showstopper24 0
I am very surrpised no one has included scrubs in any of their lists..I thought, with the exception of these last couple seasons, that everyone loved and watched scrubs.I have seen a couple of episodes and I hate it with every molecule in my body. How anybody over the age of 3 can think that it is funny, is beyond me.10. WWE/WCW/TNA depending on the decadeWho is it now?10. PTI (how any sportsfan cannot love is show is beyond me)i never got into seinfeld. I loved friends, but dont' really think of it as a top show of all time. Are there any sports fans that don't like PTI? I've never met one. I'm watching it right now.Seinfeld is pretty good. It used to be my favorite show, and because of this I have seen every episode about 142 times. Because of this, I don't find it that funny anymore, although I'm sure I loved it back in the day. On the other hand, I never liked Friends as much as Seinfeld, though I thought it was great. Now when I watch friends, I find myself laughing a lot more than most other comedies I watch. SBriand 4
You take that back.Never!!!Horrible writing, horrible acting, nothing of value in that show at all, and launched the careers of 3 people who should have never been given a chance. But obviously that is just my opinion. I am sure Saved By the Bell was just on a level I could not comprehend.

Wtf?I can't argue w/ your points, but it still has sentimental value because of the age I was at etc. I'm sure A Team had faults too, but I still love(d) it.

donk4life 34
Something interesting:I heard on the radio the other day that the most favored show from the baby boom generation was the original Star Trek.Anybody include that show in their lists? It was revolutionary for the time.
SBriand 4
Seinfeld is pretty good. It used to be my favorite show, and because of this I have seen every episode about 142 times. Now when I watch friends, I find myself laughing a lot more than most other comedies I watch.I think for me this would be a mark of a great show. I go through phases where I can't get enough of an old show and then I watch too much of it that it loses a little luster but in a year or so later I am addicted to it again. I do this with West Wing, Buffy, Seinfeld, Cheers, and MASH a lot. But some shows like Law and Order, ER or CSI I will watch once but have no desire to ever watch that episode again.Don't forget incredible holes in the plot, like how certain members of the cast move from Indianapolis in the JR high years to SoCal in the HS years. Wtf?I can't argue w/ your points, but it still has sentimental value because of the age I was at etc. I'm sure A Team had faults too, but I still love(d) it.That is what is hard with this topic. Do I choose top ten that I liked over time or top ten shows period. I know there are shows I didn't watch that I can agree are top ten material but for me there are shows like SbthB that would never make a real top ten list but would make mine. I can't deny I didn't watch SbtB.
Jackets1407 0
I don't see why people like Everybody Loves Raymond. I have never lauged while watching it.Because of Kevin James comedy and because of Jerry Stiller2 reasons: Brad Garrett and Peter Boyle.......Peter Boyle is absolutely hilarious and I love how dry Brad Garrett's humor is. Jackets1407 0
Wasn't that the point of sienfield? Just to put people in awkward situations to make people laugh. I very rarely laughed at something on that show, mostly because I think Jerry is about the most boring and drab comedian ever. The little stand up bits at the end always felt tacked on... it just seemed cheesy to me.If you ever saw his stand up routine you would feel differently.
Cappy37 0
Do we include SNL in this list?If it is a TV show, it should be number one hands down, it's the Rolling Stones of TV shows.. Old and overrated?asked and answered.Flame On.You really outta watch some Curb Your Enthusiasm, if only to realize Jason Alexander's run as George on Seinfeld was a decade long impersonation *of* Larry David. Cheapens Seinfeld, in a way. You'll never be able to watch Seinfeld again without thinking about it.I am surprised at the no love for Buffy. Sure it is about a chick who kills vampires (hence why I ignored the show for about 4 years until I started watching it) but it was so much more. It really helped TV by showing writers how to take a story and make it last for a long time without pulling a 24 (make it up as you go along). With all the Firefly love (which I myself voted for as well but did notice that the criteria put forth says 2 seasons or more and it was what...13 episodes?) I would have expected more Buffy love. If you can get past the blonde killing vampires part you will find one of the best written shows on TV.I had it on my list, too, and it was one of the first shows I abused TiVO with. The key to Buffy's success was the likable character, and the overall campy humor. The show never took itself too seriously, which is why I always felt disconnected with Angel: a. ) I never liked Angel much as a character, and b. ) the show took itself too seriously. I always am shocked that Angel and Buffy came from the same writer. Makes no sense to me.Hey, it was my #1. Glad to see that Whedon has continued both Buffy and Angel as comic book series (Buffy Season #8 and Angel #6) - looks like he's going to start a Spike comic book too that follows the series.Hush, Once More with Feeling, The Gift, The Wish, The Prom were some of the best episodes on that show. Also, great finale, nice way to end the series.Yes, Buffy's final season was an A++. Few shows could ever hope to wrap everything up so effeciently, and thoroughly.I'm not sure what my favorite episode was, but my hands down favorite scene was one of the first when Harmony (the airhead cheerleader) became a vampire and her and Xander squared off in the graveyard.. You got the serious fighting music pumping in the background, and they charge at each other... and....the sissiest of all slapfights ever recorded on motion picture commences. Still cracks me up every time I see it. God. I loved this show..
Cappy37 0
And I'll say this in LadyGrey's defense:There was a 3 year stretch where the only thing I'd *watch* on MTV was Daria. Mike Judge's best work, and that's saying something because I'm a huge B&B and King of the Hill fan.And just to throw myself completely under the bus, I've always been a fan of anything Degrassi.. Unintentional Comedy in it's purest form. The Older Show was a great vehicle to instill morals in our youth, and the newer show I've always watched with the Ron Mexico patented "Hands covering my face in shame but still watching on" move. I finally gave up on "The Next Generation" last year, but the amount of life-altering experiences each of those barbie-doll cast members went through in a single episode would cover a typical schools highlights for a decade. Speaking of worthless drama, I'm surprised to see relatively little love for 90210. Beautiful people making mountains out of molehills, but goddamn if I didn't watch every episode.. every week, for the first 6 or so seasons. It couldn't quite match Degrassi for unintentional comedy, but it was about as far fetched and ridiculous as you could get. 90210: the true soap of our generation.
Jackets1407 0
I know that it might not be a top 10 show of all time, but how has nobody mentioned Martin at all? I found that show to be extremely funny and surprised it hasn't been mentioned once in this thread. My list is def all newer shows, but when you're in your mid-20's you really don't have that much of a chance to see a lot of the old classics that really should be included in a top 10 of all time. Cappy37 0
And since I'm rambling at this point, my old school nod has to go to Taxi.Devito, Hirsch, Kaufman, Lloyd, Henner, Danza... Just an unbelievable cast, a great show, and one of the most recognizable theme songs of all time. Seriously, if we were picking by decade, I think Taxi loses only to Mash for the late 70s/early 80s. Seriously, if we were picking by decade, I think Taxi loses only to Mash for the late 70s/early 80s.Wow, excellent call. Totally whiffed on that one. One of the greatest sitcom moments of all time comes from that show. Reverend Jim taking his driving test, trying to cheat. Rev Jim: What does a yellow light mean? The whole group: Slow downRev Jim: What.does.a.yellow.light.mean? I'll piss myself laughing every time on that show. It had it all. Big boobed girl, crude boss, stoned employee. Pushed boundaries and well written. As far as Lucy, she was very good and she show was solid, but keep in mind, there were 3 channels back then, it didn't take much to have a 10 year run on tv. I'd say The Honeymooners was better on an overall comedy level. Especially if you read how much Jackie Gleason drank, how much he ad libbed and how little he rehearsed. brvheart 1,759
a few random comments/nonsensicalsI am not a number. I am a free man!brvheart thought the wire was a sitcom. haha.hey baby I hear the blues a callin' tossed salad and scrambled eggs...Any kid who has stayed home from school (sick or 'sick') for more than one day knows that when you go back to school you're left wondering if the baby is Richard's or Jason's, and you want to know if Silvia will ever come out of that coma. For LG: [singing]Mr F[/singing]While I'm all for people making fun of how stupid I am, I would just like to point out that I was actually being sarcastic and ripping on Governator's post. fyi. David_Nicoson 1
Can someone give me a nutshell summery of firefly. I've never heard of it, much less seen it.It's superficially a light science fiction show. But the claim to fame is excellent writing, in particular good dialog and lovable characters.Imagine you're watching some rerun of Star Trek, and your friend says, "Why don't they just use the replicator?" If you're watching Firefly, one of the characters in the same situation would say, "Hey, why don't we just use the replicator?"In other situations, Firefly startles you by defying genre conventions. It's definitely a show in the space opera genre, but the characters usually don't know it and aren't constrained by it.
