BigDMcGee 3,353
I saw savages, the new oliver stone movie. I'm going to put my thoughts in spoilers, but here's what you should know. Please don't see this movie.Hmmmm... I don't know how to put spoilers on in the new interface. How do I put spoilers now?Edit: figured it out. Feel free to read this, this movie sucks and you shouldn't see it. If any given sunday is where Stone jumped the shark, this movie is where he hauled the shark onto the beach and ****ed it. Okay, so the first 15 minutes of this movie sucked donkey ****. it has the worst voice over narration in movie history, and that's saying a lot. The main actress, while painfully hot, is a god damn terrible actress. at one point, she said, in narration " I have orgasms, he has wargasms" And I swear to god I almost walked out. I was at the end of my rope. Then a god damn miracle happened. the movie got better. it was visually stunning, and it was a good enough suspense movie. Some dumb things, granted. I hated the main actress, whom we were supposed to sympathize with, since she was, you know, kidnapped. we were supposed to care about her. I thought her character was so vapid and useless of a human being that I was actively rooting for her to die, and I liked the Villains WAY more than the heros in this movie. So, the movie, after a brutal start, slowly won me back. And then, they have the worst ending of all time, with the triple suicide that made no sense. I was aghast. I literally shouted " what the ****?!?! " in the theatre, and people were laughing at how ridiculous it was.... but that wasn't it. Oh no. It wasn't bad enough for this shit sandwich to have one bad ending. No, that was just a mind ****.. here's the REAL ending now.... and I was SO angry. I was like " okay, you've really pissed me off with that terrible, terrible fake ending. This new ending better be awesome. And of course, it was horrible and half assed. And it finished on the beach with some brown people, and teh entitled **** saying she was a savage because she'd become like them. I am still furious at this movie. All the good movies coming out in the next few months, and I wasted my money on this crap fest. ****!

BigDMcGee 3,353
how bad was the ending though. I'm kinda glad you saw it, I need someone to bitch about how bad this movie was to.
Essay21 2,385
i mean it was pretty freaking terrible. that whole, rewind the movie for a do-over thing is never a good idea. seriously if they had all died there and thats how it ended it would have been much better. still terrible, but better. DJ Vu 176
The first ending is the book ending. The second ending is how Oliver Stone thought it should end. I guess leaving them both in is his idea of compromise. I probably would've watched this on DVD, but now I won't. I have a blu-ray player, but I still say DVD. Like "on DVD" means "at home" or something. Wonder if that will change eventually.
iZuma 764
is a blueray not still technically a dvd? doesn't it stand for digital video disc, and isn't that still pretty much what a blueray is?also, when was the last time oliver stone made a good movie anyways?
DJ Vu 176
DVD isn't an acronym for anything. For fuck's sake man, don't you know anything?

SuperJon 175
I actually just watched The Matrix recently, and agree 100%It's amazing to me that even after all these years the special effects still look pretty damn good, which can't be said about most of the movies made around the same time. It also reminds me how great Jurassic Park is to this today. Almost 20 years later, and I still haven't seen a better looking dinosaur movie.

The first was the "Stone ending" the second was the "book ending" and they both were lousy. First three links from googling "savages movie ending"That second “happy” ending really hurts the picture, which should have ended right where Winslow’s book did. What Stone – working with Winslow and screenwriter Shane Salerno – actually does is inexcusable. He gives us Winslow’s ending, almost to the letter, and then, just as the finale’s tragic ramifications are taking hold, he has a character say (and I’m paraphrasing here), “Whoops! That didn’t happen. That’s just what I imagined might happen,” before literally rewinding the plot so he can drop the real ending, which delivers a cop-out punch.Since Chon and O would rather die than live life as a regular, non-polyamorous couple, they commit suicide on the spot. Or do they? O's narrative voice soon tells us that this is the romanticized way things played out in her head, then the film doubles back and presents an ending where pretty much everyone ends up living relatively happily ever after. Some bad guys go to jail, other bad guys take over, and our three heroes end up living the expat dream on some remote island paradise.Does Stone's new ending show us that true love conquers all, even when that true love is a crazy love triangle that goes toe-to-toe with one of the deadliest forces on Earth? Sure!

BigDMcGee 3,353
Oh, I didn't know you meant the literal book ending, I thought you were talking about, like.. the "hollywood" ending. I'm shocked stone would make such a lame hollywood ending. But, both endings suck ****, so there's that.
DJ Vu 176
I win!In that first link, they talk about the ending to Natural Born Killers. Apparently there is an alternate ending on the DVD that was cut that was a much darker ending.
