i love "aces and kings"

I've read the Men chapeter, and I'm half way through the puggy chapter, and it already is the best non strat poker book ever, kicking Absolutly right in the crotch... from the puggy chapter..."Ive got two aces?, " he (Eric Drache) said to Puggy. not yet sure he wanted to call with his last 200, but hoping he'd be able to read something in puggy's reaction.Puggy, sitting tall on threee extra seat cushions, trying to gain height advantage that would translate into an intimidation factor, gace away nothing. He stared back at Drache with a totally neautral expression. Then his face softened, and he appeared to take pity on the younger player. " son," he said, "you seem like a nice kid, so I'm goring to speak to you like your father. Fold the Aces, save your last 200, and go pla in a less expensive game. I've got you beat, and I don't wan't to se you go home broke. You're going to be a winning poker player some day, but today's not that day,"Drache thoguth about it for a second. Then he mucked his aces. Puggy raked in the chips, and squinted at Drashe. " you stupid Donkey," he brayed, exposing his hand to show he was holding nothing but rags."HAHAHAHAHH I love Puggy, and I love this book.

Nice, going to pick this book up at lunch today. Sounds great. I love poker stories and the chapter listing is amazing. I'll post review when I'm done reading in a few days.

Just added it to my Amazon shopping cart. They also just shipped my SSHE but it looks like Harrington Vol. 2 is on hold.Anybody read Diary of a Mad Poker Player by Richard Sparks? Looks interesting.I'd recommend the Michael Konik books too if you like to read about gambling in general.

First off, this was stud, not hold 'em.. have you ever played stud sir?Second, if you never fold aces to anyone, then you are the donkey.Though I agree, this guy was a donkey in this case... scared money don't make none

I am only through the first chapter (which is on Puggy Pearson) and I am already loving this book. The writers are very good so it is a fun and easy read. Its a nice break from all the classic pure strategy books out there like Theory, Tells, SSHE, Harrington, etc.

In my hardback edition Stu's section is pages 77 - 96. I havent got there yet, but it looks nearly verbatim to the Cardplayer version. Even has the same title "To live and die in L.V."

I just finished this book a few minutes ago. It is easily one of the best poker books (strategy or non-strategy) that I have read. The chapter on Ferguson was excellent and really shows what a calculated individual he is. Ferguson actually pre-thought about the decision as to whether or not he would celebrate his 2000 WSOP victory. The chapter on Men gave me a really sick feeling though, and cost me to question his integrity. Anyways, I am rambling now, but the book truly is an excellent read.L*
