Well, the main theory behind playing LAG instead of tag is that you play more hands so you're in more pots vs players that are worse than you, thus putting you in more +EV situations. Also LAG players are able to get their big hands paid off more often, and for more money. If you have AK and flop is K83 rainbow and you bet flop and a solid nit raises you, you might as well fold. But if a lagtard guy with this crazy image raises you, there is no way you fold.So if you're thinking about being a more laggy player, remember that you're developing this crazy image when the pot is small and its cheap, or when you have a lot of outs. You're 3betting in position preflop with random hands. You're floating the flop and betting when checked too on the turn. You're check raising the flop with air when the board looks unlikely to have helped villian. One of the most important things about being a laggy players is having a good understanding of how 'the majority' of players play, and then observing villians to see if they play hands differently. Exploiting tendencies is one of the key things lags need to be able to do. You will be going into a lot of pots with the worst hand, so you need to be really good at picking up pots where nobody has much, and taking pots from villians when you know they can't stand the heat.For instance: The 'standard' way a lot of villians play AA is to bet the flop, check the turn for pot control, and bet the river. So if you flop a draw vs a villian like this, and they bet the flop, you can just call with your draws because you know you'll get to see two more streets for free. Or, if you see a villian who you know uses this standard line all of a sudden betting the turn, then you can call him with middle pair because he's likely to be two barrel bluffing. Being a GREAT post flop player is really important if you're going to lag it up because you get to the flop with the worst hand much of the time.Mark
This was a terrific read Mark. And for the record, I still remember the the time I played with Mark, I called with 78off caught 2 pair, shipped it and he called with his AA, then sucked out on me on the river whenn the board paired. lolSigh. Now I'm gonna have to nitty it up at all the FCP Chicago homes games.
Very good stuff. What kind of limitations do you put on starting hands. Is it basically any suited connector/gapper and up? I would assume you want some sort of potential with your hands. I mean I've seen you make plays with like 34s, but how much lower than that will you be willing to go?Personally, I've started adding the check raise with air into my game, and it does relatively well, but I still don't feel fully comfortable with it. I don't do it every time I feel like I should. I assume if I played with a correct BR, than I would take a few more chances with things like this. But I'm also a bit timid putting in that bigger bet on the turn, whether I'm just following up my c-bet or following my flop bluff. I still hate to do it. I usually end up checking in position. OOP I'm just lost in that situation. Honestly, I think my game ends up being a little too hybrid when I start doing these things that I end up losing eventually. I spew too many chips making these plays, and then can't deal as well when I lose the hand straight up. So when I end up just playing ABC, I always seem to do better. And maybe it's because I'm never playing higher than 1/2NL, but who knows really. I think I need to just watch you play a few hours or something, lol.... That and get a real BR.
There are none. :club::ts

Well at least you didn't tear your rotator cuff, so now I only feel bad that you just told 20,000 FCPers you bench less than my wife.
I remember benching the bar in middle school and feeling accomplished.

Well you may be the only male on here over 15 that weighs less than mark (and is not a documented midget).

Mark, with your new Laggy Style, do you tend to put more people on tilt more often? I mean, do they beat the crap out of garbage cans and run over parking signs when you stack them off? Do you get any joy out of it?

I feel bad for the garbage cans out there. They're often abused with no recourse for retribution. When I tilt people, I try and do it in a can and sign free environment for safety.Mark

I can bench 125lbs. I felt like that was kinda weak but Shannon pointed out that means I can bench her, so I guess thats all that matters?MarkEdit: Oh man Chris just told me he does 3 sets of 10 reps at 150. I guess I'm still a weakling :club:
I think this makes sense. You just started working our regularly for one thing. For another, you are probably in the top 5% of guys with your level of blond highlights, so don't feel bad at all. A good gauge is your body weight. If you can work up to benching what you weigh, that is pretty good. If all else fails, 'Roids are an option.Here is a poker question, while I'm here. Can you do a brief overview of stack size considerations both pre-flop and beyond. For example, say a nitty player raises pre-flop and you are behind him with a marginal holding. What is the minimum stack you need nitty to have to get involved. How does this change if you are in the CO/ on the button Button to if you are in the blinds, if at all.
