New Hammond Horseshoe Poker Room

Recommended Posts

Got to the room today about 10:30. Finally got a table around 11:15 (MJink is.....older than I expected)Played 1/2 at the most obnoxious table ever (including one guy getting cut off from the booze).Big hand: I raise in BB with AdQx, Mr. no more booze calls. Flop comes 3 diamonds and I bet. He calls and starts telling me if a diamond hits I am in trouble. Blank hits the turn and we both check. River comes 4th diamond, he tries betting all in before I act, I throw out a bet, he pushes all in and I call with the nuts for a 1k pot. Left up about 1300 and change. Would go back again.

Unfortunately, I had other things to do throughout the day so I never made it. I ended up drag racing and now my car needs parts. So, I'm gonna try and go to Hammond on Monday and win a bunch of money to pay for a bunch of new stuff. Haha. Seems like 8/8/08 was pretty unlucky for several people. Especially the guy who went broke with 88 twice.

MBN.And Mike, I did see you, but you seemed busy as I was leaving so I didn't stop by. I also had a cubs hat on, which is probably why you didn't see me.

Yeah Jeremy wanted me at the front desk yesterday and today. Which is good because he trusts me but tips suck! I just got back from Ameristar. I played for an 1 1/2 hours after work and lost 100. Bleh :club: Wow is that room ugly. they only had 5 tables going.

What were some of the bigger NL games? Me and The Fluffdog posting! Fluff was not there btw because we were passed out from being up for 48 hours and driving to medinah then walking a round of 9 holes of golf at medinah country club! Ballin'!
Friday night they had 10-25 and 25-50 no limit going. When I left tonight they had 75-150 limit and dikhead Phil Gordon just sat down as I was leaving. Biggest no limit when I left was 10-25.

Weeeeee!I'm going to the Rascal Flatts with Taylor Swift concert in Chicago soon. :D:D:3h:D:club:
I don't like country music at all but it sounded like fun to go. It was a fun atmosphere at the concert so I had a good time. The crowd seemed arround 65%-70% girls. The Weeeeee! was for not sleeping for a long time, lol!I'm going to a Dave Matthews Band on Sunday night. I do like DMB so it should be really fun! :D:4h:qh:5c:ts

Whats up guys.Anyway, I played on 8808 also. Honestly my cards were pretty damn cold all night. I played for 8 hours and saw AK exactly once and 4 pocket pairs. I added up all of my AQ hands also and found out that I lost $300 on themLuckily there were a couple pots that kept me in the black. QJ in the SB, UTG raises to 10, 2 calls, I call. Flop QJ2 two spades, I check, and it checks around to the button who says, "it checked to me?" and bets 20. I raise to 50, folds back around to him and he makes to 150. I'm a little confused at this point, so I talk to him a little bit and he basically lets me know that he didn't flop a set so I push him all in for 235 more, and he calls quickly. Turn is the 7 of spades river 10 diamonds. He turns over AA and I win. All night though people were slowplaying AA in multi-way pots preflop. I'm not sure if this is a trend or I was just at that type of table, but it happened 4 other times also. Anyway I played 1/2 for 8 hours and left +230.The room itself I thought was really nice, wow was it busy though, I sat on the 1/2 list for about 2 hours and I got there at 4. There was a big interest list for the 10/20 HOSE game but it never got going, which was a bit upsetting. Either way, I'll make a couple trips a month, since it's about a 50 mile drive from LaPorte. Nice meeting you Mike, I'm sure I'll see you there again.P.S.F*ck AQ

Starting Monday August 18th at 7pm and every Monday thereafter leading up to the WSOP circuit event, $25 buy-in, yes $25 and the two remaining players will receive $5000 main event seats. This will probably be limited to the first 150 players plus alternates or depending on table availability. Registration begins at 5pm in the poker room.

Chris R, I was wearing a blue nike hat. I was wondering why I didn't see you coming around because we needed chips constantly. Luckily we had hot chicks instead.

Played there on Saturday. Obv a great poker room, lots of tables. Not much I can say about the room that hasn't already been said. Was able to get into a 20/40 LHE game after a short wait, and was happy to see the games were relatively soft. Tried to get into a 40/80 LHE game but there wasn't one running at the time, might have left before it got started. Played a little 2/5 NLHE and some 2/5 PLO as well. Definitely will be visiting again!

Perfect day for me. Every other Monday I can make it up. I was going to ask if they're planning on regular tournaments throughout the week. That's a pretty good deal for $25, considering most of the satellites are $175+.

I was there today and was very impressed by the casino! Just a few complaints about the poker room...granted this is mostly through the afternoon on a monday so may not be a regular thing, but the dealers... wow simply terrible very uninterested I don't understand there problems people were tipping you'd think they would want to get out more hands. Quite slow IMO. Action was also quite nitty I did manage to get away up about 140 after about 4 hours or so of play. Table tops are also terrible. Not only the lettering but man were they dirty! For being brand new I expected them pretty clean. The casino should invest in some sweepers. Other than that it was a great experience for me and if I wasn't 2 hours away I'd be there every weekend. Obviously missed the O/8 game couldnt get one going but am excited to play it live again.

Agreed, they definitely need to start sweeping them nightly when they start to empty out a bit.

Was gonna post up with this update as I got in about a 6 hour session yesterday. But, I was way too tired by the time I got home at 2 a.m.Beautiful casino as a whole, great card room. The felt was a little dirty, but the lettering didn't bother me at all. I don't know what everyone has to bitch about. Yea, it's excessively large, but it didn't effect me at all. I'd complain more about the dealers than anything. You can tell they're new at it, nothing time won't fix I'm sure.As far as my session goes, overall I'm down $100 from playing $1/2 NL. I got married to top/top on a flop of J22 out of the SB and lost it all to A2. I should have been able to get away, but 5 hours of sleep after 12 hours of work and a 2 hour drive doesn't equal good poker. So, I took a break. Hit up the Push bar, admired some of the waitresses and had a drink. Carried on and found the buffet upstairs. Damn good buffet, huge, but at $20 a person it almost shocks ya.Came back down to the poker room after clearing my head and got on a 1/2 table within minutes. When I first came in, they had a seat open and I was able to plop right down. Not too bad of a wait. I had some swings. Had a cooler with Ad5d on the button on a 553 flop. I came back from that though and left only down $100.The action is nitty as can be, but at the same time if everyone was getting cards like me, you'd be a nit too. This was probably the nittiest I'd ever played. I was either getting premium hands or garbage. Very rarely could I get a good spot with a suited connector. I'm aware that you don't need good cards to play, but I was not getting anything good in the way of spots or cards.Picked up AA THREE times in the BB. And every time all the money got in the middle. Only got aces in the BB all day, but someone would raise to $7 or $11-12 and I'd repop it and they'd call. Then they'd call me on the flop to the river or it'd be all in on the flop. I like that action. Picked up Kings once and it was a scary board against two opponents. K82 all clubs. I fired at the flop and get called by two people. Turn is a non club so I slow down to see what happens on the river. They both check the river so I fire again and they muck. For those wanting to know the action, it's juicy but nitty at the same time. The standard raise is $12 PF even if the person is UTG with usually a minimum of 2 other callers. One guy was making normal 3x raises and he kept getting re-raised. This pissed him off, so he left. Not sure why though. I tried making a $6 raise early on and nearly the whole table called me. Learned my lesson there. If you got a hand, don't be afraid to raise it 6x the BB, you're gonna get called. Some soft games in the $1/2 area, but I just couldn't get anything going.Edit: As jink posted up earlier, Phil Gordon was there over the weekend. Last night there was an Eli Elezra look-a-like. I had another guy tell me that there was someone walking around that looked like a young Chip Reese, but I didn't see him.
