Crazy 4.40 180 Man Run

Recommended Posts

I wanted to clear my Pokerstars bonus (which I have since lost, bleh) with only one FPP to go, so I just plopped into a 180 man $4.40 SNG. I won the first two pots of the game by playing very aggressively, and was up to perhaps 1750 - 1800, but certainly no more than that. After those two hands, I never had more than 1700 chips ever again, and I cashed in 17th place. Now, why the hell can't I cash when I'm actually trying? :)I had some bad beats, some called bluffs, etc for the first half an hour or so, and wasn't looking good, so I had to start folding a bit more often. Suddenly, I realised another 30 mins had passed and I still didn't get a hand, and had jack squat in chips. So, I shoved. And won. Back up to maybe 800.The process repeated. At this point, the average stack was about 6000, and I was still dicking around with <1000. There was still 45+ players, so I knew I wouldn't cash. Then, suddenly, There were 35 players. Then 30. And I was still in!Can't even remember the blinds, but imagine for yourself what the blinds would be after approximately two hours of play. So, with 22 players left, I realised I could do it! Did a little bit of stalling, but eventually squeaked in, and three hands after hitting the money, I was blinded out and eliminated.See, I was so close to winning a couple of hundred bucks, so why the hell can't I cash (or at least get to the money with more than 250 chips) when I'm trying? Haha. Crazy game.

During the 4.40 challenge last october, I was actually 3rd in chips with 70 left, got it in 3 ways with top set, and lost to a runner-runner flush for what would have been a ridiculous CL... Left with like twice the big blind, I proceeded (because I needed pts for the scoring system) to use an unholy amount of stalling and sheer dumb luck to inch into the money in the top 18.. It's a good feeling. Especially because every point increase put psufans2 on LFT. :club:
