I have been a fan of Favre and the Packers since the third grade. I grew up thinking Favre could do no wrong. As a mature 17-year-old, I cried the day he retired from the Packers. I was tolerant of the Jets experiment -- even have the jersey to prove it. But what am I supposed to do now? Tonight I watched my childhood hero stomp all over the team and the fans he represented for 16 years. I found myself cursing him for the very same reasons I used to love him. The phony TD celebrations, the smug smiles, the way he hams it up with his new teammates and his new fans. I don't know how to handle it. I started this e-mail thinking I had something to say about all of this, but I just feel lost. I don't know what to think anymore ... I was in that panic mode in 2007, when favre had that Renaissance year with the packers.. but he came through in the end and choked away the playoffs. Obviously having Favre win a superbowl with the vikings would suck, because he'd go into the super pantheon, but at least this way I can know the packer's fans anger and pain will be infinitely more than mine. I would put Favre at about reason #5 or 6 why the Vikings are 4-0. But he has played well. Will he kill them late in the year? I think Minnesota needs home field advantage to keep Favre indoors in the playoffs. The thought of Favre playing in January in the Meadowlands against the Giants pass rush.....could be brutal. I'm also very impressed that a QB has been able to start every game for 20 years.But I hate infidelity almost more than anything else, and I probably don't like him anymore.
