young players living in vegas?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I just moved to Vegas and I was curious if there were any young, Im 20, guys/girls that frequent the forums that live in Vegas as well. If so, if anyone gets together and does any little tournys or practices and go over strategy, things like that. It would be kind of cool, I know most any other forums, cars/motorcycles get together and have "meets" and drives, just curious if that exists down here in Vegas for poker.Kevin

Thas cool, do you know if anyone ever has get togethers to play or anything or since your legal, do you just mostly go to the casino?

Its true, I've never seen anyone get carded going into the poker room, I usually play $4-8 at Bellagio most days after work (I work at Bellagio, so I just go upstairs:) I'd like to play in some sidegames though.

Im 24 and have lived in vegas already twice since I have turned 21. For all those young guys moving out there be very careful, its a tough city. The first time I moved out there was right after I turned 21 with my g/f and that is definately not a good idea. The second time I stayed longer and attended UNLV. Although I have never played poker in las vegas I was a regular at the suncoast casino and became well know amoung the players and the employees ( by the way dont bang the girls that work at the casinos that the casino manager is interested in.....very bad idea). I thought I could become a professional at betting sports and partying....well if you move out to vegas you have to take it very serious and I have learned so much. After finishing school here shortly I plan on moving out to vegas to start playing poker and taking it much more seriously. I have only been playing poker for over a year but have managed to do very well. As far as jobs and places to live. The price of homes have went through the roof in the past few years and you could find a very nice one bedroom apartment for around 700-750. I would stay away from living on the east side though. As far as jobs, I was a blackjack dealer and my first job pai 6.15 an hour and tokes were about 100 a day. Best advice I can give you is when you move there, stay away from the casinos for 3 months otherwise its easy to get sucked into the town Good luck

at $4-8 I do ok, I win about 3/4 of the time but I don't win a whole lot. But I usually only play about 2-3 hours per session.(I get too antsy to play longer) In a month I''m hoping to go to $8-16, we'll see.

this is ridiculous............nobody wins 75% of their sessions...

haha. yea he's right. Winning 75% of your sessions means you should stop what your doin and get to the poker rooms! Your losin money if your not playin right now. :club: But, back to the subject. I'm thinkin about goin to vegas in a couple months. I play out here in LA, and i've become very good according to my stats. Might be cool to take a chance in vegas. Might be easier if i could get some others to share the housing costs.

Is winning 75% of sessions a lot? I easily accomplish that but I figured most winning players are in or around that range. What do you other players average?

So far Vegas has been great for me. Ive only been here a month but had my job lined up before I moved here. My main purpose for moving here is school but landing my job as a valet making pretty good money for a 20 year old wasnt bad either. Throw in the idea that I could play the game I love, as soon as Im 21 of coarse, I was in. My rent is really high but I didnt know any better and got a really sick brand new apartment on the west side (nice side) of Vegas and pay just over $1200/mo for 2 bed/2 bath/garage/1100 sq ft. Hope this helps.Kevin

I'm so envious of you guys, down here there's one casino in town and the only poker it offers is carribean which seems lik a good way to lose to the house if you ask me. Vegas would be, wow. That being said legal age here is 18 :club:
