nutzbuster 7
Option 1, and if they make the fish option ANYTHING but salmon it would be awesome if I don't happen to be in the mood for a steak that night. I agree Pots. Most folks like a white fish me thinks? Thanks again for working this out with M C.Looking like option 1 has a very strong lead.
Potsie P 0
Looks like we've got 16 for option #1, 0 for option #2 (see edited list from earlier post).Quick notes:Group--are we leaning towards the $65 or $100 menu? Note: if we do the Surf-n-Turf its not an issue because that's the entree. But to clarify on the $65 one...we would need to submit entree selections in advance of the date, so there won't be changing last minute.Copernicus--any options for advance payment besides Paypal?Suited Up and White Fish Lovers--I'm thinking we can get a mass-substitution for the Sole over the Salmon on the $65 option if that's the pref. Additionally, I think if we're shelling out $100 a man for the Surf-n-Turf, they won't mind making a couple Sole dishes as well...

I thought we each got the option once there. Not sure I like that.I expected nothing less, Sally. (i keed!)No, see, that's the point of choosing a menu. We do it in advance so everyone knows exactly what they are getting and what their cost is, but more importantly so BRAND knows in advance exactly what to prepare so they have every dish perfect right at 7:32pm or whatever. All this means is you just choose and pay in advance, instead of when you're sunburned and drunk... Details to follow if/when Option #1 becomes our choice. Thanks for this, C-man...Add Zach Anderson to the list too plz. (my nephew). And with that it looks like we have the majority going option 1.So unless there is any vehement opposition, looks like option one is the winner, no?

cubsfan44 0
Im a bit confuzzled. Do we have to decide as a group whether we want the $65 or the $100? Or can we choose indvidually?

We need to agree on one or the other AS A GROUP. $65 menu would then give each person the option of steak or fish. $100 would mean steak and lobster for all.

I figure at this point, us 20 can make the call and let others join or bail based on that decision going forward. So choose your menu if you haven't yet...

From my restaurant experience we often had 2 options like that for people that wanted to spend more to choose from. For sure there is no way everyone would choose the lobster option and I can't imagine they would think we would as a group of 30+. So my guess is they are just offering it as an upgrade if some want it.Can you verify, or do you know this for sure that its either or? If you are sure about this, then you might as well cross the surf/turf off the list because for sure not everyone will want that and won't want to be forced to pay for it just because the other 80% of the group wants it.Mark

They need to know EXACTLY what we're getting? Why? They have enough of everything, don't they? They plan on having a relatively busy night don't they?I understand making it a choice, so they can narrow it down, but saying everyone needs to eat the same thing is just stupid and I would rather eat somewhere else that will accomodate that.I guarantee you other places would do a much better job of this. Hell, most might even let us order from the menu. If not, they wouldn't say, you're all eating the exact same thing.

Until we do that, can everyone hold off on cancelling because things might change. (unless you just want to cancel anyway thats fine. but if you're indeed canceling because you don't like the current plan, I'm not sure how you can do that because we don't have an exact plan yet :)When Potsie or someone posts a final: Here is the exact deal on what we're doing, etc, then everyone can say they don't like it and back out. :)Mark

Potsie P 0
Just called and left msg to verify if what I posted is correct. I'm with you guys that there should be some wiggle room. After all, we are their first large group. They need to experiment. If we can all hold horses until I hear (and this may be in 5 minutes or it may be Monday), let's do that. Cool? Cool. Cool. Thanks Pots, just cause we're complaining doesn't mean we aren't appreciative of what you're trying to set up. I know its hard to get a group like this organized.I am pretty familiar with the inner workings of restaurants and stuff. Ideally, they should be able to say you're going to have a menu with a steak, fish, and chicken entree on it, and if you want you can upgrade the steak to surf and turf. And we would be able to decide on which of these things we'd want when we arrive, not in advance. That is what I would consider 'standard' for a big group. Plus, make sure they know we're all poker players. IMO the waitstaff should be drooling over us, plus we will order more alcohol than they probably have available. Really that is what they should be taking advanced orders on, drinks... ;)Mark
