panic. I see cars pass and consider waving them down, just hoping to rally some aid. Anything to act now. I begin to feel sick for leaving my friend like this. I question every action I've made. At 5:23, the police haven't come and I've heard nothing. I don't know how long ago I phoned them. I can make a rough estimate that I phoned them around 5:12, so that's 10 minutes, and they should be there now. Still, I hear nothing. Nothing happens. I stand there, adrenaline still going, still thinking what I can do. Suddenly, every thing just stops for me. I stand still, and for the first time in years, I pray. I stand there, hands together, eyes closed, and just pray that my friend is healthy. I wish I could do something, but I don't know what. I pray for about a minute, and just hope for an answer. Now, I'm not a religious person, but this was pleaing. I started pacing up and down the street, agitated, scared, feeling inadequate. Thoughts cross my mind. The darkest thoughts cross your mind. Things you wish you'd never have to even consider could be happening right now, and I'm stood here doing nothing whilst, for all I know, my best friend's unconscious, being kicked like a football, totally helpless. What can I do? I really don't know. At around 5:35am, I see a teenager walking down the road. I'm stood at a T-junction, so can see down three streets. The teenager is not my friend and is not any of the thugs, as he was wearing a bright top and no one else was. When he's about 30 metres from me, he stops and looks at me. I don't know what to think. He carries on walking towards me, and I begin to recognise him as an old friend from high school. "Hi, Zach". "Hey, Ash". "How's it going". "Pretty bad, actually. My friend's in trouble". "Does he have long hair?" "Yeah, have you seen him?". At this point, my heart's in my hands. I'm almost don't want to hear the answer. "Yeah, he was walking down the road before" He offers me to use his phone. I'm scared of phoning him, half expecting the scum that attacked him to answer. Mike answers. I just say, "I'm at yours" and hang up. Whilst I'm waiting for Mike, Ash (the teenager) explains that he was stopped by the police. This is a huge relief. It means the police got there. Surely they helped Mike if they managed to stop Ash. Before the conversation gets into any real detail, Mike arrives. It turns out he'd gone to mine to see find me, and so my mum was woken up and had driven him down. He walks over, and eventually I see that, physically, he's okay. I ask him what happened and how he was. He was fine. We got talking and apparently when I was being chased, the other scum said to him, "Give me your phone" "Don't have one" "Give me your phone, before I get my gat [assuming it's slang for gun] out". He then reached in to his pants, as though going for a gun, at which point Mike just started running in the other direction than I ran. He then hid in some bushes until the people rode past, and then headed to my house after about a minute. I explain to my mum that I'm fine, and proceed to wait outside Mike's for the police. We talk for about twenty minutes about the whole saga, and how fortunate we were. We make some poor jokes to try and liven the mood, but we're still in adrenaline. I'm shaking. I don't know if it was adrenaline, the cold, or a mixture of the two. Mike said he felt sick. We decide to call it a day as we both needed to get home and warm up. I arrive home, make myself a cup of tea to warm up. After about 10 minutes of just sitting down, it all just hits me. I relive the moment in my head - I still am. It could have all gone so much worse, and I realise that. I begin to feel physically sick and then simply distressed. I wish I could just forget it, but I know I'll never forget just how fortunate we were to both get away with our health. I don't really know why I'm posting this. I just feel like I need to. The feelings and thoughts going through my body whilst I was just standing there, helpless. It's sickening looking back, and when I wake up next (I don't expect to sleep for a while) and look back, I'm going to properly digest it. For now, though, I'm just counting my blessings. Sorry. This is probably a lot of rambling without a meaning or moral. I don't know. There's definitely much to take from an experience like this, but for now I don't want to dwell on it. I just felt like I should post it. Like I said, I haven't digested it yet, and probably am still in shock. It's just all so scary, really. I'll try and edit this post with some meaning, but for now, I just wanted to share this experience with you all.Thank you for reading.

Metternich 0
these were just some young guys right? Why not just sit on the curb, give them your valuables, and let them walk away. That's the standard procedure for muggings in the states, nobody gets hurt and everyone can move on. Hell, I've had friends get mugged by people who were fairly polite about it (that's partly a Minnesota thing though). But if there was some reason to think you were going to get hurt by these guys, I don't know, some Jeffrey Dahmer type shit, then yeah, get out of there. Don't listen to all these guys who say you should have been sticking around for your friend. In this world all you really have is yourself, that's all you can depend on. Worst case scenario your friend dies. You'll feel awful. But you'll be alive, and you'll have all the time in the world to live your life and get over it and make a new friend. Better than risking your life for someone who will probably forget about you in a few years anyways.

I'm in a bad mood. And to everybody joking and saying shit, just gtfo now. I have no idea what you're trying to prove.Anyway, stay safe, hope everything is okay now

DM_FLOPPEDIT 0
]wow thank g-d you guys are not injured. Now i understand everyone reacts diffrent and i dont expect you too be foolish and start to get in it with men wearing ski masks at 5am.They say fight or flight wich is prefectly justified, but just incase u ever get in a anothetr dangerous situation you should be preaperd. So if you don't have to phsically protect yourself and running is a safe option im all for it.Seen as your mate was left behind in your mind you should begin to yell on top of your lungs HELP!! very loud screams he's killing me HELP police call POLICE HELP!!! this should make alot of guys that want a quick quite robbery abandon mission.once safely away and you see tall guy walking back to your buddy, you should continue to scream for help and YES if u belive your friend is in grave danger than u should be waving cars knocking on doors. You should 100% be waking his pops up,u could possiblly be saving his life or preventing brain damage. At your safe distance u should beging to throw rocks at them all the while be yelling on top of your voice for help BLOOD! HELP!! POLICE!! RAPE!! Option 2 is to always carry a weapon not a nessacarily a 9mm to (home games POT Odds RAC) but an exdenda stick maybe pepper spary, brass knuckles all work rather efectively if you have to defend your self.Option 3-In your exact situation not the optimal reactin i also like to refer to Option 3 as the river Bluff shovel. ILl explain buy talling you story that happend to me in mid june I was crashing at my boys aprtment in Toronto he live at 711 libertys which is Bay and gerrard amazing condo really classy and like $2200 a month for 2 bedroom so after partying at ultra supper club we head back to condo around 4:30am 5:00am I get really hungry so a take a little walk to get a shwarma(middle eastern tasty rap)Well i begin to walk towards yonge st and than jarvis well for those of you that dont know The city Toronto usally at the intersection of Jarvis & Gerrard there what we call woirking girls ladies of the night aka tutes prostis hoes hookers u get the idea.So as i approach the st i see to really hot blondes in next to nothing talking to a cop in his squad car, thest girls cant be a day over 20 and i cant belive that these girls are actually working the street they are out of some poro mag way to hot to be stroling the streets they dont seem to be hooked on drugs but what do i know imo these chicks woild go for 1k at like the bunny farm or high end website broffle.Anyways i see some seedy peps like pimps and what notbut i feel totally safe bc coppers are right there well as i say that to myself the piggies move on to some othert dounut store all of a sudden its just me in my dressy clothes on the street corner with some rough guys. When a african american gentelman on a bike and a hood on rides up beside me and asks are those your girls refrencing the 2 hotties,i ofcourse say no and continue to walk, hes like nah man dose must be yo ladies again i say no and carry on walking. In my mind i'm beging to wonder if either those are his girls and he thinks im trying to move in on them or he rally does think there mine and wants to move in on me to aquire these ladies in what u would call a hostile take over.So i see him rideing slowly back to me his one hand is in sweater like he maybe packing heat he again asks or more like tells me that these girls are mine i say no he stops his bike and has this sinister look in his eyes my heart is puming i see a van across the street with tinted windows and I start my life Bluff, in a very forceful sern voice not yelling but extremely strong and lound I say 54 DIVISION POLICE OFFICER STEP BACK SIR!! I SAY IM CONDUCTING A POLICE INVESTIGATION THE BLUE VAN IS WITH ME SURVALNCE UNIT SO DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR AND WALK AWAY!!!!!! OR YOUR SPENDING THE NIGHT IN JAIL BUD!!! By now my hands are sweaty heart thumping im just waiting for him to make the call with his 40caliber.When WTF he mucks he folds he lays down a monster and actally says sorry sir and boots off really quickly down a side street and my life value bluff holds up Thank You POKERVT! I'd like to think I wouldn't ditch my friend but who knows...self preservation is the natural response so I don't blame you for running.
