Card Shuffler Machines

Recommended Posts

Some guys are just SO poor at dealing - misdeals, flashed cards, other mistakes... Thinking of using a card shuffler machine to speed up play at Home Games. Ideally, I'd like to have two decks and designate a Dealer and have him run a deck thru the machine a few times during a hand in progress. Of course there could also be a designated shuffler to feed the dealer a freshly shuffled deck.Anyone have any luck with these machines? I remember the early versions were pretty crappy and noisy.

Do not buy the ones they sell at Walgreens or Target, they suck. That's all I know. I haven't tried any higher end ones.

That'd be cool, but I hear they cost $20K or more
You can't buy shufflemasters from what I understand. I believe that they lease them to the casinos for like $2k a month or something like that. I'm about 90% sure that the casinos don't/can't buy the machines though and that the company makes a ton more money this way.

This one has been in development for a while now:http://www.shuffletech.com/They had a demo at the WSOP Gaming show. From what I saw, it worked well and wasn't too loud. I don't think they have shipped many units (if any) yet.I will have one mounted in my table if they work out to be a quality unit. They have a 30 day exchange period now. I don't think 30 days will be enough use to see if it's any good. There is a long thread on 2+2 about it:http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthread.php?t=183499

I just read the entire 2+2 Thread and it looks like they still haven't been able to get any out the door. If that works as designed at that price point, I may just have to treat myself to one.

We don't rotate the deal at my home games. One or two guys (than can deal) will deal from the center of the table. No misdeals, exposed cards and the game moves a lot faster.

Yep. Done that and it really helps - just seems like a decent shuffler machine could eliminate a step and adds a little "bling" factor. Certainly not a really big thing given how often we have a home game, but I like toys. At a recent Home Game they used the "Two Designated Dealers" approach. Unfortunately they both sort of sucked. One guy kept flashing the bottom card. They also did one thing that drove me a little crazy - they'd deal out the Flop, and then burn and deal the Turn and River face down so all 5 cards would be out there waiting for the action. Then of course they'd "rabbit hole" just about every stinking hand that didn't go to the Turn/River. If they didn't do that then they'd often put the cards out in some stupid order rather than Dealer Left-to-Right. The Flop would be dealt, then the Turn might go to the Left of the Flop, then the River under those four cards!!! Difficult to reconstruct the hand while considering your River action.

Mechanic-y no?
I actually got accused of that last weekend. :club: I just got off the phone with Shuffle Tech. The units have started to ship. If you placed an order today, you will not see the product until late August.

Think I'll wait for a couple of Product reviews. Perhaps a Christmas present to myself.
