wow i thought that hand was a joke? DN calling a raise with JJ on that flop? Weird stuff
didn't call a raise on the flop, called a reraise preflop... that goes to all of the others who said that in this thread as well... not saying he lost the minimum by any means because i do think his bet on the river is pretty terrible, but at least get the facts straight if you are going to critique... fwiw i hate the value bet on the river because no hands in his range are going to call you that you beat... if you really believe he has AK check/calling giving him the chance to bluff would be much more profitable in this spot as i find it hard to believe he's going to look you up that light on the end.... that said, you have played many hands with bill i'm sure, but from a naked eye, that's my take on it

A question to Daniel regarding the hand in today's tournament.I would like to start by quoting from Daniel's new PokerVT site which I subscribe to.From the Course on "Small Ball", which I think is very good:(section) SMALL BALL PHILOSOPHY:Steadily increase your stack without taking significant risks.(section) LOSING THE MINIMUM:Lesson Key... The ability to get away from situations where it looks like you are in danger.Don't play the guessing game in marginal situations for large percentages of your stack. Here is probably the best advice I could ever give you when it comes to NL Hold-Em Tournament Poker: People don't bluff nearly as much as you think they do.No more quotes. My question is this:How do you justify your play in that hand with the philosophy of small ball? Thanks.

i mean edler is a very solid player.. there's absolutely 0 chance dn's ahead preflop after that action. i think the river bet is also pretty terrible fwiw.

That bust out hand sounds exactly like the kind of play that busts me out of tournies way more often than it should. It's probably my biggest leak, overplaying JJ.I'm not going to try and second guess a player who is FAR better than me, and we have no info on the previous play at the table, or (in my case) on Bill Chen himself. It's just nice to see that it's not just me that spews his guts with JJ.

FULL explanation coming in the blog. The hand confused me for several key reasons.
Since you're reading this thread, some dude offered to bet you 9k that you wouldn't finish in the top 30 in any WSOP event (excluding HORSE) and would put the money in your Stars account in advance.http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...howtopic=123553I'm curious about what your think about this bet. I couldn't get him to agree to bet it with me.

Wow...Some people just don't have faith in Daniel's skills anymore. Take his money, Daniel.Edit - nevermind, it looks like he's a scammer or a troll. Only 25 posts. Don't bet with him.

16 minutes ago..........GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JC!!!
Raymer Railed
After a raise of 1,000 from Noah Boeken on the button, Raymer goes all in for 5,200 and is called by JC Alvarado on the big blind. Boeken folds. Raymer shows J-9 and Alvarado turns over 9-9. The flop of 8-10-2 gives Raymer hope, but the turn and river brick out to send him home. Alvarado is up to 37,500.

Well, I don't think it's ever happened since I have been at the WSOP in 1998, but I guess there is a first time for anything! lol, ya I'd bet that dude. My record is 10-0 the past 10 years and there are more events these days.
