I think there needs to be a small white truck parked next to the scene of the accident, watching but not participating.

How was the crowd for The Lovely Bones?

That's how I felt when I saw Gangs of New York, followed closely by City of God. DDL is fantastic in Gangs, but the movie didn't do much for me. City Of God though, that's the real thing.     I don

I saw MI 4 also, and I enjoyed it fine. If I had to rank them:MI 2MI 3MI 4MI 1I enjoyed all of them though. Also, MI 2 is the most ridiculous and over-the-top, but for some reason I really liked it.I hated MI 1 at the time, because I thought it was supposed to be "real", not over-the-top, and I hated the chunnel scene where Cruise gets blown from a helicopter to the train and doesn't die... but now I can appreciate it. (It's still way last, though)

Just go with itThis is the Adam Sandler movie where he has Jennifer Anniston act like she is his wife even though she isn't.I usually hate most current Adam Sandler movies, but I found this one suprisingly enjoyable. I think he churns out one ok movie out of every 5.

You know, I do see your point about the chunnel scene, but I still think MI 2 is by far the worst of the bunch. You can say that almost the entire movie is over-the-top, which makes it work in some ways, but I think it just doesn't fit with the MI series at all. That kind of non-stop ridiculousness only belongs in a movie that's openly mocking the action genre.

Planet of the Apes. What the H?

The apes just go into the woods and that's it?

Gay.

I haven't seen the movie, but what would you prefer? Some ridiculous storyline in which they physically decimate the human race? I feel like the story told is the best way of making it realistic that apes could eventually take over.

I liked the movie.

The cure they created that made apes super intelligent was deadly to humans. That's why the ape handler died. He passed the disease onto the neighbor who was a pilot. The pilot got the ball rolling in spreading it around the world. The pilot part was in the end credits, I think.

Also, First, the woods, then...THE WORLD.PortalBrain.jpg

I assumed you made the unusual decision to rank the movies in ascending order, since that's how they are listed, but apparently not. Odd.

Another EarthOn the night of the discovery of a duplicate planet in the solar system, an ambitious young student and an accomplished composer cross paths in a tragic accident. Written and Starred by twenty-something Brit Marling...Definitely worth watching if you like outside-the-box-ish movies.

TintinI grew up with Tintin, so I enjoyed this movie. The detailing was terrific, right down to the use of the font from the original books. The motion capture was top notch, giving a wide range of emotion to facial expressions. The voice work was excellent and the overall plot, which successfully culled elements from several of the books, was a little simplistic, but this is written for children, so who cares.7.5/10MI:GPSaw this on an Imax screen and it was worth it, if only for the cityscape camera shots and the Burj tower sequence. I found the plot to be tighter than the previous two and the action sequences were wll executed. Like him or not, tom Cruise is a high quality screen presence and is the focus of the series (duh). Nice work by Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton. High production values and some cool tech elevates this to a high level. Score by Michael Giacchino (LOST) wasvery well done and matched the mood and setting seamlessly.8/10

Rise of the Planet of the ApesI really enjoyed this movie and I think it's safe to say Andy Serkis (guy who played gollum) has really found his niche with regards to motion capture CGI acting. He must do a lot of research before his roles as everything from his movements & facial expressions are captured so well. The ending left so much to be desired though as it ended up being more like "Rise of the San Francisco Chimps" instead of planet of the apes, but I'm looking forward to this reboot to continue with a sequel.

I hope not, it'll just be another in the long line of "man-made disease kills off society" flicks.

Planet of the Apes takes place in the year 3978. It was a long process to go from current day to then.By the end of the movie, the pieces are in place: the apes have become super intelligent and it's something that passes on from generation to generation; the humans are getting wiped out by a deadly disease. I don't really get the criticism of the ending. Were people really expecting a planet takeover to happen quickly?

Agreed. But I think we went through this last week. I guess every time someone doesn't like the ending we'll have to agree all over again. I'm ok with that.

The movie was only about an hour and a half long and it was just over too quick for me. Maybe I'm just getting to use to longer movies lately but it seemed like

there was plenty of time to see more widespread takeover outside of the forest. The movie really had only a 20min scene of the escape and then getting over the bridge.

I'm not sure I understand what you're looking for. More of the escape, or an addition of a "takeover" scene?

The Greatest Movie Ever SoldIt was mildly entertaining, I even laughed out loud a few times. I think I was hoping for more vitriol and less friendly banter. The few minutes of him interviewing famous directors were great and definitely should have been expanded.

Look, if I'm watching a movie about ****ing apes "rising" I want more monkeys jumping on helicopters followed by mass destruction. I don't need them just running off into the forest like some wooded-Taliban.
You might like the sequel."There's so much we could do... The ideas I've had are all sorts of things, ranging from Full Metal Jacket with apes...," Wyatt told Bleeding Cool of his plans for the sequel.

Perhaps. While I was reading that I was thinking how satisfying it would be to make a movie. To have only this image in your mind of what you want, and to turn into this major production must be pretty amazing.

Except when you get a whole bunch of other people involved (writers, directors, producers, actors...) who have their own visions and you have to start compromising what you want. Then it's probably more frustrating than satisfying.
