Ridiculously Long Trip Report - Wsop

Recommended Posts

First, the following people earned $5.17 each (tournament gross of $8,168 - buyins of $3k * .001 per person) and need to post their full tilt name here or PM me. I don't have money on stars or any other site, so if you don't have a full tilt name you need to set up a swap with someone and let me know who to ship to. You have one week to get the name you want the cash shipped to to me, or I can't guarantee I'll still have it. I put money online just to pay folks and I'm going to get bored and start to play with this money if you don't claim it.pt_specialFARGOpokerND (shipped)canateian (shipped)drcossack (disqualified for being a scumbag) (shipped to checky)dna4ever (pm him) (shipped)KugeGallo (shipped to AK)king1305 (shipped)Waffles2003gobears (shipped)Huskers20 (shipped)Ouch-8s (shipped)SpeedKillsTrueAce13 (shipped)Ko8e34 (shipped)mhoward29 (shipped)checkymcfold (shipped)gatortom64 (shipped)CodyHartman (shipped)blakheart Here's day 1: http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...howtopic=124697 I'll start with Day 2.Day 2 I woke up around 11am after not getting to sleep until around 4am. My family was still in town and were headed down to the mirage pool so I joined them after writing my day 1 trip report and got a salad and laid out for about an hour. It was nice and relaxing and what i needed to get my head on straight for what would be a 12+ hour day of poker. At the rio I took my seat at what looked like an OK table. The only players I had ever seen before were Men "the master" Nguyen with only 8k chips and the guy on my immediate left who had been at my table the day before and played very solid. Unfortunately, on the second hand of play men more than doubled up to over 20k with help from two people who went 1 or two bets each all the way and folded 7th to a single bet by men. Thanks....At the first break, I hadn't played many hands of consequence but had chipped up a little just betting scary boards against below average stacks and picking up a lot of pots uncontested. Shortly after the first break, I picked up my first rolled up hand of the tournament - kings - and sold it as a single pair of kings to men who ended up playing a huge pot with me with only a pair of aces and a low draw that didn't get there. Apparently all the people I had been pushing around before the first break and were now short stacks decided it was time to move and all against me when i had big enough hands to basically flip with and I knocked out 3 rapid fire and putting me over 40k in chips. This brought David Singer to the table. Ohhh boy. I had heard this guy was a weird rules nit but I had no idea. He came to the table with an anti bush shirt, on, a crazy silvery animal ring on every finger but 1, a slightly below average stack, and a bag of assorted weird smelling food. Within 5 minutes of him being there, he had asked 2 people to re-arrange the way their cards are in front of them during hands and clearly had history with an older european woman at the end of the table. While he was playing at the table, Marchant (CobaltBlue) was railing about 6 - 8 feet behind DS which apparently binked his paranoid radar. Rather than just turning around and asking him to move, he calls a floor, whispers for the floor to turn around and ask Marchant to move, and then when he's gone BUILDS A WALL OF CHAIRS completely surrounding his side of the table.Shortly before the dinner break, i play a huge crazy hand with david singer essentially on the bubble with 58 people left (56 paid). I start with 66 | 6 to David's Q. He complete / opens, I call, and the european lady calls with an 8. 4th:me: 66 | 6 T check, callEL: xx | 8 9 check, callDS: xx | Q J bet5th: me: 66 | 6 T 5 check, raiseEL: xx | 8 9 J check, angrily foldDS: xx | Q J 2 bet, callThis is where it gets interesting. The european lady stands up, takes 1 step away from the table and starts explaining her frustration, in another language, to a foreign reporter who is watching the hand go down as the dealer deals 6th street. I get a 6 for quads and david gets I think a T. Immediately he stands up and calls the floor and flips out that the lady is talking about the hand in progress. It is extremely clear that he is trying to get the hand somehow declared dead because he didn't like how he caught and has less than 3 big bets left with a monster pot on the table. I very sheepishly and calmly play the innocent guy who has no idea what the lady was saying (I don't even know what language she's speaking, just that I'd really love to be able to keep playing the huge pot with my quads). After 2 minutes of shouting between DS and the EL, the floor tells her to stop talking and forces us to act on the hand. I bet, DS thinks and calls. On 7th, I peel my card back, pretend to think for about 20 seconds, and bet. David thinks for-freaking-ever and keeps talking to me about how he has two pair and this is probably a really bad call trying to get a read on me and finally calls (leaving himself with less than a big bet).I roll my quads over, he says "nice river" (nice read sir..) and the european lady leans over, slaps me on the shoulder and shouts "Guuud hand!". What followed was without a doubt the saddest and most childish display between people in their 60s and 30s that I've ever seen. They again start shouting at each, taking turns mocking the other's ability with the english language, appropriateness, and maturity (a point I found exceptionally ironic). DS sits there steaming until he ships his half bet in a few hands later during hand for hand and Men, Vince Burgio, and I all check down and eliminate him to get into the money. As hellmuth and men both added to their dueling ridiculous number of WSOP cashes, there was an announcment, some applause, and shortly after, a dinner break which i spent with FCPers Giblertology, Troyomac, CobaltBlue, and Seacucumber who were all providing top notch rail support. Back from dinner I basically caught no cards for a while and then enjoyed a massage from my run-good massage specialist who massaged me on day 1. When she was over I felt super energized and ready to play with my slightly altered table which now included Tulkaz (PS tournament leaderboard leader), Vince Burgio, Men, marco traniello, and a woman I keep switching between calling the chris moneymaker and the lance funston of stud 8 for her ridiculous luck and not having half a clue how to play poker, much less stud 8. Every hand she was in, she had to ask how much to bet. Every. Hand. For 6 hours. 8J Q? Yeah, that's worth calling 2 cold. Why the hell not. Simply stunning. Men or I had her all in or within 1 bet of all in absolutely crushed no less than 6 times and every time she'd hit an inside straight draw or go runner runner low. It was the most amazing thing ever. Arguably my favorite moment of the weekend was embarassing hellmuth. He came over to show off his new ultimate bet cap and compliment Men on his cap. "I really like that hat Men, but my new ones WAY better." To which I couldn't help pointing out, "Yeah... but Men's hat didn't steal $3 million from its customers..."Phil got really quiet for about 10 seconds with a deer in the headlights look and finally said to me, "well, if it did... it gave it back." I couldn't help myself and came back with, "not all of it". Hellmuth turned and immediately left the table. As we were about to go to 3 tables, I went on a huge tear. Men had been drinking pretty heavily in the cycle of order corona, drink 1/2 of corona, spill corona all over the floor, repeat for about 6 hours, and was pretty drunk. I played two big pots with him. The first I valuebet / bluffed with a pair of 9s on my Ac Kc 9x 4c board vs. his A Qc 8c 7x board. He called on the river, I showed my 99, assuming he made a low and we split, and he turned over his cards, apparently very confused with only AQ high. Nice hand sir...The second I made my first and only wheel (A2345) of the tournament to his two pair. He tried to talk me into folding this hand. I laughed. I continued to roll with 3 tables left, eliminating Men when we got the money in on 5th holding 4c 5c 6c 7c 6x and binking both a high and low to scoop. With 2 tables left, I was roughly tied with Jonas Klausen, both of us having between 260k and 270k. Considering the number of short stacks left and the single level remaining to be played that night, this would have been a great queue to settle the heck down and coast into the final day top 3 in chips. Instead I dropped over 200k in chips in the last level in a combination of running bad, getting scooped in a few huge pots where i started 3456 and 3457, and then tilting / trying way too hard to get it back fast. I actually got all the way down around 20k before two double ups to end the night with 71k. During one of my double ups, I had 4 to a straight, flush and low when the chips went in. A managed to hit one of my billion outs and looked at sklansky sitting across from me and said, "I had a lot going on in that hand, DO YOU SEE WHY?". He did not laugh. The pokernews reporter cracked up. In general sklansky was a bit of a turd. He wouldn't talk to anyone at the table, but constantly got up and walked around to talk to people at other tables. He showed particular disdain for me. I'm guessing because I was wearing my old Christian fraternity's sweatshirt and he's a borderline militant atheist. After 10 levels of play + breaks Cobalt dropped me back off at the mirage 10/13 in chips and exhausted.Day 3Unfortunately, there isn't much to say about the tournament on day 3. I came into the day with no plan and overexcited. Considering the distribution of chip stacks between the tables, I should have sat on my hands barring rolled up aces or easy stealing scenarios. I was in seat 1 and had an extremely tight player in seat 2 and sklansky in seat 3, who played zero hands until he made the official final table with 2 chips left. The 3rd hand I folded split 8s to a complete by Tulkaz and on hand 6 I found myself with split kings, which turned into kings up and a 4 flush on 6th vs a board of 7 4 7 6 and a player who would correctly aggressively bet made lows with redraws to good highs. With only two big bets left and a player all in on the other table, I decided to get it all in and he instantly declared "full house" with 7 4 down. I didn't catch a miracle king on the river and was done for what felt like a min cash of $8.2k. Places 12, 11, and 10 finished in the next 20 minutes. In all reality, I should just folded the kings on 3rd. It was a very dumb and costly mistake. On the bright side, I think I learned more about stud 8, and especially tournament stud 8, in those 3 days than in the last year playing online. I walked around the rio with nothing really to do so I jumped in a 2/5 uncapped PLO game and had good session until Acid Knight (Matt) called me and said we were going out with Zach (supermod), his GF, and a couple hockey forum guys. We wound up at the MGM playing the greatest pit game ever invented: texas hold em bonus. The dealer had some interesting ideas about how to play. Where I come from, we call it "retarded". As matt and zach pointed out, loudly, they had no idea they were talking to the 11th best LHE and 13th best Stud8 players IN THE WORLD. The dealer definitely straight up called us annoying. Day 4 I woke up around noon and headed over to the rio to play some cash games before the 5pm HORSE. I got into the 2-5 uncapped PLO again and did fairly well over about 3 hours to leave up just a little over a buyin. I got to my HORSE table and within 10 hands learned two things: there were a few very solid players at my table, and there were 2 players who had absolutely zero clue what they were doing. The first was on my direct right and told us he had never played razz before and didn't even know the rules. The other was a very loud, boastful, and functionally retarded italian wearing a soccer jersey at the end of the table. He completed in razz with a 9 second to act with A, 3 and 8 behind him. He went 3 bets on 3rd in stud 8 with split 9s... twice. I quickly got up to 4k and then started getting absolutely crushed when the italian got desperate and started raising every hand, every street, and started pulling cards out of his butt. He put two extremely bad beats on other guys at the table and slammed his cards down on the table and yelled when he hit 2 and 3 outer rivers. In one hand in level 3, I lost a ton of chips to get basically crippled in stud 8. I started with A4|A vs 9 (italian) and 7 (very quiet player). The italian limped, the quiet player completed, I raised, and both called. 4th:me: A4 | A 2 bet IT: xx | 9 4 callQP: xx | 7 J callKeep in mind, the hand should probably have been over right there.5th: me: A4 | A 2 3 bet IT: xx | 9 4 T call (seriously, what the hell)QP: xx | 7 J 6 call6th: me: A4 | A 2 3 8 bet IT: xx | 9 4 T 9 callQP: xx | 7 J 6 Q call 7th:me: A4 | A 2 3 8 | J bet call IT: xx | 9 4 T 9 | x raiseQP: xx | 7 J 6 Q | x callIT slams down 8 8 and kind of snarls at me, QP turns over 2 3 5 for a rivered 765 low. Well played sirs. Well played. I got my chips in on 4th street in a razz hand in level 4 with A267 vs A23J and 3587 (guess who). I catch a 4 right away and A23J catches a 5 and 7 to scoop. Oh well. I saw someone else at the table later and the italian guy busted within 1 level despite having between 8 and 9k in level 3. I headed over to bellagio to meet up with the LHE donks hanging out outside fontana watching the bellagio fountain show, had a couple $9 knob creek and diets and we went in search of food. I bet zach's girlfriend that the buffet would still be open at 11pm and lost. They wandered all the way to mesa at caesars and back to noodles at bellagio before they got some food. I went in search of a good game and wound up in 5-10 at bellagio. I played for about 3 hours which included 2 table changes thanks to the very fluid must move structure of bellagios games. I ended that session up a good amount after getting full value for a pair of kings vs the queens of a european kid who thought I had been getting a little out of line the previous few hands. Day 5:This day was just a marathon cash game session. I was up almost $3k in uncapped PLO at one point but didn't end there thanks to the last 2 hours where I'm relatively sure those of us who had been playing got colluded against. In the wee hours of the morning, a "drunk" british guy stumbles up to the table and drops about 5k in bills down in the 6 seat. He seems to know in passing one other guy at the table who hadn't been playing more than an hour. He begins to raise every pot to 30 - 50, depending on the number of limpers in the pot. He bets pot on the flop and when someone else shows interest, he looks at his cards and decides what to do. Of course this looks awesome to the rest of us. A few minutes later, a friend of his walks up and starts talking to him and watching the table. As soon as the player in the 4 seat gets up (45 minutes later, thanks to a gross beat put on him by the drunk guy), he immediately sits. Again, this doesn't seem that crazy at this point yet.The drunk player continues to raise blind, but now his friend gets to see how the whole table reacts, and then would occasionally pot, only to have the "drunk" guy immediately repot or fold (never call). Over about 3 hours, the drunk guy pulled about $15k off the table with his friend up probably $2k. He pulled down one pot that was easily $8k where two people had broadway and he had top two and rivered a house. Unfortunately, the guy on my right called out of frustration after tanking for 5 minutes. The drunk guy then declared he was tired of us "bitching" about him slowing down the game, and got up with around $20k. Within 10 minutes, his friend was also "feeling tired" and left as well. In the moment I thought he was just being an idiot, but talking to the guys sitting on my end of the table they were relatively certain he was team playing with his friend. They didn't want to say anything because they still felt he was playing exploitably enough to beat. I honestly don't know, but it was a frustrating dip at the end of what had been a very good session. I should have gone and railed troyomac deep in the HORSE event when I was up $2.5k, but I got greedy.I went home and crashed for a few hours before heading to the airport and flying out.Cliff NotesPlayed the stud 8 or better event, embarassed hellmuth, busted men nguyen with 3 tables left, and finished 13th because I decided to be an aggrotard rather than protect my chips.David singer and david sklansky are kinda douchebags. Played a lot of cash games, hung out with a lot of guys from FCP.No hookers, blow, rhino, or anything to make this an actually exciting story.

Good read, I enjoyed it! I'm trying out stud8 recently on Stars and had a fairly decent winning session the other day at 2/4 doubling my bankroll. I decided to see if it was a fluke or not and played 2 SNGs, a $6 and 1 $16 which I placed 1st and 2nd in, respectively. I will study more on it and hope to see you next year :)My FTP sn is kobe4mvp23Thanks!!
