When You Sit Down At A Live Table...

Recommended Posts

EGO check. How often do you feel that you're the best player at the table after lets say, an hour of play? This is more likely regarding cash games since you tend to sit with the same players for longer periods of time. What if you sit down at a cash game with Chris Moneymaker? Phil Hellmuth? Insert player here etc.? Would you still feel that you're the best player? Tournaments apply as well since the 08 WSOP will start soon and some FCP members might find themselves sitting with some pros if they enter some events. Which poker pro do you fear the most and on the other hand who do you feel you could beat?Personally for me I'll sometimes play a NL tournament at the Morongo Casino (in SoCal) and 90% of the players there are so bad I always feel confident that I'm the best player at the tables. Cash game too for the most part. Also, I wouldn't mind sitting at a table against lets say Chris Moneymaker. I have a feeling I'm not the only who feels this way.

you will get posts saying how bad moneymaker is probably, even though I think he is decent to say the least.as for me, I often think I am the best player... as long as I am winning that is.

I always sit down thinking I am the best player. Whether it's true or not, confidence in yourself is very important, imo, as long as you're not over-confident.

wait... are you implying that you are better than chris moneymaker? I don't know if I am reading it right or not...
No I don't feel I'm better than Moneymaker, but I wouldn't mind sitting down at a table with him, as opposed to lets say Phil Ivey. I'll use a better example and say Jennifer Tilly.

No WSOP bracelets just an ego and admitting I think I could outplay her. I don't want to see these 'bracelet' responses because we all know damn well that we think we're better than SOME so called 'pros' and possibly more deserving of a bracelet given the opportunity. I've never played in a WSOP even I wish I had the money and/or chance. Be honest peoples.

It's not hard to be the best player at the table at Morongo. Its been a while since I havent been the best player at the table when I'm playing live.

I'm a limit donk. I usually am quite confident that I am NOT the best player at the table. I can still do just fine as long as there are a few players that I know are worse than me. I just avoid the better players unless I really have a hand.

don't assume you're the best player.assume you'll find spots to make money/accumulate chips.then evaluate each player.don't tip the dealers since rake is absurd?

I'm usually confident when I sit down at any table where I don't know any players. I usually think I am one of the best players at the table. Even if I am not the best, I feel confident there are enough bad players to make it profitable for me to sit.

I usually like to think that I am the best at the table for the first few hours. Then I might get a bit laggy and spew some chips after which I tighten up and usually leave a little while after that. However if there are some regulars at the table that I know can make some moves, I tend to play uber tight against them.

Every time I sit down for a session... But then I play on a boat basically in Gary, Indiana - so the competition is about as bad as it gets

if you are from miami, let alone florida and you are decent, chances are you are probally the best player at your table
but what if you had driven all that way and Florida was closed?

Don't you play like 3/6 LHE?
Yeah, online...in that area anyway. Had a 5k month online in March moving from up from 2/4 through 5/10, even a little 10/20. Due to a family emergency I had to cash out a big chunk of my online roll and then of course I immediately start running bad. So I'm pretty much rebuilding right now.Not that its much difference but live I play 4/8 or 8/16, usually at Pechanga...so yes, I can honestly and safely say I always feel like the best player at the table when I'm playing live.

I've been up there a handful of times in the past few months playing the 500 and the uncapped 5/10, are you a regular there?

Semi regular I guess. Sometimes I'll go 2 or 3 times in a week, and sometimes I'll go a month without going. Its 30 minutes from my house so when I play live its usually there. My desire to play live varies from time to time. Usually I go a lot until I have a bad night and tell myself that its stupid to play live when I can make more money from the comfort of home. Then after a little time passes I get the itch to go back. For you, how does that room compare to other rooms in socal?
