I just got back from a weeklong stay in vegas and played a ton of poker. I played at the wynn a bunch and I have to say, in my opinion, based on what I saw, Daniel made a mistake by signing a contract to only play at the Wynn. The Bellagio's new pokerroom far exceeds the Wynn room. They even made what I was calling the 'Super High Limit Room' at the Bellagio. This room is separate from the regular high limit area. It is a small room called 'Bobby's Room' which I assumed meant Bobby Baldwin. It is a glassed in room with two poker tables and a nice lounge with comfy chairs and a couch and coffee table. I'm not sure but I thought I even saw there being a door to their own bathroom in there. There are pictures of them big game players all over the room.Bellagio has really made an effort to keep those players there and it looks like that is whats going to happen. I saw...Chip ReeseChau GiangEli ElezraJennifer HarmonPhil IveyDavid SklanskySam GrizzleCarlos MortensenDavid Williams...all at the Bellagio. At the Wynn I saw Mike Matasow, Phil Gordon and Mason Malmuth. The high limit area at the Wynn isn't really separated from the rest of the room except its elevated about two steps from the rest of the room. There is absolutely no privacy for these players which I know they value during playing times. The bathrooms for the Wynn poker room are too far away. The Bellagio's b-room is right around the corner. At the Wynn you have to walk out into the casino, wade thru tons of drunk tourists to finally make it to the bathroom. And once you get there, you are greeted by a door that weighs about a million pounds. I saw quite a few drunk guys struggling to get the door open.A cool thing about the Wynn however, for a $100 deposit, you can get a pager that will let you know when your seat becomes available. If the list is long this can Basically, Bellagio was wise to revamp their poker room and they did it in such a way that I don't think the players will be flocking over to the Wynn any time soon.I hope you're not locked up in that contract for too long Daniel because the outlook of getting the big game moved to Wynn is poor.

I don't think Daniel's decision was based on the idea that all of the big players would be moving to the Wynn. He understands that most of them are loyal to the Bellagio. I assume his decision was purely based on his own finances, because this provides him a steady stream of income, as opposed to the less sure high limit play (when he has time) with the big guns.

But the question on everyone's mind has got to be...Which does Oolong like better? Surely then one will be blessed and the other will be cursed.

well, according to the deal as I understand it he will never have the time until the contract is over. Correct me if Im wrong but I thought the contract said the wynn is the only place he will play in Vegas.

With all new businesses, it will take time to extract customers from their loyalties. I'm sure that's why they hired Daniel to be their poker ambassador in the first place. Wynn understands the "Big" players' loyalties to the Bellagio. That's not to say that just because Daniel is playing at the Wynn that everyone will flock over to the Wynn. Other than trying to beat players' Head's Up, Wynn and Daniel are capitalizing on the exposure that his Head's Up challenge is going to have on the overall reputation of its poker room. All of this make great business sense. As for all the new amenities at the Bellagio, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before Steve Wynn changes his "High Stakes" poker room to be more competitive.

That is correct from my understanding. I think we are making the same point, that Daniel cannot play in the big game until his contract is over with the Wynn. I was just saying that he knew this before signing the deal, so the original post doesn't make much sense. Maybe the Bellagio is still better, but that doesn't mean Daniel made a bad decision.

There is certainly room in Vegas for another nice room with mid/high limits. Beyond Bellagio and Mirage...really wasn't much else until Wynn. If they are smart, they will spread all the limits that the Bellagio does not spread...ie 10/20, 20/40, 40/80, etc. As for the HIGH limit games...It will be interesting to see what they can get going there. Obviously Daniel doesn't spend a ton of time in the cash game, but limiting himself to the Wynn may in fact limit his access to the game.

this is simply not true. daniel has said numerous times on here that he 'hopes' the big game players will move over to the wynn. that is why i said what i said in the first place.

I thought he said that he was hoping they would get big games going, but he never specifically expected "the" game to move there.

First of all...Why does all this new stuff open like 2 weeks after I leave? WTF!!!Bellagio room wasn't open and Wynn wasn't open... blah!Secondly...About Daniel's hopes of the big game players moving... that's what it is, hopes. There was no guarantee of it happening, and when I asked him whether they would go play at the wynn, he said "I hope so". So we will see what happens. There ya go.

I am pretty sure you can't spell prEtty...sorry i had to. But as for the topic at hand...that would totally suck if he was limited in his play in the big game. I have never been to the Wynn nor Bellagio, so i have no idea which one is better.

yeah, i was just saying, based on what i saw, if i was one of those players, i wouldn't set foot in the wynn because all my needs are catered too at the bellagio.and unless they find some more room or something, there is no place they can make such a nice setup for the big game players as they have at bellagio.basically i'm saying i don't think we'll be seeing any big game result posts by daniel for quite some time.the heads up matches should be quite interesting though. hopefully they find a way that the public can watch in some way or another.but like i said, if i was a super high limit player, bellagio is still the spot and i don't see that changing anytime soon.

lol, but not before I read it. P.s. I can't believe I wasted 2 posts on a poker forum on a spelling error (I'm the worse speller ever). I apologize to all who were force to read them.

maybe they could set up a streaming system like Live at the bike but instead have it be DN vs 'x' for 100k. Have it be linked here and on the wynn site. That would be very fun to watch.
