The new X Men movie. I liked it, this series and Ironman makes me want to read some of the source material, but there's just way way too much. I know they changed quite a bit from the books to the movies, but that doesn't bother me. In the X Men universe, the Watchmen, and Fables the storytelling I respond to is how the super powered beings interact with one another. I don't really care about the big action sequence featuring X Men taking on humans. There were a couple of big continuity/logic problems, and I didn't agree with the short time frame within the movie (one big sequence happens in 24 hours, another montage within one week).

I think there needs to be a small white truck parked next to the scene of the accident, watching but not participating.

How was the crowd for The Lovely Bones?

That's how I felt when I saw Gangs of New York, followed closely by City of God. DDL is fantastic in Gangs, but the movie didn't do much for me. City Of God though, that's the real thing.     I don

The movie started off great with us learning more of the Magneto backstory and introducing us to a maniacal Kevin Bacon who was a great bad guy imo. The first 30-45 min was all about Magneto and Professor X against the bad guys which for me is awesome, but then it slipped back into introducing all the other mutants. We have to watch them learn about their powers and decide what side they are on which is all great, but we already saw the exact same freaking thing in the first X-men movie, just with different characters. I left the theater wanting more Professor X and Magneto which has been my problem with the whole franchise... sigh.
I agree with this; more Professor and Magneto, less randoms. But I still rate the movie higher than you do. Maybe I just wasn't expecting much after the horrific X3 and Wolverine movies, but I liked this one quite a bit.
Did you see Primal Fear? His first & best performance imo.
25th Hour is great as well.
Concur. I'm also one of the few who liked The Illusionist more than The Prestige.

I assume you're talking about the training montage, which I totally agree happened too quickly, but I don't think there was much way around that. Unless, as stated above, they just mostly cut the randoms screen time completely. What was the continuity/logic problem? You can

Ha I actually liked Wolverine, I agree with you on X3 though.I don't think it was a bad movie, especially for the summer when people just want to be entertained, I was just a little disappointed. Especially with the fact that it was too similar to other X-men movies. Aside from the Magneto and Professor stuff at the beginning, it was basically the same as the first two movies just with different characters. They discover their abilities, they train, they fight, they are faced with a decision of what side to join. I could have written that script.

I would have liked to see a little more of what happened to kid Magneto. All we see after the scene where his mother gets shot is him in an operating room. Thats it. I'm sure he went through a ton of shit. Especially living without parents in Nazi Germany. They could have given that whole story line its own movie and it would have made a lot more than this movie imo.

Also, did anyone catch Stan Lee's cameo in X-men? I'm usually quick to notice him in all the Marvel movies, but I must have missed it. I'm assuming he was one of the russians?(edit) just looked it up and HE HAD NO CAMEO!!!! wtf are they doing? I absolutely hate the movie now!

The Professor/Magneto bromance is the best part of the movie. In the X Men movies previous, I loved how they made Magneto gay. I mean, they don't make a big deal about it, but he's gayest supervillian I've seen on screen. I know it's because Bryan Singer has something to say about sexuality, and it's certainly easy for Ian M. to give that vibe. It all really worked for me.I also liked the 60s mod setting. I think the time shift helps, script wise too. When these super hero movies are set present day, the weaponry and technology gets out-of-hand.Cons: January Jones sucking the life out of every scene she was in. No, she's not as bad as Madonna, but January, please, stay on Mad Men, invest your money wisely.Continuity/logic flaws:

The sequence with X and Mags, the gun, and trying to move the satellite dish. The action cuts to our intrepid teens training, and then days later the movie goes to the group watching the JFK address. Mags is holding the gun (that he had days ago) wearing the same outfit. The script had one time line, and they altered during editing. The big battle scene, when the XPlane has been crash landed on the island, Mystique is guarding the door. She distracts the evil mutant that looks like the dude from the Black Eyed Peas, by appearing as Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) wearing the special helmet. None of the X Men have seen the helmet--how would Mystique know to appear wearing it?

He was wearing it when they invaded the CIA mutant training grounds. He said something like, "Where's the telepath?" and then "I guess I won't be needing this" as he took off the helmet. That probably should've been something she pointed out to Xavier when he couldn't figure out why he couldn't get into his head at the end.

Edit: Regarding January Jones...I haven't seen Mad Men, so I didn't know who she was. When I looked up her IMDB I half-expected to find out she was a porn star or something.2nd Edit: Does IMDB list porn?

Tanner you are the most fickle movie watcher ever.
I do tend to pick some movies apart, especially the one's I think have the potential to be really good. Despite all my criticisms I did say the movie was alright though.

Super 8I really liked this movie, I think it is a must see in the theater. Everything you want in a summer movie... action sequences... funny dialogue... great story... etc. All of the kid actors did an incredible job in my opinion.I would have liked some things to be explained a little bit more, but it is a JJ Abrams movie so I expected there to be a bit of confusion.

I will be going to see X-Men tonight and Kung-Fu Panda 2 later this week. I watched KFP last night as a warm up for the sequel and by golly, that's an awesome movie.

too late I forget all of my questions lol.oh heres one

why was the alien hanging people but keeping them alive?

He was just saving them for later. Pretty sure he was eating them, but I guess he preferred live food. Like the Wampa in Empire Strikes Back.

I thought this movie was pretty great; I agree with your assessment of it. This movie felt more like classic Spielberg than JJ Abrams.

Watched Super 8 last night. I really, really loved this movie. I went in with mild expectations, and it blew them away.I totally agree that it felt like an old Spielberg movie. The kid actors were all awesome. The movie was just thouroughly enjoyable for the entire duration, and surprisingly funny as well. I was just watching The Goonies the other day, and I was thinking that they don't really make movies like this anymore; family-friendly, full of innocence and wonder.Definitely a must see in theatres.

X-Men: First Class I'm a huge sucker for most movies based on comic book characters so it's no surprise that I loved this movie.

It even had the hunting and killing of nazi's.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows part oneI think I liked this more the second time around. A lot of the scenes were great (the opening chase scene, the scene at the ministry of magic, the scene at the Lovegood house, and the scene at the end at the Malfoy's all come to mind). The walking through the woods did drag on a bit though. I think they have done a great job adapting most of the books to movies, sure they miss a lot of things from the book, but I've think they have done the best they could and I've enjoyed the series.I am Number 4The dialogue was cheesy, the love story was annoying, the bad guys were pussies, but for some reason I really found myself enjoying this movie. It is about an alien who looks like a normal teenage kid who is one of the last of his kind and is being hunted for some reason. I looked for some reviews in this thread, but I didn't find anything. I'm curious to see what others think. The critics didn't like it because they think it is a ripoff of other movies like Twilight or whatever. It seems like a love it or hate it kind of movie. I for one hope there is a sequel.UnstoppableFun action movie, like most Denzel movies. He is due for another big script though. I think he is too big time for these action flicks. I want some more Training Day/American Gangster type movies from him. But I enjoyed this. Definitely worth the rent... it was better than Taking of the Pelham 123 the other recent Denzel train movie.

Watched it last week...I wanted to like it, because there were some pretty good elements that could have been unique and fun to expound on, but instead they focused on the terrible, terrible, terrible teen-angst-love-story. Also, that stupid trailer that had the giant beast in it, was super annoyingly dumb for so many reasons.

Kung-Fu Panda 2I liked it but didn't love it. A sequel with an origin story and an ending that sets up a third movie, no surprise. What I absolutely hated was the real 3D. It could be the small town theater that has, I'm guessing, an old dusty screen but the 3D is more distracting than anything. It could also be the fact that I have to wear the special glasses over my normal glasses. Maybe the lenses should be closer to my eyes? Selfishly, I'm disappointed that so many movies are coming out in 3d.

The Town.Loved it. It had one of the best first halfs of any movie in a long time, but the second half was a tiny bit of a let down. Overall, still a really, really good movie though.

I really liked that one as well, thought it was pretty solid the entire way through.

jeremy Renner is outstanding in it.The scene where

he sits down at the table with affleck when the girl had gotten up to go to the bathroom was fantastic. When he looks at Affleck and says "Doug is a real workaholic, always brings his work home with him, don't you dougie", I legitimately got chills down my spine. His previous characters have been edgy, but generally good guys. He made a very convincing scary/creepy/generally bad dude.

Yeah, Renner is a seriously talented actor, he stole the show in that movie. Stole it right away from Colin Farrell in SWAT as well, that's the first place I remember seeing him and he was really good as a villain.
