Players Using Pokerbility

Recommended Posts

I was just playing a SnG and there was a user who after winning a big pot wrote in the chat "thank you pokerbility" So me being curious I asked him what pokerbility was and told me to check out the website so i did. This is what I found. Pokerbility was developed by Advice Network Ltd., by a group of software engineers with the close consultancy of leading poker players from around the world. The objective of the software is to provide poker players of all levels with an easy-to-use, real-time hand odds calculator to enhance their poker skills.First thing I thought to myself is this can't be legal can it? I mean I'll be first to admit I've only been playing and learning the game of poker for about a year and know I am not gods gift to poker and make bad plays from time to time but why would someone use this software. I mean you can't use it outside of online poker so if you went to a casino you'd be lost without it. Also does pokerstars allow this I know for one if someone used this program and it helped them beat me I'd be pissed. So anyone got any info on this? Thanks

I've asked Stars about a couple of tools. Both were prohibited. They respond pretty quickly.Brann

I wonder how they are going to look at software om my computer?
Most of the large site's software will read the other programs that you're running on your computer while you're playing.

Really? That would be a serious invasion of privacy. Does anyone have there user agreement where that is stated?
From Pstars user agreement
5.5. AUTOMATIC PLAYERS (BOTS). The use of artificial intelligence including, without limitation, "robots" is strictly forbidden in connection with the Service. All actions taken in relation to the Service by a User must be executed personally by players through the user interface accessible by use of the Software.5.6. You agree that PokerStars may take steps to detect and prevent the use of prohibited EPA Programs. These steps may include, but are not limited to, examination of software programs running concurrently with the PokerStars Software on the User's computer.
Quick note to the OP. Report the guy. You may get your buyin back. Basically programs like this are telling what to do, so essentially you're playing a computer.

Does anyone know which sites don't allow it. Some players have many sites that they play on. What if site A allows it, and site B bans you or takes your money away for cheating?
MANY sites? You can't play on so many that you can't email them to check.First, start with the ones that are actually compatible with it.

If it just gives you the basic hand odds on hands I don't see the problem. You say you couldn't use it live but you most certainly have a chart with you that give you odds on making flush/set/two pair/ etc.

  • 3 weeks later...
Yeah, pretty sure that's legal.
i think it's only illegal if you're playing with real money...there are alot of calculators i play with for "free money"...so, to avoid being involved in illegal activities...i play in fake-money games with the calculator....and without a calc in real money games.....i use it for practice...if you can't play a real game without cheating you shouldn't call yourself a man

I hope this is a joke post. You probably also think it's an invasion of privacy that your ISP can log/check what websites you visit too.

Report him to PokerStars for blatant advertising of non-PS software. At least you might be able to get his chat banned.Although it appears obvious to me, so as to avoid confusion I will point out that this post is to be appended with an open parenthesis, followed by the 19th letter of the english alphabet, followed by the 23rd letter of the english alphabet, followed by a closed parenthesis.
