Zach6668 513
"At least 6 weeks" for Lupul means he misses 25 of our 42 regular season games, but should be back for playoffs. Arnott failed his physical, so I can get rid of his 25 cents, but I'd need to be weary of having the right number on my roster, in that case, as I'm only 1 spot over the minimum. Zach6668 513
One after this one, I mean. Problem is I'd be wanting to do it just to clear a bit of cap for this season, and you don't have any extra cap to give me a break on it.
Zach6668 513
Mights as well update the whole thing as we head into the season: Forwards: Corey Perry - ANA - 16.25 / RFA Jason Spezza - OTT - 14.50 / RFA David Booth - VAN - 4.25 / 4.25 / UFA Milan Michalek - OTT - 4.00 / RFA Travis Zajac - NJD - 3.00 / RFA Michael Ryder - DAL - 2.75 / RFA Joffrey Lupul - TOR - 1.25 / UFA Jordan Eberle - EDM - 1.00 / RFA Brad Marchand - BOS - 1.00 / 1.00 / 1.00 / 1.00 / UFA Tyler Kennedy - PIT - 1.00 / 1.00 / UFA Matt Cullen - MIN - 1.00 / UFA Evgenii Dadonov - CAR - 1.00 / 1.00 / 1.00 / 1.00 / UFA Nick Foligno - CLB - 0.50 / 0.50 / 0.50 / 0.50 / UFA Nick Bonino - ANA - 0.50 / RFA Mikael Sameulsson - DET - 0.25 / 0.25 / UFA Jason Arnott - NYR - 0.25 / RFA Defense: Zdeno Chara - BOS - 5.50 / RFA Dan Boyle - SJS - 4.00 / RFA Kurtis Foster - PHI - 1.25 / UFA PK Subban - MTL - 1.00 / RFA Dennis Seidenberg - BOS - 1.00 / 1.00 / UFA Kevin Klein - NAS - 0.75 / 0.75 / UFA Filip Kuba - FLA - 0.50 / RFA Kent Huskins - DET - 0.25 / RFA Goalies Boston Bruins - 4.00 / RFA Calgary Flames - 0.25 / 0.25 / UFA Blue = FA auction pickups Green = Farm promotions
digitalmonkey 929
The season is only starting now? Was there a reason for waiting? Waiting for Nell to return?
iBeaver 409
People's scheduled wouldn't sync up. Needed time to do off season signings which end a week before the largest fa draft since the innagural season. Plus many other reasons.
Zach6668 513
Because apparently 3 months off for a lockout wasn't enough time for people to research the upcoming auction. And also, and mostly, because it was tough to get schedules to sync.
Zach6668 513
First NHL goal since the auction? Marchand from Chara.
Zach6668 513
More good news. We're only a few days away from adding PK Subban back to the lineup.
InternetExplorer 2,609
I am pretty flustered at the cheap pickups you got. maybe I'm overvaluing zajac/michalek/ryder.
Zach6668 513
I am pretty flustered at the cheap pickups you got. maybe I'm overvaluing zajac/michalek/ryder. Hopefully it'll make up for overpaying for Perry and Spezza. Zajac is hard to figure out since he's coming back from a bad injury. Could be good value. Michalek is probably about right. Likely overperformed last year, but is a top liner, top PP guy in Ottawa. Ryder surprised me the most. The max I could bid was $3.50 and the guy bidding me up was the only one who had more than me. Ryder was easily the best guy left. Like, by a mile, coming off of a 30-30 season. If it went up to 3.00, my next play was $3.50 and pray, but somehow he let it go at $2.75. Hopefully they work out well for me. Don't love my forward depth, but could get a nice boost with Lupul healthy, Skinner called up, and these guys panning out.
Zach6668 513
Made a few changes prior to the opening night festivities this evening. Dropped Arnott, Cullen, Foster, bought out Dadonov, and promoted Myers, Skinner, McGinn. Forwards: Corey Perry - ANA - 16.25 / RFA Jason Spezza - OTT - 14.50 / RFA David Booth - VAN - 4.25 / 4.25 / UFA Milan Michalek - OTT - 4.00 / RFA Travis Zajac - NJD - 3.00 / RFA Michael Ryder - DAL - 2.75 / RFA Jeff Skinner - CAR - 2.00 / RFA Joffrey Lupul - TOR - 1.25 / UFA Jordan Eberle - EDM - 1.00 / RFA Brad Marchand - BOS - 1.00 / 1.00 / 1.00 / 1.00 / UFA Tyler Kennedy - PIT - 1.00 / 1.00 / UFA Nick Foligno - CLB - 0.50 / 0.50 / 0.50 / 0.50 / UFA Nick Bonino - ANA - 0.50 / RFA Jamie McGinn - COL - 0.50 / RFA Mikael Sameulsson - DET - 0.25 / 0.25 / UFA Defense: Zdeno Chara - BOS - 5.50 / RFA Dan Boyle - SJS - 4.00 / RFA PK Subban - MTL - 1.00 / RFA Dennis Seidenberg - BOS - 1.00 / 1.00 / UFA Kevin Klein - NAS - 0.75 / 0.75 / UFA Filip Kuba - FLA - 0.50 / RFA Tyler Myers - BUF - 0.50 / RFA Kent Huskins - DET - 0.25 / RFA Goalies Boston Bruins - 4.00 / RFA Calgary Flames - 0.25 / 0.25 / UFA Blue = FA auction pickups Green = Farm promotions
Zach6668 513
So... started the season on a nice little 0-8-1 run... so I've traded everyone away and I'm "tanking" for MacKinnon or Drouin. Here's a summary of the trades: IN: Mika Zibanejad (farm) Marcus Johansson (farm) Jeremy Morin (farm) Joe Morrow (farm) Derek Forbort (farm) Jason Demers 1.00/1.00/1.00/ufa 2013 2nd round pick 2014 2nd round pick OUT: Michael Ryder Travis Zajac Milan Michalek Joffrey Lupul Zdeno Chara Dan Boyle Greg Nemisz (farm) Jared Staal (farm)
Zach6668 513
Anybody willing to share any opinions on my recent moves here? You guys must be sick of bashing Dale's trades. Here were the trades, broken down: to the Ales: Dan Boyle $4.00/RFA Milan Michalek $4.00/RFA Joffrey Lupul $1.25/UFA $7.00 in 12/13 cap to the Limidonks: Mika Zibanejad (farm) Marcus Johansson (farm) Derek Forbort (farm) Golden Seals 2013 2nd round pick Jason Demers $1.00/1.00/1.00/UFA Sean Bergenheim $0.25/0.25/0.25/0.25/UFA Kyle Wellwood $1.00/1.00/1.00/1.00/1.00/UFA $0.50 in 2013/14 cap $0.50 in 2014/15 cap $0.75 in 2015/16 cap $0.50 in 2016/17 cap (Note: The future cap covers a full summer buyout of Bergenheim, and 3/4s of Wellwood's full buyout. The 12/13 cap going to the Ales covers the difference in cap between players exchanged this year, we operate a little differently than the AHL while in the season, wrt to cap/cash) Limidonks get: Joe Morrow (farm) 2014 Golden Seals 2nd round pick Chad Larose .25/.25/ufa Tim Connolly .25/rfa 0.25 2013/14 cap Golden Seals get: Zdeno Chara $5.50/rfa Michael Ryder $2.75/rfa 7.75 2012/13 cap (Note: Connolly can be dropped any time with no penalty. The 0.25 in 13/14 covers the inevitable LaRose buyout.) Limidonks get: Jeremy Morin (farm) Brandon Prust .25 BlackDevilHawks get: Travis Zajac 3.00 Greg Nemisz (farm) $2.75 2012 Cap (Note: Prust can be dropped at any time, Nemisz goes the other way as he would have just been dropped from my farm for being terrible and to make room for Morin) ============== I maybe could have done better in the last trade there. I also had mentions of Kadri coming my way for Boyle and Chara, but we didn't get past preliminary discussions. I think I may come to regret that, though I think I did well enough for both of those guys to make it a moot point. Really big on Morrow, even if I already have Despres. I think Zibanejad will be a star as well.

Dubey 1,035
I think you did pretty well. If you were a week earlier you might have done better but with only a limited amount of "buyer's assets" to go around, the returns are naturally going to diminish as more and more trades happen. You chose to go with somewhat established prospects rather than purely picks, which is a strategy I like, as it pushes the timeline of your return on Assets closer to the present, which is never a bad thing. Overall strategy wise, If I was in your shoes, I'm not 100% sure that I would have been trading guys like chara/boyle/zajac/ryder that you got cheap at the auction as they possibly have value beyond this year, but I don't feel terribly strongly about that opinion either... Zach6668 513
Agree... I certainly thought about hanging on to them for next season, but also figured this could be a chance to grab another top two talent in a very good draft, after looking at other teams. I full expect to be pushing for a playoff spot next season, though my farm guys aren't quite as developed as I'd like them to be (so many of my big names need to take that next step: Silfverberg, Coyle, Strome, Connolly, etc).
