My favorite acronym of all time is GOBlolbut you should realize that the only time I use such abbreviations/acronyms is in a humorous or possibly mocking way. the recent string of "lol's" you may be speaking of was in the most recent economy thread and they were used solely as a literary device to convey the tone of the speaker. other uses of such things as "plz" and "kthnx" are more to convey my tone in the message as short, to the point, as well as ironic (both in tone and meaning).so my point is that I still do not use such abbreviations in actual conversation on the web, only as a means to convey the tone and personality of the "character" in which I would be speaking at the time.I do say "OMG LOL!" in real life though. Apparently this was a way to express the sentiment "BULLSHIT! I CALL BULLSHIT!" a while back in some circles. (As a further aside, I'm amazed that the retarded things I find awesome -- like intentionally and seemingly-unironically using outmoded slang -- are found awesome by other, less-retarded, ostensibly serious people.
