Meh, 5ish outs on average here, but a decent chance of having the best hand. The top card pairing turn is easily, and often bluffed it. I think, without a read, this one, I'd call down, even tho the pot is quite small.Keep in mind I've played nothing but HU for the last 4 months, so I may be way too out of touch with FR.

I don't know, I think I would be inclined to call this one down. Villain did just check call on the flop. And what type of hand with an 8 in it calls a raise out of the SB with nobody else in the pot then check calls the flop after making top pair? I don't get it.

Call down IMO, 5 safe outs if you're behind, but I also think you are ahead here often enough.

Keeping in mind that this is basically a steal situation?I don't know how much of an effect that has on the hand, though, at these stakes, and at full ring.

This is a draw often enough to call down. Most villains will lead or check-raise an 8 on the flop.

I see him being passive with A8 and fearing we have a better pair, so he plays it safe.Or even 67 or 44.What I did not see very much was getting c/r'd and winning with 66 on this board.And belive me, I called down a ton. I think when villain leads river we are not ahead the 2/9.5 times it would take to call down from the turn c/rCan we argue to call the turn and assume villain will give up on the river, and check behind, or fold?

Why is 66 not a fold?Thought 66 was a fold with out at least 5 or more seeing the flop. even then I thought this starting hand was only a call?RabidTortuga I know you are asking about the turn but I thought about this hand a lot. Now you know I am new at poker for the most part and you are well aware of what skill leval I am at.With that in mind, I wanted to ask you something about this hand and you can tell me if my think is wright?66 is a small pokcet pair that you need a multiway pot to play them. Now I know you are more advance then I, but can not see why you raised going in. Maybe a steal wich is pass my level of play.I am missing something?

We're opening from late position.I think it's something to add to widen your LP opening rangeNow, if Blinds defend and are tough players, I'm not so keen on playing sm/mid pairs for steals

I think 66 is a definite open from the CO against any blinds that you would be in a game with in the first place.

If you aren't folding, I think you should usually raise.

66 is about the bottom end of my range for stealing the blinds against typical non-defenders, or tightish players who are likely to give up on the flop. It's just enough of a hand that, if I do have to play postflop, I can usually try to make good decisions.If the blinds were solid or defended aggressively, I'd tend to open fold in this spot.If the blinds are very tight and almost never defended, I'd widen my range to include all pocket pairs and almost any two reasonable cards, including offsuit connectors with some high card strength down to about 87 and 97, and pretty much any two suited cards. The blinds really have to be clueless, though.In this case, I had no strong reads yet, and assumed they were typical until proven otherwise.
