Hey everybody. Who all here has been affected by the flooding in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and Coralville Iowa? My wife and I just bought a house two freakin' weeks ago outside of the 500 year flood plain in Cedar Rapids, IA and had to be evacuated Wednesday night. The flood waters passed our house by about 8 blocks and we lost almost everything and are looking at a major renovaton of our home. Today should be the first day we can get into the house now that the waters have left our neighborhood. Because we were out of the flood plain there was no need to purchase flood insurance so we're completely out unless FEMA pulls through. I registered for assistance today and should know in about 3-7 days what they can help with. Wish me luck, and to anybody else in the same boat, hang in there, I feel your pain.

Thanks guys. FEMA has actually been pretty active and responding right away. I guess they're trying to make up for New Orleans. I should know in a few days how that's going to pan out. My fingers are crossed.

i live in north liberty, a town between cedar rapids and iowa city, and i work in iowa city. getting to work has been pretty rough having to take all these backass routes because roads are closed, and where i work the streets directly to the west of us are closed, we sandbagged the shit out of place. been a very crazy hectic week

Hey Money,Sorry to hear thatI always am the guy that says "Damn, why don't those families get some flood insurance!" But, damn, I don't have it either because I'm out of the flood plain. IMO, this is where Gov't should step in.I'll say a prayer for all of you; but apparently God wanted it to happen, so what good would it do.Sorry, bad time for joke?Seriously, it sucks. Glad you have your health and family.Don't drink the water.
