Commerce... Are You Kidding?!?!?

Recommended Posts

I can't believe what commerce did. The low limit games there (200nl) is unbeatable and not worth anyones time. They are now dropping FIVE dollars per pot PLUS 1 dollar jackpot. Also, if there is no flop, they are taking 1 dollar for house, and 1 dollar for jackpot. The casino is taking 180 dollars off the table every hour. Thats 20 dollars per person per hour. I am not sure what hourly rake games go for but they are generally higher limits. The 200 nl, is 2/5 blinds. The 100 nl is 2/3 blinds (Not sure on that might be 1/3) The 500 nl is 5/5 blinds. LA is NOT the place for low limit players. Thank god I live in vegas. In Vegas they take a dollar up to 4 dollars based on the percent of the pot. In LA they take AUTO 6 dollars (1 for jackpot which is a joke) if there is a flop. Any comments?

it is almost as bad as Florida. I was stunned at the bad structure of the NL cash games at the Commerce. I had heard so much about what a great poker room it was.....and then I get there and I am playing with 40 big bets in a 2/5 game. oh well...there is always vegas and AC.

In Colorado, we have Low stakes spread limits, with a $5 max bet. On the weekends, pot is raked up to $5 for the house and $1 for the bad beat. It is teh suck.

I believe Harrah's properties in Vegas drop $5 + 1.Part of the problem at Commerce is that CA law doesn't allow them to rake a percentage of the pot. That's why they drop based on the street instead. And the since they take the drop before the flop you can't even chop blinds. The other part of the problem is that CA won't allow any new cardrooms which limits competition and as long as people are willing to be raped Commerce will keep raping.Edit: In some ways though we've had $4 rake as a standard for how long now? Given inflation and the fact that poker doesn't bring in a ton of money for casinos I'd expect we'll see a lot more $5 and $5+1 in Vegas too. In a few years I wouldn't be surprised to find that the lowest stakes available in Vegas/AC go to 2/5.

Commerce's low stakes game have had a longstanding tradition of sucking imo. They do have the best high stakes games anywhere though.Mark

Yep, Blackhawk sucks. On the plus side, the players there seem to be mentally retarded or something..their play is mind-boggling.

I thought it was $4+1 in vegas, but I may very well be wrong.Fact is, that the games are so good, I don't really care.

Does anyone know what the rakes are at the nearby Indian casinos like Morango, San Manuel and Pechanga? Maybe it'd be wiser to just go there on the weekend.. just wondering for personal interest. Thanks for pointing this out... I have to be honest, I've never really paid attention to rakes but now that I'm running like a cripple I should start looking at these things..

Pretty sure all the Harrahs rooms are $5+1 but the Harrahs rooms pretty much all suck so I don't ever play there anyway. I think PH might actually be $5+1 too but as long as you get in the game with Drunk Dave it won't matter.

Pechanga is horrible. 4+1 even at the $80 max buyin game.

morongo and san manuel are 3+1, however if no flop or if there is no action on flop than they dont drop any.

When I last played at Caesars 1.5 years ago it was $4 and thats a Harrahs property. Sigh 4 years ago I played at the Plaza and they maxed out 5% at $2.50. Actually when I first started playing in Vegas most rooms were 5%. Last time I was in Vegas they were takin 50 cents on a blind steal preflop in a 1/2 game :club:
