F C P Golf Weekend Info! Prices, Times, Deadline, Etc.

Recommended Posts

Hey gang-Just got home after spending the better part of the 4 hr 11 min drive (a personal best w/ a pit stop and no radar detec) thinking about the weekend and planning how to write my trip report. I intend it to be strong, so this isn't it. But I wanted to jump on this thread first to say thanks to all you guys for being part of what I consider to be a righteous last hurrah of a Vegas weekend (with baby 2 due in four weeks, this was likely it for me for, well, eternity). So a plethora of gracias muchos for that.More importantly, wanted to say thanks to the posts critiquing BRAND. On Saturday, I was talking with Rebecca, our Light Group/BRAND contact, about VIP list action at JET for that night (great time, BTW) and she asked how our dinner was. I responded that there were "definitely a few hiccups" (lol), and I would love to share detailed feedback with her on Monday (astute deflection ftw). So rest assured I will do a summation of everyones' comments here. FWIW, I was muy disappointed about the water--not from a charge standpoint because that's pretty standard I guess, but from the fact that I was not informed in advance. I mean, heck, I showed up a half hour early to meet their staff and fight off any last minute curveballs...and they neglect to mention their multi-benjamin water strategy? wtf.Anyway, quickly, I too thought the service was 7-8 minutes behind for each course but I'd put the food at a B...A for taste (everything I thought was pretty damn good, but then my Vegas experiences are limited, for sure) but a C for value. I'll post my full thoughts/email to BRAND after I compose and send it tomorrow from work. Just rest assured I'm feelin' ya on these comments.Killer trip report tomorrow night, promise. Too much fun stuff to keep to myself for too long...

This and the work stuff is why I did not make it.
So a plethora of gracias muchos for that.
I hope you know what that means.

Just to add to what everyone has said:I live here and enjoy eating out and have been to a number of places like Fix and Mesa Grill and placed up and down the strip. This was the first place that I have ever been to that automatically served you something (fiji water) that cost something without giving you an option. I mean, at $8 a bottle or whatever it was, they might as well have been handing out beers. Every other place you go to will offer you a mineral water or sparkling water and all you have to do is say "no thanks" and then they bring you a free glass of Lake Mead goodness. If they wanted to charge us for water, that would be fine, but they should've made reference to it because I'm sure that nobody there cared enough to pay for that water over tap water. And their efficiency was amazing. By the end of the meal, I'm sure everyone still had a full glass of water. No wonder it cost $225.I thought the meal was good, but the steak was kind of boring. It was bland and it didn't come with any sauces or anything that these places typically make for them. I thought that the rest of the meal was really good including the soup, the salad, sides and dessert. I would probably not go back there though since I've been to Fix several times and it just seems better in all the places that count, including service, value and just the overall quality of the food. The wine was amazing and thanks to Monix for that. Additional thanks to everyone who put up the efforts to bring this all together and to Balloon Guy for supplying jumbo sized tasty cancer sticks to everyone at every step of the day.

Such coincidences. Last night Jesse, Casey and myself go play at the Venetian. Initially we are all at separate tables and then Jesse gets moved to my table. I'm like "cool, one more fish". Our table is actually pretty good. One guy 2 to my right is literally playing every pot, but he is talking about implied odds, blah, blah, blah so at first I think "hmmmm....maybe he is decent". About 10 hands in, I figure out this isn't true. The guy talks non-stop, says he is from Ohio. At one point Casey comes over and is talking to me and the guy says something to him. Turns out this huge fish at our table lived next to Casey growing up. LOOOOOOOL.

The most important thing I learned from these guys this weekend was not about poker strategy. It was that clicking that little orange box next to a topic takes you to the last read post in a thread. Such a time saver.

Go out to the main list of topics in general. Look to the left of the topic title, you'll see a little orange box. click it :club:(I learned this too this weekend. My second favorite board thing, only behind clicking the 'quote' buttons on multiple posts so I can quote more than one person at once)Mark

QFT. I was at dinner Sat night with some Air Force guys. They asked how much I work and I said about 2 hours a day. Poor guys almost had a heart attack, and then lost all respect for me when they regained their composure :)Mark

Yeah, that one would drive me nuts when I would see Vick12 doing it all the time. I was like WTF?! I would always do the copy paste thing until I figured out the easy way. Also when you use the quote button you can reply in a different thread and it will show up there.
