r0llin_game 2
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont...-?urn=nba,81456Random unsubstantiated rumor: LeBron James is a cheap tipperBy J.E. SkeetsWarning! Warning! Ridiculous athlete gossip below! Please proceed with caution! According to Fortune Magazine, LeBron James makes about $170 million in sponsorship deals. He has a $90 million contract with Nike, $15 million with Coke, $6 million with Upper Deck, $4.5 million with Bubblicious, $7.5 million with Cub Cadet, and some sick sharing revenue deal with MSN. And oh, yeah, he also makes $13 million a year from bouncing an orange ball.So it's a little surprising to hear that The Chosen One may not be the world's most generous tipper. In fact, if you believe the Cleveland Scene's "sources," LeBron James is basically Scrooge McDuck in a headband. The story:LeBron pulls up in his Mercedes outside XO. People stop and try not to stare, but c'mon, it's LeBron James. He enters the restaurant with a group of friends. On this special occasion, the King decides to dine late. He keeps his group there until around 3:45 a.m. During this time the waiter obsequiously pours drinks and fetches anything else His Greatness needs. The final bill comes to $800. By the feudal laws of decorum, which stipulate that the affluent should administer a 20 percent gratuity, staffers figured they'd be pocketing an extra $160. But when they fetched the autographed bill after His Heinousness bolted back to Akron, their expectation turned to disbelief, then anger.LeBron stiffed them with a meager $10 tip.Ouch. Just 1.25 percent. No tippin' Scottie Pippen thinks this is way too much.Discuss.
AmScray 355
Knowing how people tend to react around professional athletes or the otherwise famous, I would wager there is > .0001% chance that the service sucked.
NonZeroPossibility 0
If you know anyone who delivers pizza or is a waiter, ask them how well blacks generally tip. There's nothing LeBron can do about being black.
freak2304 0
As someone who's worked in the field of serving/bartending for almost 6 years now, if this is true he can go fuck himself. I've had this happen to me on numerous occasions by people who WEREN'T millionaires and it still pissed me off beyond belief. If you have a problem with your service, talk to a manager about it. Obv. none of us were there so we don't know how the service was, but as someone who has waited on a few quasi-celebs, I usually bust my ass even more for them as I am expecting a little more for the effort. That's my take on it.....FWIW, all the quasi-celebs that I have waited on (in Lawrence freakin' Kansas) have tipped 20% or more.

There's nothing LeBron can do about being black. Black has little to do with it. It has everything to do with how you are raised. Most of the NBA was raised broke as ****. LadyGrey 6
FWIW, all the quasi-celebs that I have waited on (in Lawrence freakin' Kansas) have tipped 20% or more.Who are these quasi-celebs? Don't say members of the college basketball team or something. p.s. where do you work?EDIT: Nevermind, I looked on your myspace. I ate in Applebees in Lawrence, maybe you saw me. Last time I got the veg. patch pizza and it was really bad so we sent it back. The girl was very nice about it. I liked that pizza the first time I was there though, so don't be offended. Don't say members of the college basketball team or something. p.s. where do you work?Well, mostly professional athletes (alot of former KU players who are now in the NBA, KC Chiefs such as Tony Gonzalez, Priest Holmes, etc.) but also Tech N9ne (a KC rapper who's had a little bit of national success) and some dude who apparently is a soap opera star that I had no clue who he was (all the girls at the resaurant were swooning over him but I had no clue who he was)I worked at a Applebee's and also a locally owned restaurant and bar here in town awhile back and now bartend on occasions for extra money.Edit: LOL, yeah I haven't updated my myspace in awhile. Thankfully, I don't work at Crapplebee's anymore!

Most of the NBA was raised broke as ****.Broke as $#!t leads to better tipping, actually. Especially when you factor in "Broke" people tend to work *in* the service industry at one point or another. My stints as a waiter has made me a strong tipper at restaraunts, and very forgiving of "poor service" on busy nights.. I know what it's like to have 8 tables and a bus boy from planet Jupiter. The problem is: Lebron probably footed the $800, and his 29 random friends along for the ride ponied up the $10 in tip. The thing is this- I have not made one serious post in this thread yet. The generalities in here are a tad sad. There are bad tippers, and good tippers, of all colors. Many types of people work in the service industry and do very well, you don't have to be broke to do it. You can make a very good living doing it- I did, for about 10 years, with little to no stress. Easily the most fun I ever had. Not many jobs where you can just walk around with your dong hanging out underneath your apron.
vonteego3 0
I call BS.I know I don't go to restaurants that the rich go to, but I've never been in a restaurant that doesn't automatically add a tip for groups. And really, his bill came to $800 and he left $810? Did he have a roll of $100's with a $10 in the middle? But hey, whatever it takes for you guys to have an opportunity to throw out your online only racism. I know, I know... you act the same way in real life, because you're tough. I get it.

r0llin_game 2
when we had our 2/5 game going, we had like one of johnny rockets (hamburger chain) district managers or something to that liking that played in our game. well lebron ate there (im guesiing w/ some friends) at the location right off of A1A by the beach. this guys tells him it's taken care of, just ask for a autographed jersey to his kid and he said no i don't do that. to me it just seems like he's an arrogant, cheap prick who thinks he's ****ing god. You think the man is made of jerseys??? Seriously, he went and got a $20 lunch and the manager was "nice???lol" enough to offer it for free in exchange for lebron taking down his info and going home and finding a jersey somewhere, signing it, and sending it back. Yeah, I'm sure he has tons of time to do stuff like that. Just because he's a celebrity doesn't mean he owes anybody anything. And regarding the $800 bill, the restaurant is completely retarded for not including 20% on a bill like that, and if he did only tip $10 it's probably because he assumed the tip was included in such a large bill, as it would be anywhere else. And again, I doubt the main thing on his mind is 'oooh better look at the fine print on this bill.'
