Ultimate Wave Imax 3d: Tahitiheh. Well the visuals were obviously cool because it was imax 3d. But they charged almost full price for a 45 min movie. 30 minutes of it was explaining how a wave is formed and why a wave is bigger when a reef is involved (which I have heard explained in about 1 million ****ing surf movies) then about 10-15 minutes of actual surfing.I thought the cool part was about to happen then BAM the movie is ****ing over.**** that.Grade: F

I think there needs to be a small white truck parked next to the scene of the accident, watching but not participating.

How was the crowd for The Lovely Bones?

That's how I felt when I saw Gangs of New York, followed closely by City of God. DDL is fantastic in Gangs, but the movie didn't do much for me. City Of God though, that's the real thing.     I don

The Killer Inside Me.I love me some Casey Affleck, and he's pretty damn good once again. The story is a bit jilted and not always explained as much as it should be, which leads to some confusion while watching. Some pretty brutal violence, mixed with some sex. Liked the film, but probably won't be watching again. Also watched Kickass last night, and enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.

I saw The Other Guys, and enjoyed it. I'll probably watch it again at some point.

I just saw Hot Tub Time Machine also. It was mildly entertaining. I think it was kind of lazy though, and they could have done a lot more with it and made it way more funny.I really like John Cusack, but he picks some weird roles. I feel like he is an oscar-worthy actor, but most of his recent movies are just silly. Also, I think Craig Robinson is not funny. He is ok in The Office when he gets about 30 seconds of screen time every other episode
I watched it this weekend. Rob Corddry was the only redeeming factor. (the "you suck and you know it!" line still cracks me up). The movie was major meh for the most part and I would not see it again.

The AmericanI had really high hopes for this movie--one of my favorite biopics ever is Control. I thought this movie was just alright, though. I was lucky enough to see it on a huge screen, and Anton Corbjn makes beautiful, beautiful images--but I still thought it was just alright.

Manhunter. I was disappointed in Michael Mann the exact same way I was disappointed in the Coen's after I saw Blood Simple. Very 80's style. Ending was terribly directed. Actors weren't near as good as from Red Dragon.4/10 now9/10 in 1986

I'm really looking forward to 'The Town'.Gone Baby Gone was fantastic, the only downside is that Ben Affleck is actually acting in this one, which I think was/is a mistake, he should have used his brother again, but it looks promising anyway.

A Perfect Getaway-Decent. Nice twist and I enjoyed the little discussions along the way (between Olyphant's and Zahn's characters) about screenplay writing and how those discussions directly applied to the movie itself. The Other Guys-Really funny. Don't know how rewatchable it is, but definitely worth seeing one time for sure.

Get LowRobert Duvall. The movie was good, but it missed its potential.Serious spoiler alert: Read this and the movie will be ruined for you.

Duvall needed to ask forgiveness, but he refused through the movie to ask of God, then he asks the crowd, signifying that he reached the point where he felt he needed forgiveness. The problem is that he turned his whole life into one of paying for his sin, then demanded that his asking forgiveness be on his terms. This is contrary to the nature of the act of asking forgiveness. Throughout the movie the implication is that he manipulates things to get his way, that he is controlling everything. So he cheated with another man's wife, caused her death, but refused to tell anyone the truth of what happened because he would take care of it himself, then he plans his party, demanding that things go his way. When they don't he cancels the party. Everyone dances around his needs, and then he comes forward and tells his sin, when only one person there even remotely cares. Everyone else is there for a raffle drawing. The movie left the question of who tried to steal the money, and what happened to all the money raised in the raffle. He supposedly redeemed himself by forcing his own 'prison' and then telling his story to the sister of the woman who he basically caused her death because he wanted her to leave her husband and come with him. Hardly a message of contrition or of penance. More like selfishness causing pain in others, with his entire life one of personal demands that he get to pay for his sins his way.

But I enjoyed the movie, just afterwards noticed what was bugging me about the whole thing.

Yeah, I thought this movie had parts (Duvall, Spacek, Murray) which were greater than its sum. I really liked the performances, and the quiet confidence Duvall and Spacek in particular have. Murray is starting to give me ham vibe, which is a shame.

The themes of sin and forgiveness gave me the feeling that in this story, it was not for the characters to decide what the definition of either was. Maybe if Duvall had been contrite at the moment of infidelity, then the church could have offered forgiveness. It seemed to me the pastor refused to give forgiveness because Duvall had attempted to craft his own penance. I was super impatient with the editor/director deciding to cut from Duvall's face in the final scenes to show the lady in white. You have Robert Duvall on a screen, letting his face tell you the whole story, being a fantastically conflicted and Christian man. You don't need to get all tv movie of the week by cutting to a ghostly female figure.

I've been on a movie binge lately:Howl B or B+It's Franco's movie. There are other stars in it, they do a good job, but they're not necessary for their roles. I know Howl was shocking at the time, and it's sexuality was something that polite people didn't talk about. It's not the most erotic poem I've read, and I'm not the most well-read person. Howl doesn't shock me, but I didn't feel like it shocked the characters on the screen, either. The American CI was really disappointed, I wanted to love this movie, and found myself bored, and never transported. I saw it about a month ago, and now I can barely remember it.Never Let Me Go B or B+It's like the anti-Inception. It's got a lot of heart, but almost no sci-fi know how.

The characters are not in a position to DO much (think low socio-economic class), but their lack of social sway seems to translate into passive nature regarding their social lives.

The Town BIt's a good, solid movie. Affleck gives a good sense of place.

I found the plot to be a little generic, and I wanted to trim some of the story. Blake Lively doesn't bring anything special to the role. I didn't believe Claire would stay involved with Doug MacCray after the FBI exposes him. She looks like a middle class girl, having the rough equivalent of a summer fling after a traumatic experience. I didn't believe her feelings for MacCray were so strong, that she would stay involved with this guy. Also, I wanted the note with the money to say something like "Dear Claire, I'm sorry. Here's some money. Love, Doug. PS You might want to launder this before use."

Catfish C (with sudden bursts of hating this movie so much I thought I was going to become violent)The movie is just okay. Brett Ratner is listed as a producer, so I think my flashes of irate, teeth-grinding rage are totally understandable. This movie felt super manipulative at parts, with some nice moments sprinkled.

There is no way on this earth this movie is documentary. Look at the ****ing screen. Do you see all of the pretty, pretty people? Do you see the careful art direction, with pops of color? Life is dull and drab. This movie makes you think of soft focus romance. There's more, but I know my reaction isn't proportional.

The Winning Season CI also hated this movie in greater proportion than its sins. In general, I love sports movies, and I really like movies with interesting female characters. This movie is all about the drunken coach. The girls are used as props. Blerg.

So I watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade last night - it's probably the best action movie ever made. It's just amazing. Does anybody think this could happen: A major director or producer will eschew computer-generated action and in exchange make an entire big-budget picture with no CGI, and use that as a selling point. 'No CGI! All real stunts and real camerawork! In 2D!' Or is that just totally wishful thinking?
