I tried a few last night and ran like sh*t (BellaireDrew I feel for ya) I was out in either 8th or 9th. These friggen early steps tilt me like no other.Gonna try again later. Good Luck to all playing these.Dan
Can definitely be frustrating. But remember, these can't be played like standard poker.I play extremely tight, robotic sng strategy on these. I play absolutely nothing but the highest premium hands in the early levels - I fold pairs less then TT from early position in a lot of cases at the 10/20 or 15/30 levels. And any of the smaller pairs I play from late I am looking to hit my set or fold. Play TT-QQ extremely careful, willing to fold to too much heavy action or a scary flop. KK, AA, AK, I will generally not worry about getting my money in there. If someone hit their set on me, oh well, they hit their two outter. I don't care about blinds or if someone someone wants to steal my 20 or 30 chip big blind - they can have it cuz it means nothing in the long run. And I try to keep the pots very small when possible. If it's going to be a big pot I have to have a very strong hand - trips or better, AA, KK on non scary boards. This should keep you from going out 6th or higher. As the blinds get up there, at around the 50/100 level. Then I start looking for spots to play a few more hands. I want to take the blinds uncontested or stack some donkey playing too many hands.I'm also not playing a lot of suited connectors... at all. Unless I am looking at two suited, connected broadway.Once I get down to the 10 to 11 BB level. I am going completely shove/fold. If I missed early this could happen around the 50/100 level. But typically it is at the 75/150 level. They still can tilt you hard when you finally play your Aces but run into two pair on a harmless looking flop because the moron played T7 cuz it was soooted. The top players in these have a vpip of under 15. When I sit at a table with good players and players that sattied their way up, I can recognize the difference immediately. At a Step 5, Busto_Soon, Stevie, Blanco and I were on one side of the table. A bunch of players I didn't recognize were on the other. Our vpip was all <15 and theirs were all >20. Makes picking who to go after a lot easier.Just some of my tips to try and help. If you run into some trouble hands, post them here or even better in Tournament Strat.GLGLGLGLGLGL!!!!

I've got a couple of Step 4 tickets, was going to use them for the mill when I feel up to.Would at this step you try going on to 4-5-6 or 4A to get into the $650 qualifier?

Here's my humble 2 cents on the steps...The advantage of a skilled player in this format seems to be quite marginal.I've been trying for 3 weeks:In the first week I didn't really know that much about Sit'n go strategy. I played extremely tight, and I got 3 cracks at step 5. By week 2 I felt that my results were quite random, depending on whether or not I caught good cards at the right time and whether or not the flips held up, so i decided to watch the 10 part Sit'n go strategy series on Cardrunners. Some eye-opening concepts that I wasn't aware of, but...In week 3 it seems that applying some advanced concepts has made no difference because the other players are happy to call a shove for their tournament life on a flip. Open shoving AQs in the later stages and getting called by a similar stack with KJs or 22 seems to be standard. Applying ICM considerations seems to be a waste of time so far. My strategic advantage goes out the window when the other guy doesn't know that he's supposed to fold. I'm no pro, don't get me wrong, but...Sit'n go's are a real crapshoot imho. Any skill advantage seems to be negated by the inevitable coinflip that I seem to win, oh, about 50% of the time. I haven't been back to Step 5 since week 1.Anyone care to differ?

I'm drawn to these like a moth to a blue light, but I have to stick to my guns and avoid this for the sake of my bankroll or lack there of. Good luck to everyone playing these and someone ship a WSOP seat!
