Dobbo049 0
I need some help with raise sizeing, its always somthing i seem to get wrong...When i do have a strong hand i tend to raise either not enough so everyone calls and i either loose to a lucky play who gets a flush on the river or somthing or i bet too high and no one calls where i had the potential to win alot. And when i have somthing like pocket aces i tend not to raise high enough so everyone calls and then some lucky ammateur wins with somthing stupid like 2 pair, 2s and 7s. Which annoys me. I think one of the reasons i loose alot is because theres too many people playing. So if anyone got gimme some tips, it would be much appreciatedThanksStu

Dobbo049 0
Vague question to a Vague answer.... whats PSB?
MikeBauer26 0
PSB is a "Pot Sized Bet".Example:You have AA. There is 1.20$ in the Pot. The flop is 3s Js 9h. You raised preflop and got one caller. If you bet "Pot sized" you bet 1.20 and give your opponents bad odds for drawing to a better hand.If you only bet 30 cents here, dont be surprised if you are chased by JcTc. What do you mean with "When i do have a strong hand i tend to raise either not enough so everyone calls and i either loose to a lucky play who gets a flush on the river or somthing or i bet too high and no one calls where i had the potential to win alot. "?Just post an example. But please please please use a hand converter.
d0c 0
PSB - pot size bet. It would be fine preflop and postflop. Usually preflop bets are a bit more than pot and postflop bets are a bit less. Each situation still needs special consideration.More reading here http://archives1.twoplustwo.com/showflat.p...ge=152&vc=
Dobbo049 0
thanks what i ment by that was say im holding 10 / J (say the pot is about $50 and 5 players (i dont play for real money))and the flop comes A / 9 / Q So iv got an open ended straight drawsay i bet about $20 2 fold, 1 callspot is $90turn 8 excelent, iv hit my straighti bet $65 1 callpot is $220river card 3 ok theres a flush there but surely he wouldnt have kept calling me and praying on the low odds that he willl hit it ?i bet $100he raises to $200i call (going with what i thort about him not calling on such low odds)pot is $620i loose to somone with 2 / 4 that just pisses me off because if i was playing i wouldnt have even called the big blind with that. MikeBauer26 0
(i dont play for real money))Thats where your problem is. You're probably playing with your friends for pure fun and hence nobody wants to miss a piece of the action. Try playing with a Big Blind of 2 cents with them. See how they tighten up.Alternatively stop taking it too serious when you are not playing for money.
d0c 0
Whole hand is important (i.e preflop also).Fun tables game is crazy. Only thing you can do is: value bet, value bet, value bet. What it means in this case is that DON'T bet the flop. You don't have a hand yet. When you get the hand fire away AT LEAST pot size bet. River call seems fine.
Dobbo049 0
ok say i was playing that for real moneyare the bets i made correct or should they be bigger/smaller?

d0c 0
Betting draws is ONLY profitable when you have fold equity. There's not much fold equity in fun money tables (nor 1c/2c table for that matter). Also you don't have to confuse other players at these limits as they are already confused by various things.
Dobbo049 0
ok thanks Other that than i dont know much about making profitable calls/raises and folds which is another thing that gets me. Knowing when its profitable to call somone. i know it meens that in the long run you will make more money that you loose but what do you put it up against? if the pot odds are 1:3 for example, what do you compair that to? your outs? if so i presume it only works on the flop turn and river. you cant use it preflop?im not going to ask you to explain the hole thing, if you know of a good article explaining it ill be happy to read that Thanks Stu
d0c 0
When you make any move you have to put your opponent to hand range. Less information you have the wider the range will be and bigger your error rate will be.Its not possible to answer general questions in one post. If you're interested enough you should lurk around forums and read/understand.You can start form here: http://www.pr0crast.com/2+2.NL.Anthology.v1.htm

KennyMatch 0
Pot odds and implied odds are good things to think about when you are making a bet.But - you will find that this only means something when ppl are concerned about winning or losing. If you are on play money then you will find that ppl will just call regardless or even shove. On Microlimits things become a little more sensible but not much, and as the limits go higher then there will be less calling. More folds or reraise. Try watching tables at different limits and observe what ppl do.
