brvheart 1,757
Anchorman 2: not as good as the original by a lot. Of course comedies can grow on you, so it might get better with a rewatch. 2 1/2 stars out of 5. American Hustle: it was ok. I was expecting it to be as good as Blow or American Gangster, but it wasn't. Jennifer Lawrence and Christian Bale were both very good, but the story was weak. Even the wiki article on the actual events is boring. It's just a weak story.
SuitedAces21 2,723
I was expecting it to be as good as Blow or American Gangster, but it wasn't. why were you thinking about those movies as a reference?
BigDMcGee 3,355
and why would you want to see either of those two movies again? This is the first bad review I've heard about this movie, there just be a great deal of adultery in it or something.
SuitedAces21 2,723
i just feel like brvy was expecting some kind of gangster drug movie when that is not this movie at all.
Dubey 1,035
I saw American Hustle last night too. I thought it was incredible. Though,I could tell the theatre wasn't that into it. (one old man actually fell asleep about 45 minutes in and was snoring loudly for about 10 minutes) I loved every minute of it. Jennifer Lawrence is the best. Christian Bale was amazing. Louis C.K. has a somewhat major role in it, which I had no idea about, and he was pretty awesome. Jeremy Renner was excellent. The music was amazing and very Scorseseesque. I actually want to go see it again in theatres. It might overtake Captain Phillips as my #1 movie of the year.
SuitedAces21 2,723
yeah i'm expecting it to be great.

Louis CK is great, but he definitely doesn't have a "major" role. Maybe 4 minutes of total screen time.

I was expecting a heist/gangster movie, and the story was disappointing until the last 30 minutes. The scene at the end with Bale at Renners house was probably my favorite scene. SuitedAces21 2,723
so your opinion of the movie is clouded by what you expected and therefore inadmissible. i move to strike.

I don't even feel like I gave it a negative review. It just wasn't as good as I expected it to be.
brvheart 1,757
What's going to happen now is that you'll love the movie because I've tempered your expectations. You're welcome.
BigDMcGee 3,355
Actually, there is a great deal of adultery. Nailed it
SuitedAces21 2,723
considering the adultery is evident in the trailer, i'm not ready to have you read my palm just yet.

I haven't really watched the trailers, but the reason I "nailed it" is brv typically hates anyone who cheats on their spouse and any movie/tv show that glorifies it.

brvheart 1,757
Saving Mr. Banks. I loved it. A lot.
BigDMcGee 3,355
American Hustle. Loved the acting, the plot was a bit thin, particularly at the end. But the dialog and the acting were stellar
BigDMcGee 3,355
I think Amy Adams might be the best actress or actor in hollywood right now. Every role I see her in, is radically different, and she's always great.

brvheart 1,757
BigD and I are twin brothers separated at birth, when it comes to movies. I absolutely agree with his take on American Hustle and most everything else movie-related.
brvheart 1,757
Colin Ferrell was so good in Saving Mr. Banks. If it wasn't for Emma Thompson he would have clearly stolen the movie. I didn't even know he was in the movie until he showed up on screen.
BigDMcGee 3,355
quit knee jerkin before you bust a hip, old man. After The Fighter, The Master and American Hustle, I'm ready to jerk. I don't know if it will involve my knee, tho.
