why does daniel play the big boys?

Recommended Posts

this is directed to the person who talked about skimming a big bet or 2from the big game. Im guessing u meant per hr right? Im thinking that over time ur crushing that game if u win .5 of a big bet per hr. any thoughts? the competition is just not making that many mistakes.Even against fish ur not going to make much more than 2 or 3 big bets per hr over the long haul. Im curious as to how bad anyone thinks they can "crush" any game per hr over the long haul.If u beat any game for more than 4 bets an hr over a significant amount of time(thousands of hrs) id like to hear about it and i applaud you.

Daniel averages about $4,000 per hour playing in the high limit cash games. It is obvious that some of you have never observed (0r played in) the 4/8k game, but it is very rare to have more than 1-2 non-professional player at that table. Here is a post from Daniel about the money he makes playing this cash game.

Date Limit Hours ResultFeb 6 1500-3000 7 +45,600Feb 21 4000-8000 8 -251,000Feb 22 4000-8000 8 -190,000Feb 26 4000-8000 5 +598,000Mar 1 4000-8000 31 -114,000Mar 18 2000-4000 2.5 + 16,500Mar 30 2000-4000 5.5 + 25,300Apr 9 100-200 NL 1.5 + 1,200Apr 15 2000-4000 3 + 78,000Apr 16 4000-8000 6 +120,000April 29 80-160 5 + 5,200May 1 40-80 1 + 1,400May 4 80-160 .5 + 700Totals 84 +336,900Hourly Rate= $4010.71
I personally prefer to play the 100/200 NL game because I think it keeps me fresh for tourney play and I have a substantial hourly profit. I have played the 1500/3000 tables, but I make a lot more money at the NL table.

Three, every players dream is to win a bracelet.  Kunish would call it some "Vegas pipe-dream".  Only 290 people on this earth wear a world series bracelt.  As poker players we all aspire to improve our game, so that one day we may have our names written down and become immortalized with the other legends of poker.  Negreanu plays with the other masters to better his game, so that one day he can call himself  "a World Champion of Poker" as Johnny Chan so humbly put it.
 :bubblewow: Puts it into perspective, doesnt it?? Now thats a post that should fire you up!!! Well said.

Pokerghost wrote: hmmm 4k an hr huh? or put another way .5 of a big bet an hr. exactly what i thoughtDaniel wrote:April 29 80-160 5 + 5,200 May 1 40-80 1 + 1,400 May 4 80-160 .5 + 700 That's part of the problem. These don't really count. I'm not sure how well Daniel's actually focusing at these levels either, but Daniel's not gonna make a big chunk of change per hour at these stakes. And at these levels it's a lot more than .5BB/hr.I'll also note that the losses came two days in a row, and I can't think that's a coincidence. And I see quite a few +s in a row there.Still, they're pros he's playing. I pretty much doubt any pro wins more than 2BB an hour in the big game nowadays. Maybe I'm wrong...

Actually you should do whatever is the most profitable to you. Poker is about making money, period.
How can you make a blanket statement like that? Poker is a game that is usually played for money. It is also played for charity, and just for fun. It's played for items of clothing on occasion. What poker is about is entirely a personal thing.
