I also re-watched Miller's Crossing recently - absolutely fantastic.Just saw Burn After Reading. It was....meh for a Coen Brothers movie, but still a whole lot better than like 99.9% of the crap that comes out.

Brad Pitt's character was kind of almost funny, but didn't make a lot of sense. Was he gay, but didn't want to commit to going 'full-gay?' Was he just flamboyant? Basically my problems were that I felt like there wasn't enough character development for pretty much anybody except Frances McDormand (who was excellent, as always), secondly that like half the funny parts were totally ruined by the commercials, and third and most importantly that the plot was kind of obvious from the beginning, and even from the previews.

I mean it was good, certainly worth seeing, but measured against their other films it was a bit disappointing.

I think there needs to be a small white truck parked next to the scene of the accident, watching but not participating.

How was the crowd for The Lovely Bones?

That's how I felt when I saw Gangs of New York, followed closely by City of God. DDL is fantastic in Gangs, but the movie didn't do much for me. City Of God though, that's the real thing.     I don

Milk... I came in thinking I was going to be bored out of my mind, but wow what a great movie, I highly recommend it.Sean Penn did a truly amazing acting job, I hope he wins some awards although I know how much the academy loves Clint.

I just watched the first 30 minutes of, and I swear to god this is true, American Psycho 2, staring.... Mila Kunis and William Shantner. The movie starts out with a voice over of Mila, flashing back to her childhood. She's at a dinner table, with who is supposed to be her baby sitter. Her sitter has taken her out on a date.. a date with Patrick Bateman. Child Kunis is tied to a table, as is the Baby sitter. While bateman is murdering the babysitter, child kunis gets free, stabs bateman in the back with an ice pick, and scoots off and out of the apartment. It was the scene of Bateman's last murder, and was considered a giant "mystery" who killed bateman. So this event completely dominates kunis's mind, and makes her want to go out and stop serial kills.. back to the present, at "west washington" college, the foremost behavior studies program in the nation, where William Shanter is the prized professor, a former FBI profiler, who's last case ( that he never talks about) was Bateman.... I make it about 20 more minutes or so.. as dumb as that sounds, it's much dumber.. but not in an entertaining way. If anyone is morbidly curious, I saw it on "fearnet on demand", if you have time warner cable ( and heaven help you if you do have those ****ing **** socks.)

I actually think that Mickey Roarke's turn in Wrestler will be the biggest threat. Though considering how many homosexuals vote for the oscars, I wouldn't be surprised if Milk won..

Yea I really want to see that and Gran Torino. They are all different roles though it will be hard to pick a winner.Homo or not, Penn was amazing though. I knew of Harvey Milk from history class back in the day, but I didn't remember all the details about what he did. It was pretty awesome what he accomplished. He was like the gay Martin Luther King lol. The supporting actors were really good also.

holy sht, i can't believe that wasn't a straight to video release. I was thinking as I was watching the first 30 minutes, how in god's name did this get okay'd. I mean seriously how the hell does that movie get made?

Not to call you a liar or anything, Jube, but from american psycho 2's wiki entry...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Psycho_2

American Psycho 2: All American Girl is a stand-alone 2002 direct-to-video spin off of Mary Harron's 2000 film adaptation of American Psycho. It is directed by Morgan J. Freeman and stars Mila Kunis as Rachel Newman, a driven criminology student who is drawn to murder. The film also features William Shatner as a professor.
If this is not true, someone needs to do a little wiki editing , me thinks.

i originally thought that saying it was $72 was the tipoff that i was joking (sad if that seems realistic), but then thought surely, my comment about wishing i made up a bigger number would do it...

he was joking.saw max payne last night. holy jesus, what a steaming pile of rotten horse manure that thing was. speaking of mila kunis, she was in it. as a bad ass. yeah. jackie was trying to be a mean criminal. fuck me running that was stupid. I guess this is why I don't go to the movies too much since most of them are bad like this, so the expected value is just too small. I mean it was painful to sit through.

I was already typing my response when you posted about the "wishing you'd made up a bigger number" post.... IN my defense, 72 dollars doesn't sound unreasonable for dinner and a movie type action, and It could conceivably be hyperbole to express frustration about how much movies cost these days. That said, I wish I would have seen your "wishing i'd made up a bigger number" post before I plunged ahead.

If you decide to spend money to go to see a movie that's based on a video game, you get what you fcking deserve.

ahhh timestamps.
not sure if you're implying i'm lying or saying that to agree with me. The stamps are 10:56 and mine was 10:57.. which is consistant with my claim of typing my "liar" response during your posting..Here's how I see it from a time line...1052... shocked that you had gone to a theatre to see this pile of crap, i start to make an astounded post. The very idea of seeing the movie in the theatre was so shocking to me, that i didn't even consider it was a joke. 1053 the post goes up10:54 You read my post, and have a little chuckle at stupidity. 10:55.05 I start to read the wiki pedia page about American Psycho 2, wanting to know how historically bad this movie was. Then, I see what i think is a smoking gun, the entry about it being straight to video. Rather than see the truth, that this is an obvious joke, my obtuseness causes me to barrel ahead.10:55.50 You start your post, mocking my inability to see an obvious joke10:56.13 I start my post, to bring this" smoking gun" to light...10:56.40 you post your post10:57 I post my post10 58 I read your post, realize what has happened, and slink out of the thread without bothering to edit my post, choosing to let my shame be recorded for all of time.

oh I agree. we went to see zack and miri make a porno, but my friends apparently felt that movie start times must have been just a suggestion, so we got there 30 minutes too late and max payne was the only thing starting. I figured "hey, its mark whalberg. I typically like what he does, even when it's bad. what could go wrong?" plus, it was only a buck.

i'm way too tired to get into anything here, believe me. not calling you a liar. your timeline seems pretty accurate. however, my 'ah timestamps' post was a decision mocking myself, because i missed the simultaneousnessocity of our posts last night.i don't think i'm communicating well in the thread, except to Sal. which is only appropriate since we'd be soulmates, if only i was a single mom.

i actually figured as much, but I figured it couldn't hurt chasing good money after bad and make an absurd timeline.

I will come out of the closet and say that I do indeed like Shia.
It was inevitable.

you don't come to off topic enough, iveyfan, to know aboutA) suited vast homosexual crush on shiaB) his ironic sense of humor. He was using queerbag ironically, not as a legitimate insult.(his fandom may well be Ironic too... my personal theory is that he pretends it's an ironic fandom, to cover he's deeply seeded sexual attraction to shia. Suited has had various "man crushes" over the years, and it's a running joke that he is protective of them in an inmature and jealously rabid way. But behind every joke, there is a kernel of truth, or in this case a shame boner) Sorry if I ruined your potential fun, suited, but I like Ivey fan, and he doesn't deserve the rose treatment.
