This month I started out on a 265 BB heater in the first 5 days. Since then, I went through what I think is my worst downswing of the year at 285BB. Luckily, most of it has come at the lower stakes that I play now, so the $ amount is pretty manageable. Unfortunately it has shaken my confidence very slightly, so I think when I cash out a chunk to pay my entire lease up front, I will move down a bit. I'll probably stay out of the 50/100 game (ironically the only level I'm beating regularly this month) and only play in very good 30/60 games. I have worked my way up from my downswing a bit and am up 27 BB and something like $4.5k on the month, but I simply want to be fully confident and comfortable in the games that I play. Good luck everyone. I hope you're playing well.

running better at higher stakes seems fine in my book :club:. if you can go through a nearly 300BB swing and still be up on the month, i'd take it.i have 4BB to win this evening or ima have my first loser in 9 days. ONE TIME

this is my first question post in this thread. I'm working my way up in LHE because I am super bored with NLHE tourneys and I just can't win online at NLHE. I also seem to like LHE better. Hand in question...How do we play a maniac? Villain is a 49/14/2.9 over 85 hands and is on a SICKKKK heater. He already 3 bet my turn c/r on a AQ3Qhh board and got me to fold AT and then showed J9dd within the first 15 hands together. Since then, I've also seen him 3 bet pf and 3 barrel a A56TJ flush board with 8/9os. So is this line okay?PokerStars Limit Hold'em, $0.20 BB (3 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.comPreflop: Hero is SB with Aheart.gif, Aclub.gifButton calls, Hero raises, BB calls, Button 3-bets, Hero caps, BB calls, Button callsFlop: (12 SB) 10club.gif, 10diamond.gif, Qspade.gif(3 players)Hero bets, BB raises, Button calls, Hero 3-bets, BB caps, Button calls, Hero callsTurn: (12 BB) Qheart.gif(3 players)Hero checks, BB bets, 1 fold, Hero callsRiver: (14 BB) 3heart.gif(2 players)Hero checks, BB bets, Hero callsTotal pot: $3.20 (16 BB) | Rake: $0.15just curious how often he shows up here with anything. I generally would've probably raised the turn if he bet, but the Q coming out made me want to just go to showdown. Exactly how many bets did I waste?

We're definitely not folding, and I think it would be just a bit foolish to bet anymore when the Q came on the turn. Either he's bluffing and we're winning the max by calling (assuming he has nothing and will fold if we bet), or he has us beat and we're losing the minimum. So, I would play it the same way you did here. The only way we could possibly squeeze any more value is if he has A high and he'd call a raise thinking his two pair with an A kicker may be good or at least worth half the pot, but since we have 2 of them its not quite as likely that he has one. Also this is under the condition that he has gone nuts again on this hand. It would be hard to put a sane person on A high here. Maaaybe he'd cap the flop with AK for a gutshot and overcards. Since he didnt raise preflop its not likely he has AK.

tucker-the first hand i play the same.as for the second, it's an interesting spot. if you're SURE that you want to show down QQ there, then your line is correct. if, however, you're not sure, and think that you can either get to showdown cheaper by raising the flop, betting the turn, and checking the river, OR by raise/folding the flop, etc., then do that.

I play so goot.

i'm up 75BB vs goot players today and stuck 65 against total ****ing retards, three of which were sickly hit and runs for 20BB each in less than 10 hands.wat.i did, however, disconnect and fold KJ on the bb in a limped pot. the flop came J44, turn K, river K, and a total doink flipped up 44 ftw, so i'm calling today a win so far, lol.

I folded A4s in the CO to an UTG raise, and would have lost with a nut flush to UTG's 9-6s straight flush. It's the day of the almost-cooler.

I don't really depend on poker for money, don't really like to buy things anyway, and have no pride about my game at all (I suck, I know I suck, and when I'm kicking ass by whatever chance, I more get the feeling that my opponents are just really, really awful). Also, really don't like it that much. It's pretty cool when I'm winning, but the only time I actually have fun playing is if I don't really understand that particular variant well enough to understand that I'm not playing well. So I'm not sure why I play. But I do know this: I would like to play 25,000 hands next month. My winrate is shockingly high, considering how shitty I am (owed 90% to tilting a little bit less), I played 12,000 last month, which was a great month for me, and though this month I've only played a couple thousand hands, I feel like thanks to my habits on here and those Deuces Cracked videos (seriously, those things are the greatest thing that could have happened to me, switching to 6-max), I've improved my LHE game this month more than any other period I can remember. I think now I just need to force myself to spend as much time playing as I do watching the fluctuations of the rate clock next to my porn torrents, I could make a pretty major leap. So basically, the next five days I'm going to have to push it to retain my Poker Stars VIP status, and then it's on to my 25,000-hand challenge. It's going to be all the tougher because my PT3 trial was cut off when I foolishly uninstalled it, in an attempt to steal it, my HEM trial ends tomorrow, and I've decided to hold out for PEV. But the point of this rambling megapassage is simply that I'm going to force myself to play my ass off from now 'til at least November, and I'd like you homos on my ass about it.

Congrats on the improvements, sir. Keep me posted on your play throughout the next month. Good luck with your challenge.

There's a new Cash Plays with Bart Hanson on Pokerroad.com that features Chris "DeathDonkey" Vitch talking about limit hold em. While I would like to recommend that you guys never listen to Bart Hanson's voice for more than 5 minutes, DeathDonkey is pretty much always worth hearing.Edit- Listened to the whole thing and I'm a little mad at DeathDonkey. I wish as few people would think about balancing ranges as possible. Not you guys of course, though. Listen to the man.
