Question About Las Vegas Accommodation For Poker Players

Recommended Posts

I read somewhere about discount accomodation for poker players who play for x amount of hours at the casino they are staying at. I was interested if anyone had heard anything about this type of offer or any other good offers of the sort.

you dont really get comps for playing poker; they're kind of shitty. call the hotel and ask if they have poker room rates. it depends on when you're going; if it's peak travel time, you probably wont get any kind of deal

It's called a "poker room rate". How much of a discount you get and how to get the rate will vary. Usually the poker room rate is better than the rack rate but worse than other promo rates you can find though that will depend on when (day of week, time of year) you're going and what's going on - good luck getting a discount rate during CES.

There's no such thing... not really. You'll get a better rate with AAA or being a gov employee. They don't even track your time in most poker rooms to get free meals. Best bet for comps is go the BJ table and launder chips for about 5 hours per day.... that'll get you free food at least and sometimes a free night. You have to be somewhat of a decent player though or 5 hours of laundering could get you 200$ in discounts but cost you $500 in actual cash. Seen that happen before. Find a 2-deck table for 25$ if you can... easy to count into a 2 deck

When I goto Vegas I just basically need a bed for like 3 hours a night so HATE paying for rooms, but unforunately it is a necessity. When I go I stay at Binions downtown. Actually just booked there for my trip in June. There regular weekday rate is $59 and weekend rate is $79 and if you put in 3 - 4 hours of poker per day then the room is $29 on weekdays and $45 on weekends. You pay the full rate when you register then just see the poker room manager for a voucher to get the discounted room rate when you check out.Last two times I stayed there they never really even kept track of the play and just gave the poker rate, but I understand they are starting new management in the next week or so and may pay closer attention to it.I guess it really just depends on what you plan on doing while you are there. I love playing at Binions, but usually make at least one or two trips to the strip for a day of playing there.

Depends on what you like, if you want to stay on the strip then definitely. I stayed at IP a few years ago and had a room that was on the side of some big ass block party. They had live music going til like 3 am. I was there on a work trip that time and it was impossible to sleep. Not a bad little hotel though. I did have someone from housekeeping steal about $1000 from my hotel room when I stayed there, had to file a police report and everything. Was really no way to prove they took it.

I've never been to IP, but I have played at the Excalibur a lot, which I roughly place into the category of cheap strip casino. Excalibur: 10 people on the waiting list, seven of whom are sitting at the table. "We can't start. It might die right away."Binions: 2 people want to play. "OK, we'll start rake-free until we get full."

DNA... c'mon. You couldn't sleep from the noise and got robbed of $1,000..... "Not a bad little hotel though"? Hopefully the management did something for you... free night or something.I had a maid rob me in Mexico once...SAW her in my room at 11:15pm and still the managment did nothing about it.

they gave me the room free (which didnt mean jack crap to me since my work paid for it anyways) and they gave me a voucher to come back anytime in the next year for free, but I never used it.The only way they said they have to track that type of thing is they can see when and who enters your room by the room key. and I quote "although we found it unusual that "x" entered your room two times there is still no way to proove theft and especially a specific amount, but we will look into it some more and get in touch with you if we find out anything more" blah blah.

Exact same thing I got.Now I always put the "Do Not Disturb" sign on all day so they never have a reason to enter. I dont need my bed made up... not at the expense of getting my stuff stolen. And what do they mean "we will look into it" anyways.I hate thiefs.

apparently money inside of a sock inside of a shoe inside of a dresser drawer is not as unique of a hiding place as I had originally thought

Someone should build one of those japanese style hotels where each room is about 8' x 3' x 3' large, with security and a fresh supply of air, all you need is a funnel and a tube for most of your micturation, and a communal toilet for number 2.Remember reading about it in William Gibson's novels. Perfect for gamblers but the the big hotel owners would not allow it.
