I'm Going To Africa

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I just trying to see if I can check some stuff and it's working a bit now.I'm in Addis with Keturah right now and we are leaving for Tanzania in a few hours...have to catch a ride to the terminal in a second...Anyways, so far the trip been a lot of fun...The money that was given to me + money raised by her church was used to buy a ton of supplies for a lot of people, and some of the money is going toward setting up some sort of support for children orphaned by the violence. It's so different here, much diff. from my experience in Guatemala...everything takes forever to get done...but I really like it and am having fun. We're really excited to go to Tanzania and Zanzibar, although Keturah is sad to leave Nekemte and her friends that she grew so close to. I'd write more but I have to go. See ya guys.- Jordanps -- we're getting married on the 24th or 25th. :club:
Glad to hear you are safe. Was it the scooter that put you over the top on the marriage?

Heh, I lived in Uganda for two years when I was a kid, it's taken me 17 years now to get to the point that I'd even consider going back. Enjoy your trip, I know it'll be memorable in every sense of the word.

while your there try not to get too close to the locals if you know what i mean, some countries are 35% aids.if you go down towards south africa or my birthplace, zimbabwe....stay away from the back townships....your a sitting duck. stay in cape towns white neighbourhood and make sure the fence is secure for the night time wheere they try and get in.DO NOT go out at night. Murder rate is the highest there in anywhere in the world and white peopl are the target. If you need to go to JO'Burg make it a day trip at best. it is very dangerous. do not bring a female friend. They will carjack and rape her on the spot.Zimbabwe are currently flushinf out there white residents as well. Many are turning up murdered. The whites still there are the millionaire businessmen that mugabe doesnt want to let go. You can go there, but keep your wits about you and choose a secure hotel.thats the reality of southern africa. The northen nations are different but have a set of problems all of their own.

Congratulations! Your awesomely ignorant post without knowing anything about Jordan's trip, especially all the advice that you are giving (which I am going to wager that his fiancee knows a bit better than you about the situation down there) has allowed you to join my exclusive Blocked Member Club! You and Ex_Matt will get along just fine in this prestigious organization!

Wow, big loss. For the record i lived in Zimbabwe for 5 years, moved to Cape town and lived there until i was 15, then came to Australia where i have settled. Therefore i have lived 70% of my life in Southern Africa. And this lobster idiot is telling me how it is...... he is the ignorant one.

FWIW, Jordan, if you manage to have sex with the locals sometime between now and your wedding with Keturah, I hope you get aids.

My brother says Zanzibar has the most beatiful beaches he's ever been (and he is quite the traveller). I'm sure you'll have an awesome time.I hear there's quite a bit to do in Dar as well, including a casino that is supposedly pretty soft :D

Glad everything is working out for you Jordan!I think I would love to do a one or two week safari in Africa. One of my history teachers back in high school went on one and brought back hundreds of pictures that she took and made it into a slide show. It was really cool to see how people live in different parts of the world. They visited some tribes and it was very fascinating to see how they lived and functioned in every day life. Other than doing that, I think I'd love to go to Egypt because of all the history there.
