As much as Sammy is a mixed game player- He is really a big pot game player. He is much better at Pot Limit/ No Limit types of games. I read before that they used to have a different rotation of games when Sammy came to play in the big game because he insisted in playing some NL/ PL games. (and he is enough of a gambler to make it worth it). I could see him skipping this tournament
No excuse whatsoever. How many times have you seen Durrrr playing minbet? This is a who's who of poker. It sounds like $50K isn't much to Sammy so it is def surprising he isn't there.
from another point of view if negreanu would have made that call on durr with ace high then everyone would have called it the greatest call ever. Dwan is a really good player, i would give him an edge over DN at NL Hold Em Cash Game at this stage of their careers. Maybe he had a read on daniel? maybe like 2 other queens were already up cards...and a bunch of other cards daniel had. Who knows...on that note, durrr sucks at horse
What did I miss? Didn't DN win this hand with a pair of Qs? Q in hole and Q showing? Sick call, but a donation on this hand.

Total chips at table: 679,400. Thats not too big a deal in a limit structure but a little unusual and could be an issue when stakes get overwhelming. The average table should be 845,715. Not much of a diff, I thought it would be worse but didnt realize that only 8 players were eliminated. The best part is that among them is Hellmuth and David Williams!

I doubt Ralph was anything but extremely happy to draw that table and if that game went for a year straight he'd end up a huge winner. As tough as the table may have looked, I saw some of the absolute worst poker plays I've ever seen in the stud games. Just completely awful. Both Ivey and I couldn't get anything to go right for us. Durrr destroyed us both, he probably won about 235 pots on the day but gave most of our chips to Hennigan and Perry.Galfond took a much different approach than Durrr. He played a lot more conservatively in all of the games. He made a couple boo boos in stud 8 for sure, but wasn't out there splashing light very often. Durrr played a ton of hands in all of the games. He made one play that made even Ivey squint which he never does. Ivey was visibly frustated as was I.He made a call against me that was pretty special too. He raised from EP with Js and I re-raised from LP with Qd (2d 5d) with NO diamonds out, no queens out, and no 2's or 5's. Pretty live hand. I caught 7d he caught a 5h- I bet he calls.Fifth Street:Durrr (x-x) Js 5h 2cMe (2d 5d)Qd 7d AsI bet he called.Sixth street he catches a 6 and I catch a 3h. I bet he calls. I bet the river in the dark and he called me. I caught a complete blank 10s and he caalled with: (AK) J 5 2 6 9 with no flush draw. I needed an Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, Q, K, or any diamond to win the pot, only a 6, 8, 9, 10, J that was NOT a diamond would lose it for me. Bizarre hand for sure. All in all a brutally frustrating day but the cards wouldn't cooperate for me at all...X-posted from 2+2

I don't understand the need to go out of your way to point out Durr and others mistakes? I understand it can be frustrating that your getting beat by someone who is'nt playing optimally but why post it on a public highly viewed forum? Its going to lead to some of teh bad players getting better faster and/or being embarassed and staying away from mixed game/stud variations where they are probably big dogs which benefits your EV directly.Obviously its DN's updates and he can post anything he wants but I just think its bad for business as well as leading to animosity with other players.

yeah, but Hellmuth was on a stake so he didn't care much. That's about 20 minutes at the craps table for David so that's not surprising.Side story. I was wandering around Vegas at 3AM baked out of my gourd and walked into the old Barbary Coast. I saw David Williams shooting some dice so I said what the hell. He was 1 of 2 people at the table and were slotted in the 3 and 8 seats. So what do I do....stand in about the 3.5 seat a foot away from David Williams. Of course at the time I could barely get my chips down on the felt, but thinking back on it today all I can think is how big of a douche I must have looked like.

LOL@ thinking anyone in a $50k HORSE tournament is going to feel embarssed by a forum post, Durrr's ego wouldn't be bruised if everyone in the entire tournament said he played bad, he's not going to be bothered in the slightest by any comment Negreanu could make.

So you think guys who are close to top players in the world in their discipline are just going to be like "LOL I'm shit but I will keep playing like that and just give my money away lollllllzers because when hellmuth called me out I just shut up and smiled". Obviously hes not that competitive and probably just became good at poker by accident and likes to be called out by his peers for playing a few hands like a complete retard.
