NickZepp 0
In 2005 you had a lot of pros that weren't big names, but they were decent pros. No real big names outside of The Mouth and maybe Andy Black. 06 again no real big names outside of Cunningham but you have a huge chip leader that's marketable. Last years table had 1 real name pro in Watkinson and then a couple guys with good personalities like Khan, Kalmer, even Rhame. And you had a couple others. If Scotty Nguyen didn't try and bluff his entire stack off and just stayed at his chip lead spot he wins it last year easily because he would have picked off one of Yang's weird raises and ended him quickly. But instead we get a bland personality win it. This year looks worse because it's a bunch of complete unknowns really.

They want it to be shown like a sport. Part of the fun of sports is that it's happening live and it's unpredictable. However, live poker has to be a crapshoot basically for it to be entertaining to casual fans, because watching the WSOP FT live with no hole cards is not something that is entertaining to a casual fan. Balloon guy 158
uhhhh...what? so he called off about 1.5million more? seriously? to win a 4mil pot? with T5off...He's gonna get a lot of crap if he's posting on some kind of forum He could have folded
Lrgetrout 1
Another reason why I'm worried about this. This gives the people running the WSOP an "out" with regards to holding a months delayed final table. If it does well, great, do it again next year.If it does poorly, well, that has to be because there were no big names at the FT. So they'll try it again next year.

copernicus 0
If shes calling an UTG raise that got called from the BB, and then stacks off with AJ on a board where no one can call unless shes losing, she wasnt going very far anyway.

THOUGH you are right it kind of seemed like a desperate and forced "I want to double up" play.
SlapStick 0
Marquis seems like a good player. Someone said about Jerry Yangs weird raises and Scotty would have ended them. Marquis snap called all in on the river with just a pair of aces, after being re-raised on the turn and being shoved on the river by Cantu. Seems like a good player.

I remember a hand from over a year ago where he made a sick call on Grimstarr and got sucked out on for a $90K pot or something like that. He's certainly no slouch. Also, just saw Rheem got it in with TT vs 99 for 2nd place chips and lost. Grr.Mark

psujohn 0
I think we'll find that a lot of these "unknowns" have more poker experience than you'd guess by looking at some random name. I'd never heard of guys like Wassicka and Tuan Lam before their FT appearances but they turned out to be fairly experienced and pretty good players.Shortie is coming back with an M of 3. Likely won't be a long stay for him unless he manages a quick double. Hope the manage to get him another 100K or so from somewhere to make the return trip worth while. FHgrad99 0
I'm probably going to pull for Dennis Phillips to win it because he's the hometown guy (I'm from the St. Louis area). Tim McKernan, who also played in the Main Event, is a local sports reporter who has played with Phillips at Harrah's Casino in St. Louis, said that Phillips is a really nice guy and a very good player. There is an interview with Dennis Phillips online at the following link:http://www.insidestl.com/ITDMorningAfter/t...88/Default.aspxThe interview is in segment 4. psujohn 0
From CraigMarq's post game interview it sounds like he was rooming with Raptor during the series - not necessarily Raptor's roommate on a regular basis. He also said he didn't plan to do a lot to prepare for the FT which I though was interesting. It'll be interesting to see who if any does a lot of coaching and if they're able to change successfully.
