bull62 0
Pretty sure your problem can't be solved with the given hardware. You will need some sort of video capture device for the laptop. The USB ports on the DVR don't output video I believe.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16815306013

rivergirl 2
i would suggest instead of recording it on your dvr, you look for the episode online (just go to google, do a video search or go to the network's site, they probably have full episode there) and download and record it from there. This is probably far easier, since you don't have a dvr recorder
LincolnK 1
What's the model number of the dvr box? Can you get pictures of all the ports on the unit? Does your laptop have a firewire connection and/or any type of video input? The usb ports on the dvr box will likely not be of use here. The tricky part is getting the file off the box. When you manage to extract the file, you'll have to do some processing on your laptop. More details if you get that far.

LincolnK 1
hdd = hard drive. you take the hard drive and hook it up to your pc. In your case, you'll probably need an external hard drive enclosure. Then you run some software (see the yahoo group, or maybe another utility) to decrypt the stored files to usable audio and video streams. you can then run them through your favorite apps to encode it to dvd specs and author your dvd.since you have an s-video input (and I'm assuming an audio-in jack) you can try to do an analog capture. The process is going to be a lot rougher, your system isn't optimized for it, and it's likely going to be average quality at best (no sharp digital quality).
