Hey guys, some of you may know me, some of you may not. Let me give you a quick look into my experience with Asia's Hope.I went to Cambodia March 2007 with my cousin Jeff, my friend John, and a woman named Allison. My friend John had helped co-found Asia's Hope back in 2001, and with the help of my cousins church, founded the first orphanage there in a morning church service. Somehow they raised $10,000 that day. It's just a neighborhood church just outside the Ohio State Campus. And so began Asia's Hope, which now has 8 orphanages throughout Cambodia and Thailand.Ever since I went on this trip I've thought of how I could help raise funds for Asia's Hope...for the people in South East Asia, and I've always thought I could somehow use the community I'm most apart of, you guys. So, if you read below and want to give...please do. Also feel free to ask me any questions, make any comments, about anything related to Asia's Hope.Asia’s HopeAsia’s Hope is truly a grassroots organization that started in 2001 with one orphanage in Cambodia and has expanded to eight orphanages throughout Cambodia and Thailand. Asia’s Hope has set high goals of opening another eight orphanages in the next two years. Asia’s Hope has rescued nearly 300 children total from the streets, poverty, & from the child sex trade. In two more years, there could potentially be another 300 children that are saved. How can we make this a reality? It costs around $15,000 to start a new orphanage and $2,500 to keep it operating each month. These children are provided with an education, shelter, food, medicine, and love. Besides all these things we can provide them with bicycles, playground equipment, and vehicles to transport the kids to and from school and activities. We can provide immunizations and school supplies. There’s almost no limit to what we can do if we all work together.Needs:• Rice – Inflation has caused the price of rice to rise drastically. The price for high nutrient rice has doubled in recent years. Rice costs $2/kg.• Playground equipment – Five orphanages need playground equipment. $2,000 will provide the children with one.• Bicycles – 75 bicycles are needed which cost about $60/bike -- two kids can ride together and will provide years of use.• Mini-Bus/van – The cost of a bus/van is about $17,000 but in the long run this kind of purchase would save a lot of money. Most of the orphanages rely on taxis to transport kids to and from school or other activities, which adds up to a very high cost and also time consuming• Orphanages – Eight new orphanages in two years means $120,000 and another $2,500 a month to keep them running. We can help start funding new orphanages today.• One child – One child in Asia’s Hope is fully supported and lives off less $1,000 a year. • Immunizations – • Staff -- $200/month for the people that are living and supporting the children in Cambodia or Thailand. Lives:• In 2005, UNICEF estimated that 130,000 people are living with HIV in Cambodia.• There are an estimated 570,000 orphans in Cambodia, and with a rising AIDS death toll, it is projected that by 2010 HIV/AIDS will account for about one in four orphans (Guy Degen UNICEF, UNICEF EAPRO).• By 2010, one in three orphans in Thailand will have lost their parents to AIDS (UNICEF EAPRO).• It is estimated that 1.5 million children in Asia and the Pacific have lost one or both parents to AIDS (UNICEF EAPRO). • An estimated 1.8 million children were ensnared in the commercial sex trade in 2000. In South East Asia alone, 1 million children are thought to be involved. This does not include the informal side of the spectrum in which children enter this industry under coercion. Break Down:For $10,000 raised we could buy/support:- 3 Playgrounds- support 2 kids for a year- Buy 20 bicycles- Provide 400kg's of riceFor $20,000 raised we could buy/support:-5 playgrounds-support 4 kids for a year-buy 50 bicycles-provide 1000kgs of rice-support 5 volunteers for a month--There is obviously a lot of other scenarios we could break the money we raise down. Lots of different options, lots we could all do if we just give a little.I've been talking with FCP Bob and he is working with Poker Stars at trying to set up a private charity tournament we could all play in. If you don't want to play a charity tournament, but want to give, you can write a check to Asia's Hope. Maybe one of you would rather sponsor a kid and give monthly. All donations can be written off on your taxes, so think about giving something away instead of just giving it to the government later on. :)The tournament details are still not completely finished, but I will be looking to stake 5-10 people as long as they agree to donate half of whatever they cash for. We also thought a few last longer bets could add some fun/gamble to the event if the price and payout of the tournament is low, or you're just a degen (like me) and wanna gamble it up. Whoever won the last longer would just keep half the bet for himself and ship the rest to Asia's Hope (or me) and I'd forward it on.As the details about the tournament come in, I'll provide more specifics about where and when to write the check to Asia's Hope. I'd like to plan on send them something in bulk, relatively at the same time, but we'll see. Thanks for the time in taking to read this, and thanks so much if you decide to give. It's really going to save lives, and you'll see the difference you have made (I'm going there again eventually and John and I will document what we raised and how it is being used).I'll leave you guys with a few pictures from Cambodia.Kids at the orphanage in Phnom Penh. I just spent an hour or so looking at the website. Count me in on the tournament (as long as I'm not at work), and I pledge any and all winnings to Asia's Hope.

Donations:A few options...1 - send a check to Asia's Hope. If you chose to do this, you can write whatever you donate off as a tax exemption...I kinda wanna keep a tally of how much we raise, so if you decide to do this, and feel comfortable, please PM me how much you give. If you'd rather not do that, then it's fine too. Either way, if you do send a check there, write something in the memo like, "FCP donation"2 - play in the charity tournament that we're working on. this may not take place for a while, but it will eventually. I don't think the buy-in will be very expensive, so if you wanted you could chose to stake a few people (probably what I'll do) and then make sure that they donate 50% of whatever they win. Some last longer pools could be good as well, with the winner of the bet shipping 50% or whatever to Asia's Hope.3 - send money to me (more details such as my stars name later once more details get figured out) and I will then write a check to Asia's Hope. This probably is a better option for those that don't have a checking account, yada yada.- Jordan

Shipping check, will also play in the tournament. I'm involved with an orphanage down in TJ and support a kid there and think these are some of the best causes to get involved in and a good use for the money we earn from poker. Great idea.
