New Hammond Horseshoe Poker Room

Recommended Posts

Well, I am coming back from Florida tomorrow, but I have a couple of freerolls to play in at Four Winds in New Buffalo this weekend for leading in hands played. One of the freerolls is for this baby:headsupchallenge.jpgPretty cool thing to have around the house, but if I could get 7 grand for it I would be ecstatic. (retailing for 10 grand) Hopefully I'll still be in the top 20 hands played even though I've been in Florida for over a week. The other freeroll is for 5 grand, 1300 for first 100 players. I think they are on Saturday and Sunday respectively. After that though, I may make the Horseshoe my new home if the room is as nice as everyone is saying. If any of you guys are planning to be up there shoot me a PM, or just look for the guy wearing the autographed FCP hat. Also, if anyone has any idea about the tournaments, please post a schedule or something about the structure, buy ins, etc.Anyway, I'll see you guys there next week, try to leave a few donks for me to bust. :club:

We had 22 games tonight (Most ever in the Chicagoland area!) 4 5-10 nl 1 40-80 limit 1 75-150 limit 3 20-40 limit 5 2-5 nl 5 1-2 nl 1 10-20 limit 2 3-6 limit Also opened a 100-200 blind NL holdem / NL (yes NL) Omaha high in the VIP room after a few games closed. It was a 10K min buy-in 6 handed. I thought we would spread high limit but this was huge. I didn't even have a sign printed this high......lol I had to make one.
This is a qoute one of the poker room managers posted this morning about last nite after I left.

Hoosier is gonna wet himself.
Also I was talking to a few of the Horeshoe dealers last week while playing at Resorts/Ameristar and they mentioned they were being trained in Triple Draw, Badugi, and razz, so with any luck they will get some mixed games going....

Was there yesterday.. the casino is beautiful, lots of work still being done, but overall it's a beautiful property.I played the 1/2 game for a half hour then moved up to 2/5 and the games were pretty soft overall. The 2/5 wasn't playing overly high on my table, but I managed to get up 500 at one point. Cashed out up around 200, but it was a good experience over-all.Only complaints I heard were that the cocktail service wasn't very quick.. definitely need more waitresses. As well the system they had for empty seats wasn't really working as we were 7 and 6 handed a few times with open seats.Other than that, the room is super beautiful. I even played the pokertec tables.. pretty cool actually. We were four handed playing .5/1 NL and I won 37. haha. You can cash it out right where you deposit it, so that's pretty sweet. Anyway, back soon, today or next week, not sure which yet. A++ room! Big games being spread, as posted above.

Drinks aren't free, and I saw on 4 they are kinda expensive. I'm sad. Someone said $3.50 for a domestic beer.Everything else sounds awesome. Some people saying it's nicer than the Vegas rooms. Even V and B??!?!?! (I'll wait and see that one for myself though)

That is correct. If an interest is there they will spread it. Yes Kurt drinks are NOT free. List was running at full speed. My first actual shift is Saturday 4pm-12. We should be at full capacity. And remember people, please tip your dealers and chip runners! :club:

Make sure you bring some $1's then. Basically, if I get 10 whites, then I'll tip, if not, then it's your own fault, lol.

Gallo don't you live like 5 minutes away? You should've been there 3 times already!!
looooolI've only ever been to the Horseshoe like 3 times ever. And I never played, I only would watch a buddy of mine play Carribean Stud. It's funny that being so close to the casino that I'd go more often, but I never liked playing BJ or slots or anything, I've always liked poker.

Is the whole casino new? I never knew there was one in Hammond. I just went there for the Industrial Strip. Haha.I see that they got some big name bands playing there too. Skynyrd, STP, etc. I'm gonna have to start making trips over that way.Edit: I see now that it hasn't even had the grand opening yet. Looks pretty sweet.

Whats security like in the place? Tough to get in? What city is it located in, I apologize if that was already stated!
Should be Hammond, Indiana. Possibly Chicago on the Indiana border. I'm tempted to go to this casino soon.

Hey Mike, do you all pool your tips with the dealers? I never tip chip runners, cashiers, et all besides the dealers since I assumed it all went to the same place.Look forward to checking this out sometime in the near future.

Few weeks ago on 97.9 the Loop, they were talking about the new grand opening of the The Venue at the New Hammond Horseshoe. Apparently Stone Temple Pilots and Smashing Pumpkins are gonna be playing there in a few weeks. I was pretty pumped and looking to getting tickets but since it's in the casino, you have to be 21 to get in. Major bummer as I have another 6 months to go.
