BigDMcGee 3,355
http://www.iwatchstuff.com/2008/07/watchme...iler_is_slo.phpOkay, I'm excited. If you're a comicbook fan, and you've never read the Watchmen, shame on you.If you're kind of a comic book fan or were as a kid but got tired of them as you grew up because they were juvinille, go out and buy the Watchman graphic novel.. you can get them even at Borders and Barnes and Noble, and at any comic shop.If you think comics are dumb, go out at read this graphic novel. It is absolutely the greatest deconstruction of the whole concept of "superheros" it was the first ( and in many ways, the greatest) attempt to show what it would really, really be like to have superheros and masked vigilante's, what it would mean geo-politically, socially, psychologically, inter-personally. IT also has one of the greatest endings of any story, book, movie or comic. It is a staggeringly good comic. I'll be shocked if the movie comes close to the comic. but this trailer got me excited. Jadaki 0
I've been following a thread on the making of this on another forum for a while. I didn't realize the trailer was out already.
Jadaki 0
Saw the trailer before Batman, holy shit it looks like it will be great. The very end of the trailer when Rorschach says "The world will look up and shout save us... and I'll whisper no" instantly sold me on this movie. bigkg 0
I had no idea this movie was even being made until I saw the trailer for it. I was giddy right after seeing it.I doubt the movie will be able to capture what the comic did, but it will still be awesome to see.
Swift_Psycho 1
I doubt the movie will be able to capture what the comic did, but it will still be awesome to see.Agreed, and I probably fall into the category of people who are skeptical of the ability to translate the book to the big screen. There's just way too much stuff going on for them to cram into a few hours. I'm actually pretty interested in seeing the movie just to see just how much had to be left out.And because it will probably be entertaining as hell either way.
BigDMcGee 3,355
Of course the movie won't be able to capture everything... the comic has sublty and nuance that a movie couldn't hope ( and wouldn't hope) to cover. What I hope it does do, is have an entertaining, well thought out mystery, with an amazing ending, like the comic. Anything else is bonus.
brvheart 1,757
So I saw this preview before the Dark Knight tonight and it didn't look exciting or even remotely good. Of course, I have no idea what the comic is about and I've never even heard of it. It was hilarious how the trailer was showing all these characters and then it would pause on them like I was supposed to get excited to see them... and all I could think was, "Man this looks gay. If I was 37 and lived in my parents basement, I'll bet I would have a HUGE hard-on right now."

pokerinc 0
so pumped for the movie, I haven't seen the preview, hope Rorshak's (s/p) voice fits what it sounded like in my head while reading.if anyone doesn't know it's the same author as V for Vendetta so take that as a point of referance.also, while you're out shopping get Frank Miller's "Dark Knight Returns". FARGOpokerND 22
So the preview interested me, so I went to Barnes and Noble today to look for the Watchmen series, but couldn't find them. What should I be looking for titles that have Watchmen in them? Or should I be looking for something completely different?

showstopper24 0
So the preview interested meSpeaking of the preview, in the original trailer, one of the characters had a gun pointing at the camera, but they were forced to change it to a walkie-talkie because trailers aren't allowed to show guns pointing at the audience. BigDMcGee 3,355
So the preview interested me, so I went to Barnes and Noble today to look for the Watchmen series, but couldn't find them. What should I be looking for titles that have Watchmen in them? Or should I be looking for something completely different?the watchman was a miniseries that ran in like 1986... it was only like 8-12 issues or so. It was put out with DC, but had nothing to do with the DC universe. The mini series is the only thing the watchman characters were ever in. If you go to a comic shop, or barnes and noble, just ask someone who works there.
FARGOpokerND 22
I was reading on Wiki today that it was 12 issues but on the 20th anniversary of the comic, they combined it into one book. Apparently a new re-release is coming in November this year as well.Time Magazine has the Watchmen series as the only graphic novel in the top 100 books of American Literature since 1923 (whatever that means...just sounded cool)
Jadaki 0
It's also the only comic based story to win a Hugo award. It's that good.
vonteego3 0
I'm a GENIUS.I used to date a girl that was a bit older than me, and she LOVED The Watchmen when it came out. A few years ago, rumors surfaced that it was gonna be a movie, so I went onto e-bay and bought the complete set, #1-12, first run, for $26 including shipping.http://cgi.ebay.com/THE-WATCHMEN-1-12-Full...p3286.m14.l1318That's not my set on e-bay, but I'm trying to determine the best time to sell it... wait until we get closer to the release, or try to capitalize on the excitement due to The Dark Knight? And does anyone wanna buy it? Id probably wait until its close to opening, but then again the reviews could be shitty and it may bomb at the box office so now may be the best time.
